Interior decoration of balconies and loggias with cladding options. Redevelopment of a loggia into a room or kitchen: how to coordinate and legalize the connection? Apartment devastation

Is it possible to attach a loggia to a kitchen or a room?

It is carried out with the requirements of Articles 25 and 26 Housing Code Russian Federation, and the change of the loggia - with the 508th Decree of the Government of Moscow.

Balcony can be seen in the context common project, as well as an individual element.

You can attach a balcony to the living room(with reservations). To the kitchen, with significant restrictions.

Housing Code of the Russian Federation Article 25. Types of reconstruction and redevelopment of residential premises

  1. A residential refurbishment is the installation, replacement, or relocation of engineering networks, sanitary, electrical or other equipment requiring changes in technical certificate residential premises.
  2. The redevelopment of a dwelling is a change in its configuration, requiring an amendment to the technical passport of the dwelling.

Find out on our website how to coordinate such repairs, or.

What is a remake?

What applies to changes in the loggia: what can and cannot be done?

Redevelopment is the dismantling or change of everything related to its technical plan.

Glazing applies here - yes, this is exactly the same, along with the elimination of walls or window sills, as well as the installation of new doors.

If the question arose of “redrawing” the balcony, in no case should you take on this matter yourself or contact an amateur designer - there are a lot of nuances in this matter.

Many people prefer to just make changes and remain silent, but, firstly, this will not achieve much: such the change is clearly visible- for example, when moving a heating radiator, you will definitely need to call an engineer from the BTI, and neighbors usually quickly become aware of it.

Illegal work they threaten with litigation, a fine, an order to return the housing to its previous form, and in especially severe cases, the housing may be seized and put up for auction. Is it worth the wasted effort?

But even if a miracle happens and no one finds out anything, the apartment is already it will be impossible to perform legal actions- for example, to sell, exchange or pledge.

Therefore, be sure to contact a licensed design organization and order a work project. Then, along with other documents, it will have to be submitted to the Housing Inspectorate.

The BTI will tell you what other documents are required specifically in your case. Often this permission from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, SES, the Committee for the Protection and Protection of Historical Monuments. Always oblige to provide heat calculation. For a cadastral extract, contact Rosreestr.

After that, all documents are submitted to the Housing Inspectorate. A decision usually takes a standard two weeks. After that, you will be given permission or refusal. which, however, can challenge in court.

Glazing

This, according to Art. 26 LCD RF - exactly the same redevelopment.

Do I need to get permission for it?

The question may seem ridiculous, but in fact there is little funny here, if we recall the penalties for disagreement.

Until now, there have been no cases recorded (at least not announced) when the authorities demanded remove glazing. However, the situation may change.

In any case, in new houses where HOAs are in charge, glazing can only be done with the permission of the design organization.

Often they ask: is it necessary to draw up such repair work, if the balcony was glazed by the previous owners living space, or was this procedure carried out at all before the amendments to the Housing Code?

The answer is simple, look at the BTI plan. If glazing is not indicated there, it is necessary to draw it up.

Thus, it is possible to increase the area of \u200b\u200bthe room or kitchen due to the loggia - but with a number of serious restrictions.

And it is better to get all permissions in advance than to be afraid later that your efforts will go to waste and you will be ordered to remove all changes, because it worsens the living conditions in the neighborhood or threatens fire safety.

Decorating a balcony is not an easy task, but it is not entirely difficult. To begin with, it is recommended to carefully evaluate the actions necessary for its implementation: for example, for houses of the P-46 series, they may be different than for P-44T. If you plan to finish a cold balcony with your own hands, it is quite affordable even for a person without special skills. With due attention to work, you can get a beautiful additional space to the existing living space.

Evaluation of future work

If you have to glaze and finish balconies and loggias, you need to calculate all the actions in advance. First of all, you should decide not only how to sheathe the balcony from the inside, but also decide what work should and can be carried out. Sometimes the possibility of their implementation depends on design features buildings. For example, in P-46 houses, glazing can be carried out both in warm and cold versions. There is a strong enough parapet here to support a frame with double or triple glazing.

If there is a loggia or balcony without glazing, it is too early to talk about finishing work. They will not bring the expected result. First, glazing must be carried out, and in some cases, the erection of walls, roofs, repairs or installation of a parapet. Finishing open balcony will lead to the fact that the materials will soon deteriorate under the influence of the external environment, and all the work will have to be done again.

