What plastic windows are in size. All about eurowindows - Why is it worth buying eurowindows? Standard window sizes

Exist different types plastic windows. Moreover, window systems can differ from each other in a number of characteristics: size, shape, sash design and other features. The size of the window usually corresponds to the window opening. Of course, it is possible to mount a window smaller than a window opening, but this is rarely required. Often the size of plastic windows is clearly adjusted to the size of the opening. In order for the room to be adequately illuminated, windows should occupy at least 10-15% of the wall area.

If we talk about differences in the shape of windows, then the standard shape is rectangular. But if the building is designed according to individual project, with rounded or arched window openings, windows of a special shape may be required. Modern technologies make it possible to easily produce such windows. The most diverse options for plastic windows allow you to highlight the comparison of the designs of window sashes and frames. Let's try to figure out what are the design options for window systems.

blind windows

The simplest design option is fixed or blind windows. But due to the fact that such windows do not open at all, this design option is used extremely rarely. Usually they are installed in rooms with a constantly on climate control or air conditioning system. To wash such windows, those specialists who use the methods of industrial mountaineering are usually attracted. Therefore, it is most reasonable to install such windows in office buildings.

Usually blind windows are installed in high-rise buildings. The fact is that at the height of skyscrapers, opening windows is not only dangerous, but also unacceptable. Therefore, blind windows with extra strong glass are installed in skyscrapers. At the same time, the premises are ventilated using a ventilation system, climate control or air conditioners. But there are cases when fixed windows are used in low-rise commercial, industrial or entertainment buildings, where there is absolutely no need to open windows, and the air conditioning system maintains the microclimate. AT residential buildings blind windows can be installed in technical rooms or on stairwells. And hardly such a window can be found in an ordinary apartment.

Traditional and innovative eurowindows

Traditional types of plastic windows include sashes that open into the room. Thanks to this, you can wash the glass without the risk of falling out and the need to use special tricks. But such a system also has its drawbacks. To open the doors inward, you need free space. Therefore, pots with houseplants or furniture pushed up to the window can interfere with the full opening of the sash. Such windows are suitable for those people who are accustomed to the construction of old wooden windows and do not want to change their habits. However, there are types of traditional plastic windows that provide more freedom, although they are more expensive.

There is also a more innovative design of a plastic window, which allows you to open the sashes both inward and outward. This is the most attractive option. Inside, the shutters open if you need to wash the outer glass. And if you need to ventilate the room without removing it from the windowsill flower pots, you can open the sash outwards. Typically, such windows are equipped with the additional ability to fix the open window in any position to protect it from sudden gusts of wind.

Folding design of a metal-plastic eurowindow

If we talk about what are plastic windows, not to mention the folding windows. The sashes of such windows open in a vertical plane. The opening angle is small. Despite the ability to ventilate the room at any time, washing the outer glass from the inside is quite problematic, and sometimes simply impossible. The advantages of the folding design include resistance to gusts of wind. In addition, such windows, even when open, take up very little space.

This design is ideal for rooms in medium-rise buildings, when it is dangerous to fully open the doors, but the penetration of the wind does not yet create a serious danger. We are talking about thirty-story buildings. predict behavior air masses at a height of more than a hundred meters it is already difficult, so skyscrapers use blind windows with extra strong glass and frames.

Types depending on the manufacturer

Today, many people ask which company is better than plastic windows. All plastic profiles can be divided into elite, high-quality and low-quality ones. It is better to discard poor-quality ones right away, as they can turn yellow over time and burst with temperature changes. In the category of high-quality elite windows, it is rather difficult to choose the best one, since all of them are almost equal in price and have their own unique features. From ourselves we recommend window systems of the brands Rehau, KBE, Funke and Veka.

Today, windows are made from a variety of materials and can have a variety of shapes. Based on this, you can ask the question: what are the windows? The correct answer to the question is the classification of products.

