Do-it-yourself glazing of the loggia with an aluminum profile. Glazing of balconies with aluminum

Glazing of balconies and loggias with modern constructions made of various materials firmly established in our lives. The room, blown by all winds and covered with snow in winter, after glazing turns into an additional room, office, winter Garden or gym.

Remain the leader in popularity plastic windows. Per wooden structures the glory of the most environmentally friendly and functional has been entrenched. Aluminum glazing systems for balconies and loggias are less in demand. It seems that this fact is largely due to the lack of information about the types of glazing using an aluminum profile, the differences between "cold" and "warm" glazing options, the obvious advantages of aluminum loggias and the same obvious disadvantages.

Aluminum loggias: advantages and disadvantages

Aluminum loggias and balconies mainly belong to the sliding type of structures. In the lower and upper profiles in the guides (they are called the technical groove), special rollers are installed on which the sashes are hung. Currently, designs with two and three guides are being produced.

The framed sashes move easily and silently with the help of ball bearings. The number of sashes in such a design can be from 2 to 8. When the sash is closed, locks with latches are triggered, which make it impossible to get into the room from the street. To improve sound insulation in aluminum loggias, various seals are used. You can also order blind, hinged or combined sash opening.

Aluminum structures for glazing loggias and balconies can be "cold" and "warm". "Cold" profiles are called without the use of thermal inserts (insulating gaskets). Without a thermal insert, an aluminum profile with high thermal conductivity instantly freezes in winter. "Cold" glazing can only protect against wind, dust and precipitation. The temperature in the autumn-winter period on an aluminum loggia or balcony will be uncomfortable for a person. The difference between the outdoor temperature and the temperature on the loggia will be about 7-8 °.

Therefore, in order to create comfortable conditions for a person on the loggia at any time of the year, a “warm” profile is used for glazing. Today, leading manufacturers have mastered the production of profiles with complex thermal inserts, which significantly reduce the thermal conductivity of aluminum.

For an exclusive design, the “warm” profile of the aluminum loggia is trimmed with wood, which, in addition to the decorative function, also performs the function of a kind of additional thermal insert.

Advantages

The advantages of glazing loggias with aluminum structures include:

Exceptional reliability of the profile material - aluminum.

Light weight design.

  • Fire safety.
  • Protection against intrusion from the outside thanks to the use of locks with latches.
  • Reliable protection against atmospheric precipitation, wind, dust and noise.
  • Various versions (sliding, hinged, tilt-and-turn, deaf, combined).
  • Relative ease of installation.
  • Silent and easy sliding doors.
  • Attractive appearance.
  • An aluminum loggia with a sliding structure visually seems larger. In addition, the sliding type of glazing, due to the small width of the profile, increases the illumination of both the loggia itself and the adjacent room.
  • Huge variety color solutions profile coloring. In the RAL catalog, you can choose any of the 300 color options presented. One or both sides of the profile can be painted in the selected color.

Additional advantages of sliding type aluminum loggias include the low weight of the structure, which allows it to be installed on the balconies of old housing stock. The sliding design saves the usable area of the loggia and balcony. And the main advantage is affordable price compared to other glazing systems.

Flaws

Any system has drawbacks, and aluminum loggias are no exception to this rule:

  • The high thermal conductivity of aluminum excludes the possibility of creating the same comfortable conditions, as with glazing with PVC systems (more often they are called "plastic windows"). There are no thermal inserts in the "cold" aluminum structures, and in winter in our climate the frames will freeze through. There are thermal inserts in “warm” aluminum structures, however, in terms of thickness (and, therefore, in terms of characteristics), they cannot be compared with the thickness of a PVC profile. "Warm" aluminum profiles no longer have a price advantage over glazing systems made of other materials.
  • Aluminum has a significant coefficient of thermal expansion. Aluminum profile 2000 mm long with temperature fluctuations in our climatic conditions can expand / contract within 10-15 mm. Such fluctuations require special attention to the arrangement of the junctions of the profile and the wall of the house.
  • AT winter time there is a freezing of the "cold" profile and the formation of ice in the guides. The moisture that has got into them does not have time to completely go through the drainage holes to the lower ebb and freezes, which makes it impossible to open the valves. Until the ice thaws, the doors will remain locked.

Installation of sliding aluminum glazing on the loggia

Today, the market presents the profile Provedal, Krauss, SIAL, MAK, as well as the profile of other manufacturers. So, in the new standard residential buildings glazing of the P-400 Krauss series is often installed in a deaf or hinged version. This is a "cold" profile with one glass. Both manufacturers, ranked on Russian market leading positions - Provedal and Krauss, produce both "cold" and "warm" profile. Structurally, the “cold” profile of Provedal and Krauss is practically the same.

Mounting tool

Let's first prepare the tool that we need to mount the aluminum loggia:

  • Perforator and drill bits for concrete.
  • Screwdriver.
  • A hammer.
  • Building level.
  • Roulette.
  • Pencil.
  • Dowels.
  • Construction foam.
  • Sealant gun.
  • Sealant.
  • Wooden beam 50x50 mm.
  • Wooden wedges.

Preparing for installation

First, the old wooden glazing frames are removed.

Important! When dismantling old frames, it is important not to damage the parapet of the loggia or balcony. To do this, try to apply force in the plane of the frame. Inspect the concrete parapet and repair with mortar if necessary. Work on the installation of new glazing can be continued only after the solution has solidified on the parapet.

After removing the fasteners, remove all debris. For more secure installation aluminum glazing, before installation we fix it on the parapet wooden beam 50x50 mm. Installation will be simplified, and a heat-insulating gasket will appear in the design between the parapet and the profile. We check the horizontal installation of the beam.

Before starting the installation, we remove the glazing in those structural elements, where possible - first of all, from the deaf parts. So during installation we will not damage it. It is recommended to remove all sliding parts as well.

To the top concrete slab we fix the visor. We install an ebb on the parapet. The gap between the tide and the parapet is sealed with sealant.

We fasten to the profile with the help of special self-tapping screws for metal mounting plates with a pitch of 700 mm. With the help of an assistant, we lift the structure prepared for installation and install it in the prepared opening. Align with wedges horizontally, vertically and in the plane of the opening. We check with the help of the building level. After leveling, we make markings on the walls and ceiling (upper concrete slab) for mounting plates.

We drill holes in the walls and ceiling, and fix the mounting plates with dowels. Once again we check the frame for verticality, hang the elements removed before installation and install the glazing. Structurally, the sliding type aluminum loggia is designed in such a way that the sashes can be easily removed and easily installed in place. No effort is needed for this. We install the window sill in place and check that it fits well to lower profile construction and was stable. Then we take out the window sill.

Very important! The maximum allowable deviation from the vertical and horizontal during installation of the structure is 3 mm for the entire length or height of the profile. Pay special attention to the attachment points in order to avoid profile deflections.

We foam all the gaps around the perimeter of the profile, starting from the bottom plane of the opening. We install the final window sill. When foaming, we control the completeness of filling the gaps with finely porous mounting foam. We cover the places of foaming from the side of the room with plastic flashings.

Have you heard about the cold glazing of the balcony? But many do not know about this technology. Clients often come to our office and are not even aware that this happens.

I really hope that many readers will learn from it useful information and will be aware of all the nuances when ordering cold glazing. Knowledge is power! Read.

The term "cold glazing" should be understood as turnkey glazing of a balcony, where the installation process takes place without the use of a thermal insert, but thanks to aluminum profiles.

The presented type of glazing is perfect for non-residential rooms.

Cold glazing ensures that no noise from the street is heard in the apartment, and also protects the rooms from rain, snow and freezing.