When deciding how best to sheathe a balcony inside, consider whether it is planned to connect it to the room. In this case, it is necessary to include in the list and work on the creation of a heat-insulating layer.

How to prepare surfaces for work

In order for the inner lining of the balcony to perform its functions for a long time, and to keep warm in the resulting room, it is necessary to qualitatively prepare the walls, ceiling and floor. For this, work is carried out on insulation, waterproofing and glazing.

Finishing the loggia, balconies will turn out to be of high quality only if all the necessary calculations are carefully made. This helps to change the temperature and humidity conditions of the space from cold to warm. It is important to correctly determine how to sheathe the balcony inside. You can consult with experts for this.

The advantages of this approach are:

  1. Installed in place materials for finishing the balcony will not deteriorate from dampness, thermal insulation characteristics layers will not deteriorate.
  2. If a high-quality interior decoration of balconies and loggias is carried out, the space will be quite suitable for being on it even without installing heating appliances. At sub-zero temperature on the street here will be positive.

Before the sheathing of balconies and loggias from the inside begins, it is necessary to decide on the materials for its implementation. Advance preparation should be of interest to every owner who decides to independently carry out part of the finishing work or do it completely on their own. If you can’t decide how exactly the balcony cladding will be done, photos on this topic can help you make a choice.

Depends on materials appearance repaired space, and costs, so the design must be determined in a timely manner. The type of residential building (for example, P-46), the configuration option (for example, “boat”) are taken into account in the calculations.

Do-it-yourself interior decoration of the balcony is carried out only after installing windows and flooring, installing hydro- and heat-insulating layers. After that, the walls are finished on the balcony, the crate is strengthened for the subsequent installation of thermal insulation and the finishing layer. Preparation is recommended in the following order:

  1. Surfaces from all sides are inspected for defects and cracks. All the flaws that are found during the inspection are carefully sealed up, drops, irregularities, cracks are eliminated.
  2. Finishing the walls of the balcony is carried out only after the irregularities are eliminated: the building level is used to determine them. Neglecting this step can lead to the fact that the entire thermal insulation structure will stagger.
  3. The frame and walls must be treated with an antiseptic. This will prevent the appearance of mold or fungus during temperature changes. The sheathing layer thus receives protection against the appearance of condensate.

Most popular finishes

Glazing and finishing of loggias can seriously differ in performance technology from performing such similar operations as installing windows and finishing a balcony inside, since we are talking about different designs. There are also plenty of options to get the job done. When choosing, it is necessary to focus primarily on the type of construction: for example, the decoration of the P44T loggia of the “boot” type, which has 3 planes, differs from the “boat” option. The difference between them is in quadrature and configuration - the “boat” has one less plane. Working with walls small balcony performed differently than with large surfaces.

Finishing options for balconies and loggias are as follows:

  1. Finishing is carried out depending on the goals and taste of the owners. A well-thought-out design may include plasterboard wall cladding. The use of GKL allows you to work without the use of adhesives. Such a sheathing can act as a basis for facing with plaster, tiles. The advantages of this type of design are the strength and practicality of the material, resistance to fire. But it will be difficult to hang anything on the walls because of their fragility.
  2. The once popular wood trim of the balcony is often replaced MDF panels: a material similar in appearance is easier to install, unpretentious and cheaper.
  3. Balcony cladding can be done using decorative plaster, tinted to the color that the invented design requires.
  4. Popular decoration of the balcony with cork or decorative stone. This gives the walls a natural, natural color. Often, for the same purpose, the balcony is finished with a block house.
  5. Finishing the balcony with plastic is convenient to perform, easy to maintain. The material belongs to the category of self-levelling and does not require long, laborious preparatory surface treatment.

To calculate the balcony glazing and decoration, you should first consider the design, the design of which will mainly affect the costs. Interesting ideas can be found by looking at the balconies that have already been finished, photos of which are posted below (Fig. 1, 2).

Lathing device

When performing work independently, difficulties may arise that need to be resolved in a timely manner. If you are finishing the balcony with your own hands, it is advisable to view the video (video 1) on this topic in advance. Viewing will help you get a better idea of how the balcony is being finished from the inside.