For example, they can be divided into types according to the material used to make them:

  • PVC structures;
  • wooden;
  • aluminum;
  • combination windows.

In addition to the material, the frame can be divided into groups according to the design:

  • paired;
  • separate;
  • single.

Today, products can be with single glazing or with double-glazed windows.

Classification of windows by material

Today, systems are manufactured using very sophisticated technologies, which achieves excellent results in heat and sound insulation. PVC products are very popular today. But for those who prefer the classic version, wooden frames are also made using new technologies. As a result, the finished product is radically different from the old wooden ones.

Metal-plastic.

Metal-plastic structures have been known to the world for over 50 years. On the territory of our country, they appeared much later. All products were imported from other countries, since domestic production was not established. Today, using the technology of leading brands, products are manufactured in the country. The metal-plastic device consists of:

  • PVC profile;
  • amplifier made of galvanized steel, which is located inside the profile chambers;
  • high quality fittings;
  • double-glazed window.

Using a PVC profile in a production environment, you can create a window of a completely different configuration.

Aluminum windows.

Many people associate aluminum with industrial buildings, offices, shops. It is in such establishments that aluminum window frames are most often used. Due to their strength, such frames are installed in houses where they will be subjected to intense loads. Also, very often such metal frames are used for the construction of winter gardens, glazing balconies. It is this frame that will allow you to create a large window.

Wooden windows.

Previously, houses were installed only wooden windows, which deformed over time, cracks formed through which heat was lost and cold entered. Today, in order to create a wooden window, new technologies are used. For the manufacture of such windows, solid wood or a three-layer beam is used. It is the use of glued laminated timber that completely eliminates the possibility of any deformation. The glazing is modern double-glazed windows with one or two chambers.

Combined type of windows

According to experts, such windows in the near future will take a leading position in the field of glazing. This is due to the fact that several materials are used in such windows, for example, wood and aluminum, wood and plastic, etc. By absorbing the most best qualities materials used, such windows will last a very long time without causing unnecessary trouble in their maintenance.

The brightest option combination window is a structure made of a three-layer profile. The first layer is decorative, made of wood. The second layer is made of metal, it protects the structure from impact. environment and also gives the frame rigidity and stability. The third layer is made of polyvinyl chloride, the main purpose of using this material is a significant increase in thermal insulation qualities.

Key Features

Windows are the source natural light in the apartment and access to fresh air. This is especially important in apartments where ventilation systems don't work so well.

But at the same time, they create significantly greater heat losses in the cold season. It is through the glazing that the most a large number of heat. In order to significantly reduce such losses, it is necessary to choose the right profile, clarify the design of the double-glazed window, and control all junctions. Blinds and curtains can be additional measures to keep the heat in.

Double-glazed windows.

A very large role in the preservation of heat is played by the number of glasses in a double-glazed window. There are options for windows with one glass, but heat loss in this case will be maximum.

A double-glazed window, in which two glasses are installed, forms a kind of air gap, which will reduce heat loss. Modern double-glazed windows can have two or three sheets of glass. Additionally, the space between them is filled with dry air or gas.

All joints are closed with sealing profiles.

In addition to light through the windows, extraneous sounds and noise penetrate the room. Sound insulation will depend on the number and thickness of the glass. To minimize the passage of extraneous sounds, it is worth taking care of sealing all joints, not only the window structure, but also the junctions of the window with the opening.

When choosing a system, special attention should be paid to the type of opening. Today, thanks to fittings, products can be:

  • folding;
  • rotary;
  • swing-out;
  • deaf;
  • sliding.

Silent design.

This design does not involve opening the valves. The product is much cheaper than other options, and is as reliable as possible. It is rarely used in homes, since it is almost impossible to wash it from the street if it is not located on the first floor. The only option may be to completely remove the double-glazed window and then reinstall it. Blind windows can be installed on the side walls of the balcony or in the entrances. They can also be installed in private homes as a source natural light in the hallway or terrace.

Folding design.