Cold glazing can be done in the following ways:

  1. Glazing with aluminum structures without thermal breaks by sliding systems. This method is very convenient, because it allows you to save space on the balcony and you can open it by moving the profiles to the sides. In addition, this type of glazing is recognized as environmentally friendly, because it is made from materials that do not have negative impact on human health and pets. Systems based on aluminum profiles are lightweight and will last for many years. Before installation, preliminary measurements should be carried out. Then frame frames are made, into which steles from 5 millimeters thick are inserted. You can even build a portable window sill to save space.
  2. Glazing with deaf or pivot windows. Can install mosquito net, because in the summer it is hot and there is no desire for flies and mosquitoes to fly into the apartment.

It should be noted that there is no heat-insulating air cushion in cold glazing, so the total weight of the system is less and the load on the bearing surfaces is the least.

Cold glazing is used only when the balcony serves only for storing things, because the temperature inside will be only 7 degrees higher than the street temperature.

Advantages of cold glazing

  • A small price for expenses and installation;
  • Significant space savings due to sliding doors;
  • The profile can be painted in any color;
  • All structures that are used during installation are fire resistant, durable and strong;
  • Cold glazing is universal and will suit all loggias and balconies;
  • Protects the apartment from noise, snow and dust from the street.
  • Cold glazing is the most common option, because this way you can glaze all balconies and loggias. Sliding frames are very and allow you to save the area of the balcony. Frames can be installed on a metal parapet and on a concrete or brick base.

Aluminum glazing of balconies and loggias

Cold glazing is an economical option for protecting a balcony from dampness, wind, snow and street dust.

But an aluminum profile with single-layer glass does not guarantee high thermal protection. In severe cold on the balcony, the temperature will not exceed 0 ° C.

Cold glazing of balconies and loggias with an aluminum profile is the most budgetary option for protecting a balcony from dust, wind, rain and snow.

The company "Windows Forbis" offers to order window structures directly from the manufacturer, which allows customers to pleasantly save on the arrangement of premises, receiving impeccably done work, ready for long-term successful service.

The cold glazing method has its advantages and disadvantages. Among the shortcomings - the lack of sound insulation. Aluminum profile and one glass are not an effective barrier to noise.

Therefore, everything that happens on the street will be heard on the balcony. This point is important to consider if the windows of the apartment face a busy street. Also, cold glazing is not able to retain heat in the cold.

The balcony can only be fully used in summer. And in winter, it can serve as an additional refrigerator. When it's -20°C outside, it's near zero on the balcony.

Aluminum sliding glazing

In all other respects, the aluminum profile shows excellent results. It is extremely easy to use, extremely durable, non-flammable, does not deform and does not change color over time.

The narrow profile blocks out the least amount of light. The light weight of the aluminum structure allows you to install cold glazing on any balcony without prior reinforcement.

This option is suitable even for "Khrushchev", where the balcony slabs are very weak.

We use semi-coated Guardian glass of increased strength. Glass width 4 mm. Its transparency is higher than that of ordinary glass, it retains excess ultraviolet light without reducing the brightness of sunlight and without changing its hue.

The balcony is filled with daylight and does not require additional lighting. This is especially important if you have a lot of indoor plants.

Ways to open windows

Aluminum glazing can be deaf, hinged or sliding. The most commonly used sliding design: it saves scarce balcony space. This design is very convenient to use and has a long service life.

Advantages of aluminum glazing of balconies and loggias

If you doubt the need for glazing balconies, just read the list of advantages that this solution has:

  • affordable installation price;
  • saving space and the appearance of additional space, ready for year-round use;
  • profile reliability and durability;
  • high-quality protection against dust, wind, rain and snow;
  • light weight;
  • resistance to deformation and corrosion;
  • preservation of color and surface smoothness;
  • aesthetic and modern look structures;
  • a wide variety of colors.

If you do not plan to use the balcony in winter otherwise than just for storing things or products, then cold glazing with an aluminum profile will be an excellent solution to increase the usable area of \u200b\u200bhousing.

Cold glazing with Provedal profile

Using the Provedal profile, only cold glazing is performed. This is explained by the high thermal conductivity of aluminum.

Aluminum frames do not retain heat well, and the small installation depth of the aluminum profile does not allow the installation of double-glazed windows. A glazing in one glass does not protect against heat loss.

As a result, Provedal is not suitable for residential glazing in cold climates.

Provedal aluminum glazing is optimal for rooms that are not insulated and are used seasonally. The choice of such structures is due to their low weight. Balconies and loggias have different strengths.

Some are not able to withstand the significant weight of plastic frames. Frames made of aluminum are much lighter, easier to install and do not require the preparation of a solid support.

If desired, the aluminum structure can be installed directly on the metal railing of the balcony. This system is also used for summer premises: gazebos, verandas and terraces.

Catalog of Provedal profiles

All types of aluminum profiles can be divided into two types: hinged and sliding. For swing systems p400, for sliding systems - c640. We will discuss the differences between these profiles below.

Swing system Provedal p400

The P400 profile is designed to create hinged window systems.

The design scheme is standard. The sashes are attached to the frame with hinges and open into the room. The rotary handle fixes the closed shutters.

The Provedal p400 swing system is suitable for making windows and doors. And also for hinged partitions and stained-glass windows.

  • Single-chamber profile, 40 mm wide;

P400 profiles are resistant to many negative factors. They perfectly resist high and low temperatures from fifty degrees of frost to fifty degrees of heat, and sudden changes in temperature.

Profiles of this series are used to create glazing of balconies and loggias, doors, partitions in offices and some other structures.

The surface of profile systems is painted. High-quality paint protects aluminum from corrosion processes and makes the structure more attractive aesthetically.

The paint is used in a wide range of colors. It does not fade and retains a rich shade throughout the operation of the aluminum structure.

The p400 profile can be mounted in two ways: with the creation of blind and hinged sashes. The main advantages of this option are the possibility of combining blind and swing doors, the low cost and reliability of the fittings used.

Provedal P400 aluminum profile products are durable and reliable. Their soundproofing characteristics reach 27 dB. The design transfers loads without deformation, cracks and other defects do not appear in it.

The profile is resistant to oxidation and fire. The service life of the aluminum part of the glazing is eighty years or more. Since the window structure consists not only of a profile, its service life is less - about twenty years.

Window frames from the P400 profile are equipped with glasses with a thickness of three to six millimeters. Double-glazed windows are not used in such structures, since this makes no sense. The main heat loss occurs through the profile itself.

Window structures are equipped with seals. They are made from elastomers, the characteristics of which comply with the EPDM standard.

Sliding system Provedal c640

Sliding window structures are equipped with sashes that move sideways along the frame. The movement is provided by a special C640 profile and rollers that are hidden inside the frame.

Hidden location of moving parts allows you to protect them from moisture, dust and debris.

The absence of water prevents icing. Such rollers are very difficult to damage by accident. Thanks to this feature, the design serves for a long time under any weather conditions.

The Provedal c640 sliding system is suitable for glazing balconies, loggias, verandas, terraces and partitions.

  • Single-chamber profile, 60 mm wide;
  • Seals comply with EPDM standard, color black;
  • Sashes up to 1250 mm wide, up to 6 pcs;
  • Profile color is white. Coloring according to RAL is possible;
  • Glazing glass, up to 6 mm thick;
  • Fasteners stainless steel.

Straight profiles are connected using special elements. They are diverse in shape, which allows you to create window structures for balconies of both simple and complex shapes.

In addition to balconies and loggias, sliding aluminum structures are used for glazing terraces and verandas, creating office partitions.

C640 profiles are completed with five-millimeter glasses or double-glazed windows no thicker than sixteen millimeters.

Joints are sealed with special materials, including felt. Polymer elastic materials comply with EPDM standards. The sashes are sealed with brush elements.

The main advantage of the c640 profile is the possibility of using sliding structures and the associated space savings. Deaf and sliding doors can be combined, as well as create complex designs.

When mounting structures from the profile of the C640 series, they are equipped with three types of doors: deaf, sliding and hinged. The number of wings should not exceed six.

In this case, the dimensions of one sash can reach a length of one meter twenty-five centimeters. The weight of each square meter is twelve kilograms.