For example, you can consider the options for finishing work available for review or consult with specialists. The interior decoration of a balcony in Khrushchev or another building usually begins with the arrangement of the crate. As its elements, wooden slats or aluminum profiles are useful. If the balcony is tiled, the lining can be made of plasterboard. If finishing works are carried out using panels and plastic elements are used, fixing profiles are required. They will frame the surfaces around the perimeter.

Before performing the crate, you need to decide how to finish the walls on the balcony and what will be the direction of the elements. Depending on this, the battens of the crate are mounted - their correct location will provide greater convenience in subsequent actions.

When determining how to sheathe a balcony with your own hands, it must be borne in mind that the vertical arrangement of the elements will visually make it higher. And, on the contrary, trimmed with horizontal elements, it will seem wider. If you finish the walls diagonally, the process will be laborious. It is not very convenient, especially in a small space.

Why carry out such finishing work

The issues of finishing balconies can be described as relevant today. A typical option will not cause difficulties even for an inexperienced person. A good photo can help or detailed instructions, where all stages of work are clearly spelled out.

A small corner of an apartment being finished independently or with the involvement of a team of professionals is not uncommon in our time. The advantages of such a solution are obvious: from unused space, often cluttered unnecessary things, you can build in a short period of time a convenient functional room, give it the desired design and get additional living space. It is only necessary to solve the questions of how to finish the balcony inside, what design to choose to make it good, cozy office or just a small room. In such rooms, even mini-gyms, rooms for children, or simply beautifully decorated corners with vegetation are arranged. This design will give the room a well-groomed look and attract the attention of guests.

If you are going to finish the balcony inside with your own hands, the calculation of materials and work can be ordered by professionals. In the future, you can act according to pre-prepared instructions. If you have difficulty deciding how to finish the balcony, you should first determine the end result. You can search and read product reviews to determine which ones are best for your purpose. For example, the P-46 series of houses is distinguished by the arrangement of extensive balcony spaces. Finishing material should be selected with this in mind. In the houses of the P-46 series, small structures without canopies are also arranged - for them it is necessary to include roof arrangement in the list of works.

Combining a balcony with a living room is perhaps the only way to increase usable living space, especially in small apartments. After planning and a series of installation work, you can get a new very original interior. There are 2 ways of such a combination: removal of a window and a balcony door without a window sill or its complete dismantling along with the threshold. In the second case, it is necessary to coordinate the redevelopment with utilities and BTI, and the complexity of the work increases.

Combining a balcony with a room has the following advantages:

  1. the area of the room increases;
  2. the room becomes more lit;
  3. the apartment acquires an original design.
  4. But this method of expanding usable space also has disadvantages:
  5. the complexity of the work;
  6. in the case of complete dismantling of the threshold and window sill, mandatory approval from the BTI;
  7. additional insulation is required.

If all these difficulties do not frighten the owners of the apartment, then you can start work, which will include 4 stages: creating a redevelopment project, coordinating with the BTI, dismantling existing ceilings, finishing a new space.

Coordination in BTI

If it is planned to completely demolish the balcony partition, then it will not be easy to legalize all operations, a number of documents are required from state bodies, in particular permission from the housing inspectorate and a detailed work plan agreed with the design organization. First, you should contact the BTI and take a registration certificate for the apartment, then order a redevelopment project with it from the appropriate organization. Such performers must have a mandatory certificate for carrying out such work.

There are many nuances associated with the dismantling of balcony ceilings. For example, a balcony must necessarily have glazing with sliding doors; it is impossible to bring radiator batteries to its territory from a dismantled window sill wall. If all redevelopment work is approved by the housing inspection, then you can proceed to their execution. At the end of the dismantling, a commission is called, which evaluates the redevelopment and draws up an act of completion. With this document, you must again contact the BTI to reissue the registration certificate for an apartment with a new layout.

How to do a remodel

Before starting any redevelopment, it should be remembered that the balcony and the living room have a different climate, so the converted room should be comfortable for living in all seasons. On the loggia, there is usually a minimum of cladding and bare concrete partitions, and in the combined room it is worth making high-quality interior decoration and thermal insulation.

With a simple expansion of the room without dismantling load-bearing structures and coordination in utilities, the task is to remove windows, frames, doors and door frames and then finish and insulate the resulting space. First, doors, ordinary windows with vents or double-glazed windows are removed from the hinges. Then the frames are removed door frame and anchor beams. To do this, you need: a crowbar or a small mount, a hacksaw for wood and a hammer. AT panel house, especially if double-glazed windows were installed before, there may be metal pins that need to be cut with a grinder or a hacksaw.