If the window is equipped with hinged fittings, it can be opened to the ventilation position (vertical opening). Normal opening is not available in this case. Like a blind window, this design does not have access to the outside, which prevents the window from being cleaned. Such a window can be installed in a place where full opening cannot be carried out. This is possible if the layout of the house does not have enough space to allow the sash to open fully. But, unlike a deaf one, such a window makes it possible to gain access to fresh air.

Swing window design.

The swivel design opens in the traditional way. This method allows access to the outside and adjacent doors. This design is very easy and convenient to care for. The disadvantages include the need for free space, which will allow you to freely open the sash. Such elements are installed in almost any room.

Swing-out design.

The most popular and common type of opening. Those. allows you to open both in the classic version and leave the element in the ventilation position. They are also installed almost everywhere.

Sliding system.

Such a system for opening metal-plastic windows appeared relatively recently. This method of opening allows you to open all windows completely even in the most narrow room. Most often, such a system is used on loggias and balconies. The quality of windows with such an opening system is no different from the usual opening system. All joints are completely sealed and do not let cold air inside.

The very word "eurowindow" appeared in our everyday life at the same time as the word "European-quality repair" in the early 90s. This is an exclusively Russian term. It goes without saying that no one uses this term in Europe. Let's figure out what it means.

What is eurowindow

If we separate reality from conjectures and myths, we call a very high-quality plastic window a eurowindow, which differs from the usual two essential features:

● Eurowindow is complex structure, all components of which are selected to ensure durability, minimal maintenance and excellent consumer qualities (heat and noise insulation, etc.)

● The consumer can choose the complete set of the window according to his taste and needs: the number of sashes, the color and shape of the frame and the design of the handles, reinforced locks, additional sun protection and much more.

Terms of a good window

The main components of a plastic window:

● PVC profile,

● double-glazed window,

● accessories.

Standard "euro" window with one sash and "blind" double-glazed window

Frame and sashes

This is the basis of the eurowindow, its skeleton. The frame plays the same role in the design of the window as the foundation of the house. It must retain its shape during the entire life of the window, not sag under the weight of the sashes, withstand wind loads, not collapse under the influence of atmospheric influences, and have good heat-saving and sound-proofing properties. And, of course, look aesthetically pleasing. All these requirements are met by frames made of PVC profile reinforced with a steel core.

The standards provide for three quality classes for PVC profiles. The main difference between them is the thickness of the outer walls and inner partitions. Class A profiles have the largest ones, due to which only such a profile does not deform during operation and the window always opens and closes easily. VEKA produces a profile of just this quality class.

Strength is necessary not only to maintain the geometry of the window. A good window is required to protect the house and its inhabitants from intruders, that is, to resist burglary.

The profile must also have good heat and sound insulation characteristics.

Initially, the raw material for PVC profiles is white. And in most cases, windows are traditionally made also white. However, this is not at all necessary. Lamination technology allows you to give the surface of the profile almost any color and imitate the texture of wood or metal. Add to this the ability to make a window of any shape, and it becomes clear that plastic windows are suitable for any architectural style and interior design.

Double-leaf "euro" window with an impost ("crossbar" in the middle)

double glazing

This is the second main component of the eurowindow. And here the buyer has big choice options with different consumer properties.

Double-glazed windows can be made with a different number of chambers and from glass of different thicknesses. In addition, additional opportunities are provided by filling the internal volume of the double-glazed window with inert gases. By combining these parameters, it is possible to obtain double-glazed windows with a given level of heat and sound insulation.

Usage tempered glass or triplex glass radically increases the impact resistance of the window. This is important if you want to protect your home from thieves as much as possible or if you are afraid that a child can accidentally break the glass.

Coloring glass in bulk, pasting it with tinted films or spraying metal oxides on the surface makes it possible to regulate the light transmission of the window. This helps to improve the indoor climate in regions with excessive solar radiation.