Most often, the C640 profile is used to create structures with sliding doors. Such a product is completed with no more than six elements that are shifted relative to each other.

Swing doors are used in cases where it is required to increase the level of thermal insulation and tightness. The increase is from ten percent to fifteen.

Sliding structures are the most popular for glazing balcony spaces. This is due to the greater ease of use on balconies and loggias. small area or width.

To open the swing doors, you need to free up space in front of them. In conditions of a cramped balcony, this is not always possible. In particular, the person who opens the sash would have to deviate or squat.

Not everyone is able to perform such actions. If you install a design with sliding doors, the process will be simple and convenient. Blinds can be hung on the windows and they will not interfere with the shutters to open.

The only drawback is less tightness, but for an uninsulated balcony it is not essential.

We would like to inform you that when we say “Provedal profile” we mean an aluminum profile for cold glazing. In Russia on this moment Spanish profile systems are not manufactured or supplied.

All companies selling “Provedal” in Russia sell cold glazing from profiles produced in Russia, Belarus or China. Such profiles do not differ in quality, and meet all standards and state standards.

Insulation of the loggia with cold glazing

In addition to spacious rooms, the new apartments have huge halls and corridors, storage rooms and dressing rooms. However, the Soviet past does not allow a single centimeter of usable area to be wasted.

And in most cases, a person decides to glaze and insulate an existing balcony or loggia.

Most new buildings are designed already with glazed balconies. Most often, glazing of loggias is done in a cold way, i.e. using a sliding aluminum profile or a wooden frame with one glass.

Cold glazing is a very economical option, but not optimal in terms of thermal conductivity.

Therefore, there are always those who want to turn just a loggia into a comfortable additional room. Best result Insulation of a loggia with cold glazing is achieved by insulating all parts of the room: balcony frames, floors, walls and ceilings.

Window insulation

If cold air and moisture penetrate through the window frames into the room, additional insulation of the bindings is necessary. The best way is to treat the entire perimeter of the inner and outer sides of the frame with a special sealant.

When installing balcony frames, polyurethane foam is often used. Over time, under the influence of aggressive natural factors, it collapses, and as a result, cracks form.

Floor insulation

To insulate the floor of the loggia, most often used mineral wool, extruded polystyrene foam, otherwise foam and polystyrene.

Mineral wool has excellent heat and sound insulation, resistant to chemicals. However, in some EU countries different kinds mineral fibers are prohibited for use due to their unsafety for human health.

Styrofoam is also an excellent heat and sound insulating material. Non-toxic. However, it is easily destroyed when interacting with many chemicals, such as acetone.

The best option for warming both the floor and walls is penoplex. This material is very durable, has high moisture resistance and low thermal conductivity, and is environmentally friendly.

Between the lags, plates from the selected insulation are laid. The distances between the insulation and the walls must be sealed with a vapor barrier film or tape, which will help protect the floor from mold.

Wall and ceiling insulation

The walls and ceiling of the loggia are sheathed with 3-centimeter sheets of foam, foam or material with similar characteristics. With the help of dowels, a bar is attached to the walls and ceiling, which is set according to the level.

Facade glazing replacement

In addition to the glazing of buildings under construction, customers face the question of replacing facade glazing.

Many facades built back in Soviet times (starting from the 60s of the 20th century) are morally obsolete, and at most ceased to fulfill their functions as a result of wear and tear.

Therefore, there is a need to replace facade glazing - either part of it (replacing double-glazed windows with energy-saving ones), or dismantling the existing facade and glazing with a new facade system - Schuco or Russian.

Also, the need to replace facade glazing arises for a private customer - when it is necessary to replace cold glazing with warm glazing. This is a fairly common case; facade glazing is especially often replaced by people who have bought an apartment in an elite building in order to expand their living space.

Mostly in modern new buildings in Moscow and the Moscow region, the facades of buildings are glazed according to the principle of cold glazing, as a result of which the residents have the question of replacing cold glazing with warm glazing.

The technology in this case is as follows - our specialists dismantle the old facade glazing, install new pillars and crossbars, install sashes, install double-glazed windows with low-emission glass, and trim the junctions. Then a container for the removal of construction debris is ordered.

Understand the difference between cold and warm glazing

Cold glazing is designed for glazing non-residential premises, and warm glazing for living quarters.

Warm glazing in the profile itself has a thermal bridge to prevent heat loss (if we are talking about aluminum glazing - plastic glazing, or rather a plastic profile, even a 3-chamber one is initially warm).

Warm glazing has a coefficient of reduced heat transfer resistance (Ropr (m2 °C / W) higher than cold glazing.

When facade glazing is replaced from cold to warm, Ropr increases to 0.54 m2 oC/W. For comparison, this indicator for plastic windows is 0.54 m2 °C / W.

Now let's figure out when it is necessary to replace cold glazing with warm one. There are three types of glazing according to thermal insulation characteristics.

  • Warm;
  • Warm-cold;
  • Cold.

If you have warm glazing plastic system with double-glazed windows with energy-saving glass, or an aluminum system with a similar double-glazed window and a thermal bridge, then everything is fine with you!

A warm-cold glazing system, as a rule, is a facade system (consists of pillars and crossbars, a double-glazed window is installed from the outside and pressed from the outside with a clamping bar and a decorative cover), then it is not necessary to replace the facade glazing to seal it.

In this case, the installed glass / double-glazed windows are removed, thermal bridges are installed in the facade system, double-glazed windows are installed (if they pass in size) with energy-saving glasses. If necessary, the sealing rubber is changed.

Note that these types of work are performed by industrial climbers.

The cold glazing system is an aluminum window system consisting of an aluminum one-piece structure.

When replacing facade glazing made in this system, such a system is dismantled (if possible), and a new one is put in its place, warm system made of aluminum or plastic (PVC) depending on the wishes of the customer.

Replacement of cold glazing in a solid glass facade

But here's what to do if your facade is a single whole, starting from the first floor and ending with the last.

Such a facade is hinged, that is, it is not built into the opening, but is hung from the outside, and when one rack ends, the next one comes out of it due to the internal mortgage!

Many companies where you contact regarding the replacement of cold glazing will refuse to insulate such a facade, saying that it is technologically impossible.

And they will be right in their own way. The issue is that when there is a need to replace cold glazing, many companies do not have technological solution for insulating a part of a cold facade with a warm one, but Deutsche Facade has such a solution!!!

To replace cold glazing, or rather to insulate part of a cold facade, we offer a number of solutions:

  • the racks from below and above are insulated with a heater, thermal bridges are inserted into the racks, ebbs are placed below and above your facade to prevent water from entering from neighbors. The appearance of the facade will not fundamentally change, despite the protrusion from the general facade by 2-3 cm (if you are told that after the insulation the facade will not change at all, then this is not true, or rather, if you put a second glazing thread);
  • another option is to insulate the racks due to the fact that with inside they are removed in plastic boxes, they are inserted into the place of the glasses plastic frames in which warm double-glazed windows are already installed from the inside. In this option, the facade will be in one line, and the cold glazing will be replaced!

Another way to replace cold glazing with warm glazing is to install a second glazing string. With this option, the original glazing does not change, this type of work is cheaper than replacing facade glazing, since there is no work of climbers and work on the insulation of adjoining areas.

The disadvantage of installing a second glazing string is the reduction of space inside the room and not the best interior view. The opening elements of the second glazing circuit must be larger than the first circuit and be at the same level.

At the price of replacing facade glazing and replacing cold glazing with warm glazing, we are one of the best in the Moscow region. Our company replaces cold glazing with warm glazing without changing the appearance of the facade.

Cold glazing of a balcony - why is the design popular?

The desire of the owners of apartments with a balcony to ennoble the loggia, to protect it from prying eyes, rain and wind is fully natural. Now various options are being considered, but one of the most popular is the cold glazing of the balcony.