The main problem that is primarily encountered when continuing work is the different levels of the floor in the room and on the loggia. This is due to the fact that the bearing plates have different thicknesses. To extend the floor of the same level from the room you can use bulk technologies using dry leveling compounds. This method has a significant drawback - there will be a large load on the balcony floor, these plates may not be designed for such a weight.

Another more efficient and safer way to match the levels in both rooms is to use timber framed floors. At the same time, another advantage will be achieved: under the top layer of such a coating, thermal insulation made of foam, mineral wool or other insulating material can be placed, additional protection moisture or heating system.

Next, the question arises about the insulation of the front and side walls of the balcony. The combined room will have a larger volume, and the external walls of the loggia in standard apartments are not insulated enough to maintain a comfortable temperature in winter. The difficulty is also that it is impossible to expand the batteries from the central heating to the balcony area. Therefore, it is necessary to insulate the outer walls as much as possible.

For insulation, as well as vapor barrier, protection against noise and moisture, penofol is effective - a material made of polyethylene foam and foil coatings. It has a small thickness, therefore, saves space, is supplied in rolls and glued with aluminum tape. The second suitable insulation is foam, the main advantage of which is the price. But despite the low cost, it effectively copes with protection from the cold. The foam sheets are fixed into the wall frame, the gaps between them are foamed, moisture and vapor protection is installed on top, then the finish coat.

Mineral wool is an inorganic fiberglass material. Compared with other heat insulators, it has the main drawback - it pricks during installation, even if you protect your hands and face as much as possible, some particles will get on the skin, which causes discomfort. But unlike other materials, it can clog any gap.

The most expensive material for insulating a balcony is polystyrene foam or foamed polystyrene with a layer of foil. It has not only excellent thermal insulation, but also vapor protection, resistance to moisture and chemical attack. Penoplex rolls are easily rolled into a thin and durable layer.

Some owners, when combining a loggia and an apartment, also use external thermal insulation from the side of the street. To do this, they can mount a thermal coat based on mineral wool or foam. The complexity of the work lies in the fact that it is problematic to install an insulating layer on the outer walls from the apartment. Therefore, for high floors, some are forced to order special vehicles for work.

After the issue of thermal insulation is resolved, proceed to the final finishing of the combined space. Ideally, a living room or kitchen combined with a balcony should have a single look, so it is best to do all repairs to floors, walls and ceilings at the same time.

The window sill space remaining after dismantling can be successfully used as a small table or bar counter. To do this, its side boards are leveled, puttied and covered with paint or wallpaper. It is important to consider that batteries from the central heating system are most often located inside this small wall. Therefore, finishing should be carried out, given that this is a place with elevated temperatures. A countertop is usually installed on the upper part of the window sill.

Another option for using this small wall is for shelving. Additional shelves made of wood or plastic are installed on the upper part. The result is a very stylish and functional element of the interior. This idea is especially successful if there is a bedroom inside, and outside workplace With desk and computer. Books, documents and other office supplies are placed on the rack.

If produced complete dismantling wall separating the loggia and the room, then you should take care of the redevelopment of central heating systems in advance. External or built-in batteries must be removed, which will require skilled locksmith and welder work. But after the redevelopment, you can maximize the area of \u200b\u200bthe room.

The resulting U-shaped opening is decorated different ways. You can create a division functional areas with arched roofing. This is a very popular method that looks spectacular, but at the same time does not visually reduce free space. The arch can be symmetrical or uneven, rounded, with right angles or in the shape of a trapezoid. Most often, these elements are made from a plasterboard frame with metal stiffeners, less often from wood or plastic. Additionally, zones can be distinguished using spot lighting.

Another method of separating two zones using curtains, a screen or sliding doors. They will also help create a shadow inside the bedroom or living room if it is a very bright day outside, and in cool weather protect a little from low temperatures.

It is possible to connect two former premises together without highlighting two different zones through a common finish, decor and lighting. Then you just get a more spacious and bright room. But keep in mind that in this case it is necessary to insulate not only the walls and floors, but also the ceiling, since it has the same thin and not insulated balcony slab.