Fittings and additional equipment

The range of these parts is great. Some of them perform a purely decorative function and help to give the eurowindow a unique look. For example, bars imitate barred glass, and decorative overlays resemble wood carvings.

Additional equipment expands the functionality of the window:

● built-in blinds make it possible to regulate the amount of light transmitted by the window;

different kinds hinges are designed to open doors in different planes;

● locks control access;

● child locks do not interfere with ventilation, but exclude the possibility for the child to fall out of the window;

● The micro-ventilation system provides ventilation but retains heat during the cold season.

Competent installation

Windows do not exist in space on their own. Making a window in the selected configuration is only half the battle. It must be properly installed. Importance correct installation for durable and trouble-free operation cannot be overstated.

The trick is that the same window is installed differently depending on the features of the window opening. What fasteners to choose, how to seal the space between the frame and the wall, what sealants to seal the inevitable gaps, how wide the ebbs should be, how to trim the slopes inside and out - all these nuances matter. Installation errors never lead to anything good:

● corners of window openings freeze through,

● blowing from under the windowsill,

● the frame warps, the window sashes stop opening normally,

● In some cases, a double-glazed window may burst due to unacceptable loads.

Believe me, it is better to choose a simpler window package, but in no case should you save on installation.

How euro windows are made

The main component of the window, its most important detail, is the frame, which is made of PVC profiles.

The raw material - powdered or granulated polyvinyl chloride - is melted and then a profile is made from this mass by extrusion. It is cut into pieces and enters the site, where a steel reinforcing insert is installed in it. It is she who gives the product the necessary rigidity and stability of geometric dimensions.

The finished PVC profile, depending on the size of the future window, is cut into pieces, from which the frame is welded. All four corners of the frame are welded at the same time, which ensures the perfect window geometry. Welding areas are cleaned.

In the meantime, a double-glazed window is being made. Glass of the desired grade and thickness is cut and washed. After that, the spacers (internal glass separators) and the prepared glasses are glued together. The cavity between the glasses is filled with dried air or argon, which has the best heat and sound insulation properties.

The spacer performs another function: silica gel is placed inside it, which absorbs water vapor. A small amount of water is contained even in dried air, so silica gel ensures that the double-glazed window never fogs up from the inside.

On the final stage fittings are mounted on the frame: seals, hinges of the desired configuration, constipation, etc. are installed.

The finished window is marked, packaged and shipped to the consumer.

window care

Perhaps it is difficult to find something else in the house that requires as little attention as a high-quality and properly installed plastic window. All care comes down to a few simple operations:

● wash the glass;

● clean the surface of the frame from dirt;

● lubricate the lock mechanism and hinges every six months with a few drops of any lubricating oil;

● Check if the hardware needs to be adjusted.

If necessary, the window is easily and technologically repaired: replacing worn-out locks, aged seals or other failed parts is a matter of a few minutes.

Conclusion

It doesn't really matter what terms you use. The main thing is that the window is durable, functional and meets your needs.

Replacing windows or installing them in new house The event is not cheap. I would like the new acquisition to serve for many years, all this time honestly perform its functions, and not create problems. And it's all for affordable price. The best option- PVC windows: among them there are also expensive elite models, but even they are on average cheaper than wooden ones. What are plastic windows and how to choose?

Window types

Any window consists of the following parts:

profile frame;

Double-glazed window;

Accessories of varying degrees of complexity;

Auxiliary elements: window sill, ebb, extensions, platbands, mosquito nets, etc.

Windows differ from each other structurally, according to the method of opening, in size and shape, in design and features of components.