The choice of the type of glazing of the loggias

First you need to decide on the method that the best way suitable for glazing your balcony. There are two most famous methods - cold, which is considered the most budgetary, and "warm" - using double-glazed windows, additional wall and floor insulation. Which option to choose, you decide, given your own financial capabilities.

But be guided to take into account that the “cold” option is considered the most economical and simple to implement. We will now look at it. To implement this method, it is better to use aluminum, which is characterized by good appearance, ease of use, strength and low weight.

In addition, the use of aluminum aggregates makes it possible to say about the fire safety of a balcony or loggia, in contrast to the sequence of the second materials. And coupled with a small price, the aluminum profile is made good material for ennoblement of the loggia.

Advantages and disadvantages of cold glazing

Cold glazing has many advantages, which explains its popularity.
The price of aluminum frames is much lower than wood frames, and even more so than double-glazed windows. As a result, both the acquisition and installation will cost you a very small amount.

Light weight construction

For the most part, frames with sliding doors are left for this type of glazing, which makes it possible to more effectively use the free space on the balcony.

The design execution of the structure is up to you, thanks to which it is possible to choose any coating or color scheme you like, which will improve the appearance of the balcony. In addition, it is possible to choose any glass that is possible mirror, tinted, shockproof.

Aluminum is an environmentally friendly material that does not emit substances capable of harming the human body. Strength and Durability cannot but rejoice, because aluminum is not subject to corrosion, it can serve for decades - only PVC windows can be compared with them in terms of durability.

But we must not forget that every medal has two sides. Cold glazing of loggias and balconies has its own shortcomings. First of all, this is a low coefficient of thermal insulation, which is why the winter period on the balcony is cold enough.

At low temperatures icing of the iron shutters may appear, and in summer condensation may appear on the windows. In addition, such structures do not provide 100% sound insulation.

Cold glazing options

Frameless cold glazing is divided into a couple of types: aluminum, frameless and plastic. The last option is considered the most economical.

Along with this, the window can be sliding or hinged. If we are talking about a sliding option, then in this case the frames will open to the sides, easily sliding on the rollers.

Such a design can significantly increase the required area of \u200b\u200bthe loggia.

It is also possible to use plastic profiles. Due to the design of this profile, a simple sliding on the rollers is ensured.

By the way, a sliding plastic system retains much more heat than aluminum, while maintaining a small weight along with this. The ease of installation is also pleasing: the frames are inserted into the prepared opening, and the slots are sealed with mounting foam.

There is also a frameless design that does not delay the penetration of sunlight due to the lack of overlap. If you decide to stay on this option, then it is better to buy strained glass characterized by impact resistance.

The ease of installation is also pleasing - aluminum profiles are attached to the ceiling, parapet and shelf, and glass sashes are already attached to them.

It is also possible to make panoramic glazing besides this, but this option the most expensive.

Cold glazing with your own hands

It must be emphasized that the installation of window profiles for cold glazing is a fairly simple job. But in order for the design to demonstrate all its own the good side you need to follow the instructions exactly.

How to make a cold balcony glazing with your own hands - a step by step diagram

Step 1: Preparing the balcony for work

First of all, go to assess the condition of the loggia, remove all extraneous structures and strengthen the parapet, if necessary. If iron railings are installed on your balcony, it is possible to leave them. The main thing is that the fence is as strong as possible and the top is without a slope.

Otherwise, the railing must be replaced.

Along with this, all work related to the outer side of the fence is done before glazing, and decorative work on ennoblement is started at the last moment.

Move 2: Measurements

Entrust work better for specialists from which you will order the profiles themselves. And all due to the fact that mathematical accuracy is needed here - the smallest inaccuracy, moreover, by one millimeter will lead to problems during installation.

During work, do not forget to worry about safety - buy a safety belt that can withstand up to 400 kg of weight. The optimal length of the cable is 2.5 meters.

At the end of how all the structural elements will be brought to you, assemble the frame and proceed to the upcoming work.

Step 3: Installing the window

We install the finished structure on the parapet and fix it with self-tapping screws and mounting loops to the plates. We start the visor under the mounting loops and fasten it to the plate with self-tapping screws.

Next, we make an ebb, which must be installed from the outside. Along with this, the drain and the visor should be treated with silicone sealant, and the seams between the structure, the top plate and the balcony parapet are sealed with mounting foam.

At the last stage, it is necessary to install the glazing itself with a blind sash and mount the strips (glazing beads), which will ensure a high-quality fit of the glass to the window frame.

Are you tired of the renovation noise coming from the neighboring apartment? Tired of constantly removing snow from the balcony in winter, and dust with poplar fluff in summer? Do you want to make a loggia a room? Then aluminum frames installed on the balcony are the ideal solution. Why exactly them? Now we'll find out.

"Cold" glazing of the balcony with an aluminum profile is carried out according to pre-made measurements. It uses glass with a thickness of 4 to 6 mm and a white anodized aluminum profile. Its merits are:

  • energy saving due to narrower bindings;
  • ease of installation, accessible even for a non-professional;
  • resistance to corrosion;
  • resistance to mechanical damage (compared to other materials);
  • no cracks or holes in closed guarantees protection from extraneous sounds, dust and precipitation;
  • the lightness of the design allows you not to create additional reinforcement when glazing the balcony on the take-out;
  • budget: the price of aluminum frames is one of the lowest;
  • a sliding system (unlike a hinged one) leaves more usable area not blocked by sashes;
  • ascetic design in minimalist style.

This type of glazing is considered a cold option.

There are no ideal designs. This also applies to "cold" aluminum glazing. Its disadvantages:

  • winter freezing of the mechanisms by which the movement and fixation of the valves is carried out;
  • low thermal insulation in winter (the difference in temperature outside and on the balcony is no more than 5-7 ° C).

Other types of balcony glazing

For comparison, let's take a look at other types of balcony frames on the market. building materials and designs.

PVC frames

"Warm" glazing is made using a frame made of polyvinyl chloride and multilayer double-glazed windows. The design of the double-glazed window and the use of rubber seals provide:

  • high sound insulation;
  • reliable protection from the cold (hence the name);
  • lack of draft.

Among the disadvantages of plastic glazing (which aluminum glazing of balconies is deprived of) are:

  • inability to use on cantilevered balconies;
  • the complexity of the repair;
  • high cost compared to analogues made of aluminum;
  • high rates of electrostatics of polyvinyl chloride, which actively attracts dust microparticles;
  • accumulation of condensate due to the tightness of the frame and, as a result, the need for frequent ventilation;
  • heavy weight (due to which the PVC frame can only be installed on a reinforced parapet).

Intermediate glazing

This system consists of reinforced PVC profiles, connected by corner elements, and works on the principle of a sliding wardrobe. In the profiles of the sliding system containing the fittings, glass is installed, the thickness of which is from 4 to 8 mm. Combining the advantages of the two previous options, the intermediate option is devoid of the disadvantages of “cold” glazing.” However, the disadvantage of this design is its large weight.

wood frame

The classic way of glazing a balcony, used for a long time. The wooden frame is treated with a fire-resistant and anti-mold composition, which increases its performance characteristics. Thanks to rubber gaskets, the frame fits snugly without gaps to the walls of the loggia. The swivel mechanism allows you to easily ventilate the room. The advantages of a wooden frame include:

  • environmental friendliness of wood, which does not emit chemically harmful substances into the space;
  • long service life (up to 50 years) with proper care, which consists in annual painting, varnishing and timely repair;
  • exquisite eco-design.

Wooden frames have their advantages, but they are more expensive than aluminum ones.

But, along with the advantages, glazing also has significant disadvantages:

  • wood swells under the influence of moisture, increasing in size; as a result, the shutters do not close well;
  • high price compared to the installation of an aluminum frame;
  • the frame over time can change its linear dimensions (shrink or warp);
  • installation of such a frame requires certain professional skills, it is difficult for a beginner to cope with it.