As for lighting, you can use common lamps that belong to the room, especially since there is an excellent light on the balcony for most of the day. natural light. It is possible to bring point devices or, for example, a floor lamp to the outer zone, but additional power cables from the home network will be required.

The idea to combine a balcony and a room is quite interesting. After all, this allows you to increase the existing living space by several meters, which is valuable and relevant for owners of small apartments. But first you need to ask yourself: how legal is such a redevelopment, and whether you will have to face any problems in the future due to the alignment of the balcony with the room.

Is it possible to attach a balcony to a room

There are significant differences between what you decide to combine: a balcony or a loggia. The fact is that often the loggia is called a balcony. Meanwhile, from the point of view of building and housing standards, these concepts are different.

A balcony is a fenced structure protruding beyond the facade of a building. The entrance to the balcony is usually carried out from the side of the apartment through the door, which is connected to the window into a single balcony block.

The balcony slab is attached to the wall from the entrance side and has a small bearing capacity. According to technical standards, balcony slabs are able to withstand weight up to 200 kg/sq.m. But the statutory load rate is only 112 kg/m2. And given that the modern housing stock (including balcony slabs) is very worn out, it is highly recommended not to overload the balcony with bulky structures and heavy materials because of the risk of its collapse.

The loggia is non-residential premises built into the building. At least the side railings are the wall of the house. concrete base relies on half-bearing or bearing walls building. Of course, compared to a balcony, a loggia can withstand much greater weight loads and is more stable.

Differences between a balcony and a loggia in a schematic representation
What is the difference between a balcony and a loggia: an example in the photo.

Both the balcony and the loggia are unheated premises and moving batteries into these areas is prohibited.

So, if you are the owner of a balcony, and not a loggia, then, unfortunately, there are no legal possibilities for combining a balcony and a room by dismantling a balcony block. The current legislation directly prohibits the reconstruction of the building (namely, this is how the courts regard the demolition of the balcony block) by residents. In the event that such cases are identified, violators will be required to return the balcony block back at their own expense, and possibly also pay a fine (by court order).

What if you really want to expand the area of \u200b\u200bthe apartment due to the balcony, but according to the law, combining a balcony with a room is prohibited?

How to combine a balcony with a room

The easiest and most economical option for combining a balcony and a room is to replace balcony door on a fully glass sliding partition (from floor to ceiling). In this case, the dismantling of the balcony block, and hence the reconstruction of the building, does not occur.

To bypass the prohibition of combining a balcony with a room, replace the balcony door with glass partition.

Such a glass partition can be kept mostly open, and if necessary, quickly returned to its place, closing the opening between the balcony and the room.

Unfortunately, as already mentioned, it is impossible to completely remove the balcony window and door, as well as the wall between the balcony and the room. In this regard, the owners of loggias are more fortunate, since they have such an opportunity.

Glazing and insulation of a balcony attached to a room

There are not as many options for insulating a balcony as there are loggias, due to the limitations of the weight load on the balcony slab. Perhaps the most optimal and not very expensive way would be to perform warm glazing aluminum profile, close up all the cracks and install a warm floor. These measures should be enough to keep a comfortable temperature on the balcony during the cold season.

If you want to additionally heat the balcony room, then use portable heating appliances, such as a convector or an oil cooler.

It is better to entrust the work on glazing the balcony to a specialized company. The thickness of the double-glazed window must be at least 2-chamber. You can also add a heat-saving coating to the double-glazed window, which will save up to 30% of heat. Such a double-glazed window differs from the usual one in that it has high ability reflect ultraviolet, transmits a lot of daylight (which means you can save on electricity for lighting the room), and also protects the glass from mechanical damage.

Pay attention to the accessories used. She must be good quality from trusted manufacturers. Poor fittings are often the cause of fogging windows and poor sound insulation.

The last step in the insulation of the balcony in order to attach it to the room will be the installation of a warm floor. Most often, on balconies and loggias, an electric heated floor is used, which is cable, frosted and infrared. There is also a water heated floor, but its use in apartments is prohibited by law, therefore it will not be considered in this article. Let us dwell in more detail on the features, main advantages and disadvantages of each type.

Cable floor heating- as heating element an electrical cable is used, which is connected to the mains. The electrical cable is laid over the entire surface of the balcony floor, a concrete screed is required on top. Then the flooring is laid, which can be laminate, tile or linoleum.

The advantages of cable underfloor heating include: uniform air heating, lower power consumption compared to thermal radiators and convectors, prevention of heat loss.

The disadvantages of cable underfloor heating are: slow heating (from 30 minutes), the creation of an electromagnetic field (albeit small, less than from mobile phone), the need for a concrete screed. It is also not recommended to install voluminous furniture, because. on the floor in these places darkening may form from overheating.

matt floor- here the cable is fixed on a special grid, which greatly simplifies its installation. Concrete screed under it is not required. It is ideal to use under tiles, as well as porcelain stoneware, laminate, parquet, linoleum, carpet.

Infrared heated floors Much better than cable

  • provide more a high degree warming up the balcony (at the ceiling level, the air temperature will be about 200С, and not 150С-180С as with cable and water heated floors);
  • energy saving up to 20%;
  • the room warms up faster in time;
  • safe to use (does not shock, does not burn or freeze), electromagnetic radiation is less;
  • installation does not require coordination with housing and communal services;
  • easy and quick installation, the ability to remove or re-lay to another place.

The disadvantages of an infrared floor include the fact that a preliminary leveling of the floor is required, and it is more difficult to connect electricity to it.

However, given the numerous advantages, we would recommend that you make a choice in favor of infrared floor heating for heating a balcony or loggia.

How to use the balcony attached to the room

So, all the main work on attaching the balcony to the room has been completed and you have become the owner of additional square meters of your apartment. How now to use them with maximum benefit?

We offer you some practical ideas use of the balcony space.

Balcony as a workplace or office

A very popular option for those who work from home and are simply necessary. Agree, it is very convenient when there is such a corner in the apartment where you can work quietly in relative silence, admiring the view from the window.

An office on the balcony is an up-to-date and fashionable solution!

Dressing room on the balcony

Another attractive option is to arrange a dressing room on the former balcony. There you can arrange hangers with clothes, arrange shoes. This will help not only free up space in the cabinets, but also make the process of collecting somewhere more convenient.

Greenhouse on the balcony

If you like to grow crops, and all the window sills are already full flower pots, then the balcony area will help you or even a mini-garden.

Game room on the balcony

This is a great option for families with children, especially large families. The balcony can be turned into a playroom where children can play in their free time. You can also store toys, construction sets, etc. there, freeing up space in the children's room.

Balcony guest room

If you decide to implement the idea of combining balconies and rooms, share your experience in the comments. You can also ask your questions on this topic.

The interior decoration of the balcony is an event that is resorted to to create a comfortable atmosphere in this room and expand the living space of the apartment. Work begins with the choice of material. It should be noted right away that no matter which option is chosen, it is important that the material is of high quality, therefore it is better to refuse dubious purchases in the markets and from hands.

This material is a planed board with natural moisture. There is a subspecies of building material called eurolining. These are better products with profiles of complex geometric shapes, as well as ventilation ducts. At the same time, the material is more demanding on the level of humidity in the room and the quality of the rough surface.

The advantages of lining:

  1. Environmental friendliness. The material consists of 100% natural raw materials, which does not pose a danger to the health of people of any age category.
  2. Long service life. On condition correct installation and use lining can last up to 20 years.
  3. Ease of installation. Products are equipped with a connecting system, so installation does not take much time. A novice master will cope with finishing the balcony in 1 day.
  4. Additional insulation. Despite the fact that lining is a simple finishing material, it protects the room from noise to a small extent and retains heat.

Lining - one of the most popular finishing options for balconies and loggias

Lining installation

Before sheathing the balcony inside, you should stock up on the following tools and consumables:

  • Screwdriver, hammer drill or impact drill, jigsaw.
  • Square, building level, tape measure.
  • Hammer or ax, 3 cm nails, dowel-nails up to 6x100, wood screws.

Tools and expendable materials necessary for mounting lining on the balcony

Then you need to carry out the following preparatory work:

  1. Remove the old coating and thoroughly clean the substrate. Tap it with a hammer to identify weak fragments, they must be removed, and the resulting potholes should be covered with a cement-sand mortar or putty.
  2. Check the evenness of the walls. With a strong blockage, it is recommended to apply a rough plaster layer, on which the lining will subsequently be attached.
  3. Thoroughly soak each product with a special antiseptic composition.