Frameless glazing

For glazing a balcony without frames, tempered shock-resistant glasses with a thickness of 7 to 9 mm are used, which move on special plastic hinges. In order to wash the glass, they are shifted into an "accordion". The advantages of this type of glazing are as follows:

  • burglary resistance;
  • wind and sound insulation;
  • simplicity and ease of use (sashes open and close with a slight movement of the hand);
  • Beautiful design;
  • the absence of obstacles in the form of a frame in the path of sunlight.

Significant disadvantages of frameless glazing make this design imperfect. Let's list them:

  • absolute transparency - this, at first glance, dignity turns into excessive publicity and the inability to hide from prying eyes;
  • leakage of the structure, which acts as a decorative barrier: such a frame does not provide thermal and sound insulation, moisture can penetrate through it;
  • the inability to attach a mosquito net makes the balcony vulnerable to insects;
  • deformation of metal guides due to temperature jumps.

Features of balcony glazing with removal

In order to expand the area of the balcony, the level of the floor or window sill can be shifted forward by up to 35 cm. In the first case, a profile is welded along the contour to the base plate, sheathed from below with metal sheets. Remove old railings and install new ones. At the end of the work outside, the balcony is lined with clapboard, PVC panels or siding. For such redevelopment, which increases the load on the facade, it is necessary to issue a permit in the relevant departments.

When moving along the window sill, the floor level remains the same, and the area at the level of the window sill increases. Windows with the help of brackets are pushed outward towards the street or on the sides. The disadvantages of such glazing is the risk of the balcony collapsing due to non-compliance with the technical conditions with an increase in its area.

Thus, of all types of balcony glazing, the “cold” version with aluminum frame is one of the most preferred.

Balcony with removal is very important to do in compliance with all safety requirements

The sequence of works for the installation of an aluminum frame

Let's take a closer look at the installation of aluminum frames on the balcony. First you need to prepare the necessary tools for installation.

Tools

For work on cold glazing, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • hacksaw for metal;
  • roulette;
  • drill;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • screws;
  • screwdriver;
  • brush seal (schlegel);
  • weatherproof silicone sealant;
  • mounting foam;
  • hex key.

Aluminum sliding frame device

The balcony is glazed with an aluminum profile in the following order:

  • dismantle the old frame (if any);
  • clean the parapet and slabs from debris and fragments of the skin;
  • assemble a frame from fragments;
  • fix assembled structure on the parapet, using galvanized self-tapping bolts and mounting loops for this;
  • install guides for the sashes, for which measure the length of the horizontal sides of the balcony opening, transfer the dimensions to the guides and cut them out
  • polish the place of the saw cut with a file;
  • drill holes in the opening for self-tapping screws in increments of 0.3 m. install guides with screws. The gap between the outer edge of the frame and the guide should be no more than 5 cm, so that the frame does not freeze in the winter season;
  • install a brush seal along the contour of the leaves;
  • insert the sash into the upper guide, and then with rollers into the lower one;
  • put a steel visor under the mounting loops, covered with a decorative and protective polymer coating;
  • connect the visor to the balcony slab using self-tapping screws;
  • draw a tide on the polymerized steel strip. Cut it with roofing scissors;
  • install an outflow outside the frame;
  • seal the joints of the ebb and the visor with weather-resistant silicone sealant;
  • fill the corners between the frame profile, balcony slabs, walls and parapet with mounting foam;
  • mount the glazing of the deaf sashes. To do this, install clamping strips for a tight joint between the frame and the glass.

Installing a sliding aluminum frame on a balcony is the most acceptable and economical option for balcony glazing. detailed instructions will help you to install it yourself without much hassle.

Sliding windows on the balcony and loggia save space

Readers are often interested in how to remove sliding plastic windows on a balcony or loggia and how to install new ones. The key to answering these questions lies in knowing the rules of installation. Therefore, I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the installation algorithm on one specific example, where an aluminum structure is installed on a loggia. In addition, you will learn about the advantages of compartment windows and you can watch the video in this article.

Sliding windows

Installation, adjustment and repair of plastic and aluminum windows is done in almost the same way. That is, the principle of assembly and installation of the structure remains the same, only the material for the frame changes.

Window installation

Making the foundation

We can say that installing a sliding window on a balcony or loggia with your own hands is quite simple, but certain rules must be observed. In this case, we will mount the structure on the loggia, but in the course of the description I will make remarks on the difference with the installation on the balcony.

Through the board we make holes in the fence

We fix the board with dowels with screws to the fence

Regardless of whether we will mount aluminum or PVC, warm or cold profiles, we need a base, and in this case we will use a 30-40 mm board for this, which will need to be screwed to the fence with dowels. You see that this is not difficult to do - drill holes through the board and drive dowels there, which you fix with thick and long screws.

On the balcony in such cases, a stretcher is made of metal profiles, and fasteners are carried out not in a board, but in metal - everything is the same, only the base material changes.

Aluminum frame assembly

If your window is made of an aluminum profile, then the frame will have to be assembled at the installation site - it’s much more convenient, but the PVC has already been assembled and you just have to hang the sashes and insert double-glazed windows. For assembly, all profiles are numbered, so you only need to fasten them together with the screws that are included in the kit.

But the dimensions of the frame are determined even earlier - to make a window. You need to remove them yourself or invite a representative of the company that will manufacture your order.

Tape fasteners will help to make the initial fixation

If the installation takes place on the loggia, then the instruction recommends using a perforated tape for temporary fixation - that is, while you are screwing this tape to the profile. In order to raise the frame in the opening, plastic adjusting blocks are used - they are also used for subframes in order to clearly set the horizontal.

Laying out the parts of the window sill

We have already prepared the frames, and you can lay them out along the fence and screw the window sill to it - in this case it will be made of parts, but for the balcony you can get by with one panel, since the windows are much smaller there. Here you have the opportunity to screw it to the board with screws, but in the stretcher, of course, you will need to screw it to the metal.

Low tide installation

In this case, the ebb is installed directly on top of the window sill and in the future it will be pressed against the glazing. But I'm generally a supporter of ebbs that are screwed directly to the frame - they do not have to be sealed with silicone to prevent leakage.

Assembly of frame sections

Now you can install the frame - in our case, since the opening is large enough, it consists of several sections. These sections are screwed through the profile with self-tapping screws to the board, and then twisted together, as shown in the photo above. In the subframe, the assembly takes place in a similar way, only it has to be screwed to the metal profile.

Fixing the top

Now we need to align the assembled structure and for this we previously screwed the perforated strips. We apply the level to the profile vertically and drill holes for the dowels in the right places. After fastening the upper part, we fix the sides and blow out the gaps with mounting foam.

We fix the visor

We insert the visor over the slats and fasten it to them with metal screws - it is also desirable to blow out the remaining gap at the top with mounting foam. If you have a balcony, then the visor is installed with your own hands on top of the stretcher, but this is more related to the design of the balcony, and not to installing the window.

Small gaps need to be sealed

Do not blow out all the gaps with mounting foam, as it is suitable for gaps of at least 3 mm. Anything less you can seal with silicone sealant.

Sash installation

Now it remains only to insert the sashes - this is easy to do - insert the upper part, slightly press the sash up and insert the lower part. In exactly the same way, insert all the other sliding elements. There is no difference between a balcony and a loggia here - only the price differs, but this is due to the size of the structure.

Mosquito net installation

After assembly, you only have to install a mosquito net, which is also called an "anti-cat" and in this case you see a simplified and therefore cheaper option. The mosquito is inserted in the same way as the sash and is pressed on the one hand by the movable sash, and on the other by the fixed frame profile.

Horizontal blinds

It is very convenient to use for sun protection horizontal blinds on sliding windows on the balcony and on the loggia. They take up very little space and are easily fixed to the plastic and aluminum frame.