Preparatory work before lining installation

Next comes the installation of the crate. This stage is time-consuming and responsible, so it is worth talking about it separately. First of all, you need to mark up, the lines should be located 50-70 cm apart and 10 cm from the walls. After that you need to cut wooden blocks and drill holes in them for fasteners in increments of 15 cm. Using dowels and self-tapping screws, the crate is installed on the wall.

Now you can start lining the inside of the balcony with your own hands:

  • You need to take the first element, lean it against the crate and fix it on it by driving a nail in the middle of the spike.
  • Then you need to take the second element and connect it to the first by inserting the spike into the groove.
  • Thus, finish the entire surface.
  • Before entering the area near the walls and ceiling, the material will have to be cut with a jigsaw.

On a note! You can also use clamps instead of nails. Then the fastening will be invisible.

MDF panels

For cladding the balcony, MDF panels are also used, which are fiberboards. The modern construction market offers several types of this material: flat products with a protective polymer coating on the front side and panels with embossed patterns.

The benefits are:

  1. Do-it-yourself balcony cladding will require a minimum of money, time and effort.
  2. No serious preparatory work is required.
  3. Behind the panels you can hide electrical wiring or other utilities, you can also lay insulation.
  4. The material is produced in a wide range color scheme and in different sizes.

Balcony decoration with MDF panels

Installation work

Sheathing of balconies from the inside begins with the preparation of the tool and the installation of the crate. It should be noted that given material somewhat similar to lining, therefore, it requires exactly the same preparatory actions. The only difference is that the panels can be installed on a crate made of wooden slats or metal profiles. The installation process is as follows:

  • The first element is installed in the corner. It is attached to the clamp, but if such fasteners were not at hand, then an ordinary construction bracket will do.
  • The next panel is installed in the groove of the previous one and fixed in the same way.
  • After finishing the entire wall, plugs are installed on the edges of the coating.

The process of sheathing a balcony with MDF panels on wooden frame

Plastic panels

To sheathe a balcony inside with your own hands, sometimes plastic panels are used. This building material is inexpensive and easy to install, so it has gained popularity among domestic users. It is a PVC sheet equipped with a connecting system.

Advantages plastic material for finishing loggias and balconies:

  1. Wide range of colors. Thanks to this feature, you can create a unique interior on the balcony.
  2. Easy care. It is enough to wipe such a coating with a damp cloth or sponge.
  3. Can last up to 30 years. At the same time, it is resistant to temperature extremes, exposure to water and sunlight.
  4. Low cost. Plastic panels on the this moment considered the most affordable option for interior cladding of balconies.

As a budget finishing material plastic panels can be used to finish the balcony

Mounting technology

The preparatory work is exactly the same as in the previous cases:

  • Removal of old coating and preparation of a rough surface.
  • Measurements of the area, marking, installation of the crate.
  • Acquisition of material with a margin of 10%.
  • Acquisition of sound and heat insulation.

The first profile is fixed with a self-tapping screw on the ceiling crate. You need to start at the top to make it easier to work. After that, you need to fix the profile in the center, which will be the guide. Under the installed elements, wiring is laid, as well as insulation. The entire ceiling is covered with panels using a tongue-and-groove system. The last panel, most likely, will have to be cut. The walls are finished in the same way. Plastic plugs are used to decorate the corners.

Drywall

Sheathing a balcony with drywall is only permissible if painting, decorative plastering, liquid wallpaper and so on. This material is quite popular for interior decoration, despite the fragility and soiledness.

The positive aspects of drywall are as follows:

  1. Relatively low cost.
  2. Quick and easy installation.

Important! This material is made on the basis of gypsum, so it requires preliminary waterproofing.

Drywall is often used for cladding a balcony, but only as a base for decorative coatings.

Sheathing of balconies and loggias with plasterboard

Before sheathing the balcony with drywall, it is necessary to prepare the surface and install the crate:

  • Draw a line in the center of the ceiling and a few perpendicular to it.
  • Draw lines along the perimeter of the room at a distance of 5 cm from the ceiling.
  • Make marks on the ceiling through 1/3 of the length of the sheet of building material.
  • crop metal profiles before the right sizes scissors.
  • Using dowels, fix the rails on the wall, and on the ceiling by means of an anchor connection.
  • Starting from the corners of the balcony, install the profiles on the ceiling, and then on the walls with dowels - in increments of 40 cm on the ceiling and 60 cm on the wall.