Sliding window care

Window cleaners

Now, let's figure out how to wash the sliding windows on the balcony outside and inside:

  • if you close a balcony or loggia, then some part of the sunlight remains inaccessible to your room and you need to use ultraviolet radiation to the maximum;
  • to do this, keep the glass clean - even a slight layer of dust will cut off daylight;
  • for washing windows in such cases, the most common household products for washing glasses;
  • in addition to this (liquid preparations), you will need rubber gloves, a sponge, napkins and slime, since it is extremely difficult to wash windows from the outside in such situations;

Here you see how to wash sliding windows on the balcony and loggia with the help of a slip

  • of course, if you live no higher than the second floor, then you can wash the window from the stairs, but even then not always;
  • in such cases, you can hire a team of washers who descend on slings and perfectly process every centimeter of both glass and profiles for you, but this is too expensive;
  • in order to wash the glass from the outside, you can use the slide on an elongated handle - with such a device you can easily get any centimeter of the surface for cleaning.

Conclusion

I hope that you understand how not only the sashes on sliding windows are removed, but the entire frame - this happens in exactly the same way as installation, only exactly the opposite. I invite you to discuss this topic in the blog or in the comments.

If you want to express gratitude, add a clarification or objection, ask the author something - add a comment or say thanks!

Balcony glazing is one of the most important activities in the process of apartment renovation. Firstly, it is necessary for the insulation of housing, because a significant part of the heat comes out through the balcony. Secondly, after installing windows there, you get additional space that can be used for certain residential or household needs. But, before starting work, you need to decide what material the glazing should be made of. And one of the popular options is aluminum windows to the balcony.

Pros and cons of aluminum windows to the balcony

Installation of aluminum windows on the balcony is gaining more and more popularity today. And for those who are just thinking about this, we will give the pros and cons of such glazing. Let's start with what advantages aluminum windows have on the balcony.

  1. Availability. Often people prefer aluminum windows just because of the low cost. On average, the price for them is 1.5-2 times cheaper than for similar glazing with PVC windows.

  2. Light weight. Aluminum itself is a very light metal. Accordingly, all structures made from it are not heavy, including window frames and sashes for balconies. And because of this property, window structures exert little pressure on the parapet. Therefore, aluminum windows are suitable for installation on balconies located in emergency houses. In addition, it is much easier to carry and install.
  3. High sound insulation. Due to the hermetic frame and tight closing of the sashes, aluminum glazing will protect your home from extraneous noise from the street.

  4. Attractive appearance and the possibility of painting aluminum windows in different colors.
  5. Ease of care– the outer surface of the aluminum glazing frames and sashes is covered with a water-repellent film. Due to this, the product is less prone to pollution from dust and precipitation. Therefore, caring for such frames is much easier than for wooden structures - you just need to wipe the inside and outside with a wet cloth once every few weeks.

  6. High strength and durability- aluminum windows, despite their relative lightness and cheapness, are very strong structures. Their service life is measured in three to four decades.

aluminum windows

Important! For owners small apartments it makes sense to consider the option of glazing the balcony with aluminum windows with a perimeter exceeding that of the parapet. As a result, the usable area of the balcony increases and can be used for location indoor plants in the warm season or as an additional refrigerator in winter.

Section of "warm" and "cold" window aluminum profiles. The first differs from the second in the presence of two glasses with an air gap and a heat-insulating gasket between the outer and inner side

Also, when thinking about purchasing aluminum windows for a balcony, you should be aware of their shortcomings. The main disadvantage of such structures is the insufficient degree of thermal insulation. A balcony with aluminum windows, as a rule, will be “cold” - in winter the temperature in it will exceed that on the street by no more than 5-6 ° C.

Provence style balcony

The design of a balcony or loggia in Provence style is becoming fashionable among our compatriots. They are attracted by low-key elegance, French simplicity, natural materials finishes and the presence of vintage elements. For more detailed information about the issue, we recommend reading this article.

Another disadvantage is that aluminum frames and sashes are installed only on perfectly flat and pre-prepared surfaces. Therefore, before the installation process begins, the parapet will either have to be leveled with cement mixture, or put a wooden board under the structure and already install all the glazing elements on it.

Important! It is desirable that the screwdriver has two batteries - while one is working, the other is charging. After they change places. Thus, the continuity of the workflow is achieved.

Dismantling old glazing - step by step instructions

Before proceeding with the installation of new aluminum windows on the balcony, it is necessary to get rid of the old glazing.

Step 1. The dismantling of the old glazing begins not with the breaking of window frames, but with preliminary measurements. Using a tape measure, the length, height and depth of the opening on the balcony are determined. Without these data, it is impossible to choose an aluminum glazing that is suitable in size.

Preliminary measurements

Tide Width Measurement

Step 3 The building level is carried out along the upper part of the balcony opening - it is necessary to find out how even the concrete slab is, whether there are distortions there. Such defects are characteristic of old houses in disrepair, and this must be taken into account when installing aluminum windows on a balcony.

Checking the evenness of the concrete slab

Important! In the process of performing all measurements, it makes sense to record the results of the work. Craftsmen working in window and balcony glazing companies use standard forms for this purpose, as in the image below. You can also use a regular piece of paper for notes.

Standard form for measurement results

Step 4 Only after all measurements have been completed, you can begin to dismantle the old glazing. Work begins with the removal of the sashes from the hinges. If they (sashes) are in a satisfactory condition, then the process is done carefully, using a screwdriver. But more often, the sashes of the old balcony glazing are removed using scrap. Much faster, more efficient and safer, such work is done in pairs.

When disposing of old window sashes, care must be taken not to allow any parts to fall out into the street. It is also undesirable to break the glasses themselves - there is a risk of injury from them at one time or another

Step 5 The window sill and the ebb are tucked in and removed with a crowbar. If they hold on too tightly and tightly and simply cannot be dismantled, then the craftsmen resort to using a hammer and a chisel - the latter is driven in between the parapet and the window sill (or low tide) in several places. Then scrap is inserted into the gaps formed, the glazing part is hooked and removed from the fasteners.

Removing the tide

Step 6 Then, with a conventional wood saw, cuts are made at several points on each side of the window frame. This operation greatly facilitates the subsequent process of dismantling the structure, making it possible to remove it in small parts.

Making cuts

Step 7 The sawn parts of the balcony glazing frame are removed from their place and removed to the rest of the construction debris. If necessary, resort to the use of scrap.

Removing the sawn parts of the frame

Step 8 After removing all parts of the old glazing, the opening on the balcony is protected from concrete fragments, individual small parts of the frame or from fasteners. Then small irregularities are cleaned. All construction debris resulting from the dismantling of the old glazing is disposed of.

Cleaning of work surfaces

Important! Before installing aluminum windows, serious defects and unevenness of the window opening are eliminated with the help of cement mortar.

Installation of aluminum windows on the balcony - step by step instructions

Now that the balcony opening is free of old and worn-out glazing, new aluminum windows are being installed. As in the previous section, information about this case is presented in the form of a step-by-step instruction.

Step 1. In this example, the alignment of the edge of the parapet is done by setting wooden planks. They are fixed on long self-tapping screws screwed into the concrete. In this case, the boards are aligned horizontally using the building level.

Hole drilling

Self-tapping screw

Step 2 Delivered aluminum window parts are unpacked, counted and checked for defects. Then from individual elements frames are assembled - while rubber gaskets are inserted between them, necessary to seal the joint. The parts are connected to each other with self-tapping screws.

Mounting the rubber gasket on the end part of the frame element

Assembling the horizontal and vertical frame members together

Fixing the frame parts in the connection using twisted self-tapping screws

Step 3 According to the same principles that were outlined in the previous operation, all other frames are assembled. As for the sashes, they are usually delivered already ready-made- assembled and glazed.

Assembly of window frames

Step 4 Anchor plates are installed on the upper part of the frame, with the help of which the structure will be connected to the ceiling on the balcony. Places for installation are not chosen by chance - from the edge of the frame to the anchor plate should be no more than 20 cm, and the interval between the elements should not be more than 40 cm.

Anchor plates are screwed on

Step 5 A window sill is installed on top of the board laid on the parapet. For starters, it aligns horizontally.

Window sill alignment

Step 6 Then the window sill is fixed on the board with self-tapping screws screwed into the part.

window sill fixing

Step 7 By the same principle, the second window sill is laid and fixed. In this case, both parts should fit tightly with each other, and their edges should lie on the same line.

Installing a second window sill

Step 8 A metal tide is laid on the outer side of the parapet over the newly installed window sill. It is fixed with small screws.

Installed metal trap

Step 9 Another low tide is laid nearby, while it not only joins with the previous one, but overlaps with it, as shown in the image below.

The tides are joined with an overlap

Step 10 From one of the edges of the balcony, the installation of the aluminum window frame begins. One of her constituent parts inserted into the opening and fixed there from the bottom up. Its vertical position is controlled by the building level.

Step 11 Part of the aluminum frame is attached to the parapet with self-tapping screws. They are inserted into the corresponding holes in the bottom part and twisted with a screwdriver.

Fastening a part of the aluminum frame to the parapet

Step 12 Another part of the frame is installed next to it. Then it joins with the glazing element installed in the previous operation. Fixation is carried out using self-tapping screws screwed into the side parts of both parts of the aluminum frame.

Installing the second part of the frame

Connection of two structural elements

Step 13 Holes are drilled in the concrete slab on the ceiling of the balcony for attaching the anchor plates. Then dowels are inserted there and self-tapping screws are hammered. The latter fix these plates, and at the same time parts of the aluminum frame from the upper side of the opening.

Hole drilling

Self-tapping screw is clogged

Step 14 Between the ceiling of the balcony and the upper edge of the aluminum frame, a visor is wound up and installed from the outside, which is necessary to protect the glass from pollution during rains and other precipitation. The visor is fastened with self-tapping screws, screwed through the holes in the anchor plates.

The visor starts

Mounting the visor with self-tapping screws

Step 15 The “visor-frame” and “frame-outflow” joints are treated with silicone sealant - not a single drop should penetrate through them into the balcony, even with the heaviest downpour.

Seal joints with silicone sealant

Step 16 On special fasteners and guides of the aluminum frame, the shutters are installed - both rigidly fixed and movable. At the same time, it is checked whether the latter can walk freely and how well the windows on the balcony open and close.

Sash installation

Upon completion of all the above operations, the installation of aluminum windows on the balcony can be considered successfully completed. Now you can get all the benefits of modern and high-quality glazing.

Assembling aluminum sliding windows is similar to installing traditional PVC window structures.

However, there are still differences. Read about them in our article.

What you need to know before assembling aluminum sliding windows

Before installing aluminum sliding windows, it is necessary to check the windows for the presence of various defects: cracks, curvature and scratches. The possible gap between the window frame and the wall varies - about 15-55 mm.

Also remember that the cost of installing aluminum sliding windows does not exceed the cost of installing window structures made of other materials: plastic and wood.

Scheme of assembly of aluminum sliding windows - general progress of work

The frame for the sliding profile is mounted in the same way as for the plastic one. Therefore, we proceed immediately to the installation of sashes.

Installation of aluminum window sashes:

First, guides are fixed, and then sashes are installed in them.

1. The first step is to install the guides along which the sashes will move. To do this, measure the length of the inner side and horizontal sides of the window frame with a tape measure. Make appropriate markings on the guides. And then - cut them according to the markup. Using a file, smooth the sides of the cut.

2. The guides are fixed on the frame. To do this, drill holes in the window opening with a gap of 30 cm from each other. Fasten with screws first the upper and lower guides. And then the sides.

Remember that the distance between the guides and the outer (end) edge of the frame should be no more than 5 cm, otherwise the wall will freeze in winter.

4. Shlegel (brush seal) is attached to the horizontal and vertical sides of the window sash.

5. Install the sash in the upper guides, and then in the lower ones - with rollers.

6. Adjust the rise of the sashes if they close with difficulty. The adjusting screw is located at the bottom of the sash end. To raise the latter, the screw is turned with a hexagon (4 mm) clockwise.

Looking at new buildings, homeowners, where the glazing of the loggias has not been done, are thinking: about the immediate installation of the profile, about the insulation of the balcony room, about finishing inside and outside. In order to perform the installation yourself, you need to have the skills and know some of the nuances of glazing a balcony room, the technology must be observed. This will be discussed below.

Cold glazing of balcony rooms of any size is best done. These days, the market offers an abundance of high quality aluminum alloy profiles. The main advantage of such structures is that the product has a fairly low weight when compared with other profiles. The service life of aluminum structures is 50 years or more. This is very important and should be taken into account when making an estimate. financial investments going to glaze the balcony / loggia. The second advantage is that the construction costs much less than the PVC profile.

To the above one can add:

  • Aesthetics;
  • fire resistance;
  • Strength;
  • Environmental friendliness.

The negative aspects of aluminum glazing include the high thermal conductivity of the material. Equipping a loggia / balcony, this nuance matters. There is an opinion among professionals that aluminum structures are used when cold glazing is planned.

To compensate for the high thermal conductivity, profile manufacturers began to produce structures with an air gap from the inside.

In order to better save heat, this cavity is filled with a special material. Additionally, instead of ordinary glass, reliable double-glazed windows are installed. Thanks to a simple calculation, it became clear that this approach to creating a profile brings aluminum structures to a leading position in the market. The appearance on the market of an aluminum profile makes it possible to make balcony glazing with a removal.

The mounting technology makes it possible to arrange aluminum structures with an extension and not add a serious weight to the load, since their mass is minimal. If the balcony small size, then it is better to arrange a sliding window opening system, this will save space. It is possible to complete and install such a system from aluminum guides.

Balcony glazing with an aluminum profile: installation sequence

Before glazing a loggia or a balcony room with aluminum, it is necessary to complete a competent set of building materials and fasteners. If a House master decides to do all the work on the construction of the structure on his own, then it is necessary to perform a preliminary calculation of the glazing area. This indicator affects the type of profile that will be selected.

According to their functionality, aluminum frames from can be divided into 3 main types:

  • deaf;
  • Swing;
  • Sliding.

The swing profile will be an ideal solution for a wide, voluminous balcony room. If the balcony is medium in size or the loggia is narrow, then it is better to give preference sliding mechanism. In order to ensure highly efficient ventilation of the apartment, it is necessary to arrange 2 opening structures on 4 blind frames.

Cold glazing of the balcony with an aluminum profile

If there are already wooden frames on the loggia, then they must be carefully removed using a special tool. At the same time, the area of \u200b\u200bthe balcony room should be freed from any things and objects. Gotta in without fail check the strength and reliability of the balcony slab.

In older houses, a concrete or brick foundation may lose its original reliability over the years.

The old vertical surface must be reinforced with a metal strap. The arranged metal frame should take on the entire load from the glazed frames. Perhaps go the other way. Make a cement-sand base by pouring. A small formwork is arranged at the top of the parapet. After pouring the solution, the surface must be made even strictly horizontally. It is imperative to wait until the solution is completely dry. Only then is it possible to continue the repair of glazing.

In some cases, the parapet may be leveled by reinforcing a wooden beam on top. This option is well suited for glazing loggias. The canopy is arranged from above immediately after cleaning. This must be done without fail before mounting the frames. The visor must be mounted regardless of what kind of glazing - cold or warm - is done on a particular balcony room. Thanks to this, rainwater will be removed from the double-glazed window. Before starting installation, it is necessary to remove the glazing from the frame. This is done so that the glass does not break during the fastening process.

Since the canopy has already been made, the next step is to strengthen the ebb from below. The void that has formed between the parapet and the ebb must be filled with sealant. The next step is to attach mounting plates to the aluminum profile. It is necessary to mount on construction screws. The distance between the mounting plates should be about 7 cm. After that, the frame must be arranged in the opening.

Design needed:

  • Put;
  • Fasten with wood wedges;
  • Align.