After that, you can start laying heat and sound insulating materials and, if necessary, utilities. The cut sheets of insulation are installed between the crate and the rough surface. The resulting design is covered with foil, fixing it with a stapler. Now you can sheathe the balcony from the inside with drywall.

The order of work is the same as in the case of the crate: first, work is carried out on the ceiling, then on the walls.

  1. The first step is to prepare the material. To do this, the sheets are cut to the required dimensions and chamfered from them (the edge is slightly turned to make it easier to putty the seam later).
  2. The first element is mounted 20 cm from the corner on self-tapping screws in increments of 15 cm. The hat must be drowned in the surface, but it is important not to overdo it so that the sheet does not crack.
  3. Similarly, the rest of the sheets are installed on the main area of \u200b\u200bthe ceiling and walls. At the end, small fragments of material are mounted in the corners and begin to putty.
  4. A primer is applied to the finished coating, and after it dries, a thin layer of putty is applied.
  5. While the material has not yet dried, a sickle is laid on it and covered with a thicker layer of putty.
  6. At the end, the surfaces are primed again to prepare for further finishing.

Siding

Usually this material is used for finishing facades, but it is permissible to use it inside the balcony. Products are made on the basis of vinyl, therefore they have the following advantages:

  • Good resistance to atmospheric influences (precipitation, wind).
  • The absence of substances harmful to human health in the composition.
  • Good level of ventilation, providing timely removal of moisture from under the coating.
  • The material tolerates high and low temperatures well, therefore installation work can be done at any time of the year.
  • Possibility of spot repairs.

Installation of siding inside the balcony

Preparatory work, tools and consumables are exactly the same as in previous cases. Inside the balcony can be damp, so it is better to treat all surfaces with an antiseptic composition and lay waterproofing material.

Installation of siding begins with the installation of a frame for panels. Wooden slats are stuffed on the ceiling at a distance of 40 cm, on the wall - 50 cm. Cross slats are mounted at a distance that is 5 cm less than the length of the element. The crate is attached to the dowels.

Before installing the siding, it is necessary to erect a wooden frame and lay waterproofing material

Should know! Before starting the installation, it is recommended to treat the crate with an antiseptic.

Then the heater is installed. A thermal insulator is mounted in the formed voids of the frame and fixed with a waterproof film. As a result, the balcony will turn into an insulated room.

Now consider how to properly sheathe a balcony with siding. First of all, special guide profiles are mounted on the crate, after which the siding is cut to the required size using metal shears. There is no need to make indents, the first panel is placed right in the corner and secured with a self-tapping screw. For its wide part, the tongue of the next panel is brought in and also fixed. Thus, they trim the entire area. At the end, plugs are installed on the corners and edges of the coating.

Sandwich panels

This material has a three-layer structure. The outer layers are made of metal, and the inner one is a heater, for example, mineral wool. Sandwich panels are a popular option for finishing a balcony due to the following features:

  • Safety and environmental friendliness.
  • High rates of heat and sound insulation.
  • Light weight, which reduces the load on the balcony and makes installation easier.
  • No need for further finishing.
  • Pathogenic microorganisms cannot develop on the surface.

Sandwich panels are often used for finishing a balcony due to their sound and heat insulating properties.

Panel installation

  1. The installation process begins with fixing the fasteners: internal corners and final parts on the crate.
  2. Preparatory work is the same as in the case of the above materials.
  3. If the panels are planned to be mounted up to the ceiling, then the first thing to do is to install a plinth at the top of the crate.
  4. The first panel is installed on a metal or wooden frame in the corner closer to the ceiling. It is fixed with a self-tapping screw, after which the next element is inserted into the groove. The rigidity of the structure is ensured by a reliable tenon-groove connection, so you can do without additional fastening of each part with self-tapping screws.
  5. Before installing the next element, it is necessary to check the evenness of the installation of the current one. It is also important to ensure that gaps and backlash do not form.
  6. After finishing the entire wall, it is necessary to install additional elements on the edges and external corners of the material.
  7. The design is checked building level, after which it can be used.

Conclusion

The better to sheathe a balcony inside, each owner will decide for himself. The above materials do not differ much in cost, with the exception of sandwich panels, since they already have insulation. The balcony area is small, which also has a positive effect on the cost of work. It doesn’t matter what exactly will be chosen as the material for finishing, the main thing is to follow the above recommendations and do not forget to check the correct installation of products by level.