Alignment is a very important step and must be done carefully and carefully. The frame must be leveled horizontally, vertically and in the plane of the balcony / loggia. This is done in order to mark the places in the vertical surfaces and the ceiling where the holes for the fasteners will be drilled. Having strengthened the frame, it is necessary to once again check its orientation in space. Vertical and horizontal deviations cannot be more than 3 mm.

When the rigid structure is in place, it is necessary to mount blind and movable frames.

Sliding sashes should simply be removed and put back. When moving, the sash should open easily. If these conditions are not met, then the metal structure is skewed. You need to inspect and redo everything.

The final stage of installing an aluminum profile for balconies and loggias

At the final stage, it is necessary to seal all the cracks and empty spaces with mounting foam. All foaming zones, both outside and inside, must be covered with plastic flashings. After the finish is completed, fittings must be installed on the frames.

This is also an important stage, everything must be done very carefully. All levers and handles need to be checked and adjusted. The sashes along the guides should move apart well. To do this, the elements must be well lubricated with machine oil.

In conclusion, we note that if you intend to perform the glazing of a balcony room on your own, you need to decide what type of profile will be mounted. To this end, it is necessary to assess the strength of your balcony, its orientation to the side of the sun or shade, and the condition of the residential building as a whole.

In modern multi-storey construction of residential buildings, glazing with aluminum loggias and is gaining more and more popularity. Even in the old housing stock, people have long installed these structures on their balconies.

This, of course, is not about houses of the "stalinok" type or more ancient buildings, in which balconies in most cases have a decorative purpose rather than a functional one.

But in this case, if desired, the balcony can be glazed.

Plastic double-glazed windows

The leading positions in this market are still occupied by plastic double-glazed windows, which have a number of undeniable advantages. Wooden windows, although they are considered the most environmentally friendly design, their high cost and exactingness for constant care scare many away. Designs of aluminum loggias are only gaining momentum in popularity.

Presumably, this is primarily due to the fact that there is not much information about these designs, and there is no such wide advertising that could attract the attention of the consumer. Profiles for balconies and windows made of aluminum, of course, have their advantages and disadvantages, differences between warm and cold.

sliding type

The most popular option for aluminum glazing of loggias is the sliding type. Also, developers install types that are slightly inferior to the ease of use of sliding ones. In the upper and lower technical grooves, special rollers are installed on which window sashes are attached. The presented designs are with 2 and 3 guides.

Movement of shutters is carried out absolutely silently on ball bearings. Depending on the size of the balcony, there can be from 2 to 8 sashes. When the sash is closed, the lock with a balcony latch for sliding aluminum loggias is activated. In order to improve the level, sealing materials are used in practice. Besides, at will, shutters can be deaf, combined and oar.

How to choose an option

What does the term warm and cold aluminum glazing of loggias mean?

Everything is simple here, the cold type of windows implies the use of a profile without insulating thermal pads. Such a profile is characterized by high thermal conductivity, in winter on the same as on the street. This has a plus - it can be used instead of a refrigerator.

The main function that can be obtained from glazing of such a plan is protection from snow, rain, dust, dirt and wind. In this regard, such loggias are not comfortable for staying on them in late autumn and winter. The temperature difference between the street and the balcony will be only 7 - 8ºС.

In order to create comfortable conditions on the balcony, experts advise installing warm aluminum glazing of loggias. The difference between the first and second options is that in this case, the profile is equipped with thermal inserts that can increase the level of aluminum heat retention.

Note. There is an exclusive version of a warm aluminum profile finished with wood on the market. In addition to the decorative function, it provides additional thermal protection.

Advantages of aluminum loggias and balconies

Given that the aluminum structure weighs little, it can be installed on balconies in old residential buildings. Aluminum sliding loggias allow you to save space. This nuance will be especially useful for small balconies. And, probably, it is worth mentioning one of the main advantages of our time - the affordability of the price of an aluminum profile.

Disadvantages of aluminum glazing systems for balconies and loggias

The low level of heat retention makes it impossible to create comfortable conditions for staying in the cold season. On balconies finished with plastic bags it will be much warmer.

On balconies with a cold aluminum profile without thermal inserts, you will feel like you are outside. Accordingly, if it is minus outside, then the temperature is the same on the loggia.

Aluminum profile for balconies and loggias with thermal inserts is much warmer, but still thinner plastic structures. Therefore, it has no advantages over PVC windows, the same applies to the price of the material.

Given that aluminum has a significant rate of thermal expansion, it cannot provide the proper level of heat retention. An aluminum profile with a length of 2 m with temperature fluctuations contracts and expands within 10 - 15 mm. Such swings require special attention to the places where the profile adjoins the walls of the house.

In winter, the cold profile freezes very often, which leads to the formation of ice on the guides. This happens due to the fact that the moisture that has managed to penetrate into them does not have time to fully evaporate through the drainage holes and when sub-zero temperature freezes. This leads to the fact that at some point you will not be able to open the sash. It remains to wait for the moment when everything thaws.

Installation of aluminum loggias

In the modern market of products for glazing balconies and loggias, the Krauss, Provedal, MAK, SIAL, etc. profiles are presented to the attention of the consumer. In new buildings, the Krauss R-400 series profile of the hinged and deaf type is mounted. This profile refers to cold with one glass. Sliding aluminum loggias Provedal and Krauss are leaders in the production of warm and cold profiles for windows. According to the technical and structural characteristics, these profiles have no differences.

Tools and materials for mounting aluminum loggias

If you set out to install an aluminum loggia yourself, armed with the knowledge and support of specialists, you need to prepare such tools for work.

Preparatory work

First of all, you need to dismantle the old frames. It is very important to carry out the work carefully, trying not to damage the parapet. To do this, it is necessary to apply stress to the plane of the frame. After dismantling, inspect the parapet, if there are damages and defects, repair them with cement mortar. The next stage of work on glazing balconies and loggias with aluminum profiles begins after the cement has completely hardened.

Once you've removed all the fasteners, clean up the debris. In order for the installation of the aluminum loggia to be successful and the construction to be reliable, fasten a wooden beam measuring 50 x 50 mm to the base of the balcony. This will simplify the installation process, give the structure additional thermal insulation properties. We take the level and check the evenness of the laying of the timber.

Before starting the installation of the structure, it is necessary to remove the glass. First of all, this applies to deaf elements. This will prevent damage. Also, remove sliding elements.

Work process

To the concrete slab at the top, fix the visor. An ebb is mounted on the bottom plate. The distance between the plate and the drain must be sealed with sealant. Using specially designed self-tapping screws for metal, mounting plates are attached to the profile with a gap of 70 cm.

After the structure is ready for installation, enlist the help of a friend, lift it and install it in the opening. Alignment is carried out using wedges vertically, horizontally and in the plane. The building level will help to check for evenness. After you make the alignment, mark up the ceiling and walls for further mounting plates for mounting.

Holes are made in the walls and ceiling using dowels, plates are fixed. Next, the frame is again checked for evenness of installation, the previously removed elements are installed and the glazing is mounted. The design of the sliding aluminum profile loggia is designed in such a way that it is not difficult to remove and install the sashes in place. The next step is to install the window sill and check the fit to the profile at the bottom of the structure. After that, the window sill should be pulled out.

Note

Horizontal and vertical deviations when installing an aluminum loggia can be a maximum of 3 mm along the entire length and height of the profile. In addition, pay attention to the frame attachment points to avoid profile deflection.

The gaps along the perimeter of the aluminum profile are sealed with mounting foam, starting from the bottom. Then the window sill is fixed in its rightful place.

Carrying out work on foaming the frame, be sure to exercise control over the completeness of filling the slots. At the end of the process, from the inside of the balcony, the slots are closed with special plastic flashings.

Final works

After the aluminum glazing of the loggia balcony is installed, the fittings are fixed, the regulation of the movement of the valves along the guides is checked for smoothness. Also, do not forget about the periodic lubrication of fittings with engine oil.