By design, windows are deaf and with opening sashes. The latter have the following mechanisms for opening plastic windows:

Swing. Classic variant. Minus - additional space is required for opening; plus - these windows are warmer than sliding ones. Sashes can be conventional rotary, folding (opening along the horizontal axis), tilt-and-turn;

Plastic windows with a transom or with a window leaf. A transom is a horizontally opening wide sash. The window is rotated around a vertical axis. Both designs simplify ventilation if there are small children in the house;

Plastic windows opening outward. This option allows you to save space in the house, but has several disadvantages: the sashes wear out faster, outer surface it is impossible to wash from the apartment (critical for residents of the upper floors), a protective grill cannot be installed on such a window (critical for residents of the first floors);

Sliding mechanism of plastic windows. These models are easy to use, look stylish, do not require additional space to open. Minus - colder swing. Due to their compactness, they are often used for glazing balconies and verandas.

The shapes of plastic windows (see photo) are standard - square or rectangular, and non-standard plastic windows - triangular, arched, porthole windows. The latter are made to order. Sizes are also standard (for standard houses) and non-standard - in demand, as a rule, in individual buildings.

Standard windows according to GOST are of the following sizes:

Single-leaf, height from 47 cm ( minimum size plastic window) up to 1.47 meters (maximum);

Width - 47-87 cm;

Double doors, height 57-147 cm;

Width - 117-147;

Three-leaved, height 117-147;

Width - 177-207.

The size of windows under the order is theoretically not limited by anything. However, there are certain recommendations:

Opening sash - no more than 900 square centimeters;

Deaf - no more than 1000.

Large plastic windows (as in the photo) are a significant weight, which will certainly affect the acceleration of wear of both the opening sashes and the blind double-glazed window: it will deform under its own weight.

Finishing the review of varieties, it is necessary to mention plastic windows with climate control. They differ from others in the presence of built-in ventilation valves. Valves can be operated manually and automatically. Automatic ones themselves react to the temperature and humidity in the room, in accordance with them they open / close.

Attention: the supply valve can be installed later, after installation.

Types of PVC profiles

The profile is made of PVC with integrated reinforcing metal frame. PVC provides the window with heat / noise insulation properties and protects the frame from corrosion, metal gives the structure the necessary rigidity and serves as a deterrent for temperature deformations.

Types of profiles of plastic windows differ in the number of chambers and design features. The latter depend on the model and brand. The number of chambers varies from one to seven. Main technical specifications– working width:

3-chamber plastic windows - from 5.7 to 6.3 centimeters;

5 chamber plastic windows - from 7 to 12.

The profile description indicates the maximum possible thickness of the double-glazed window. This does not depend directly on the number of cameras in the package, but there is a certain correspondence: a single package is usually placed in a three-chamber profile, a double package is placed in a five-chamber profile, etc.

The more chambers in the profile and package, the warmer window block. Two-chamber profiles in accordance with the standards can only be used for windows in non-residential premises.

Video "What are plastic windows":

Any high-quality profile has a sealing contour, the purpose of which is to eliminate drafts, promote sound insulation, prevent dust, insects, etc. from entering the house. The contours differ in color: this allows you to choose a window model that matches the design of the rest of the interior.

Profiles are ordinary, dyed in mass, laminated. Lamination is the technology of hot application of a decorative protective film to the surface. The most common color of PVC windows is white, but it is possible to choose any lamination color for plastic windows from the RAL palette. With film plastic frame you can give the texture of wood, ornamental stone, etc.

Premium profiles differ from cheap ones in the following characteristics:

The number of cameras. Economy class plastic windows have 3, medium - 4-5, premium - from 5;

installation depth. Cheap plastic windows - up to 7 cm, premium - over 7;

Sealing contours - 2 and 3, respectively;

Design. When manufacturing premium-class plastic windows, they use the technologies of lamination, varnishing, aluminum lining, stylization for various artistic directions;

The burglary resistance of economy class windows is ensured mainly due to the features of the fittings, for elite windows - due to design features profile (displacement of the fitting groove, etc.).

Double-glazed windows

This is the name of a block of two or more glasses with sealed chambers between them. The thickness of the glasses is from 4 to 6 millimeters, the distance between them is from 8 to 36. The chambers are filled with air or an inert gas. The block is made of the glass itself and a perforated steel or aluminum frame. The frame is filled with silica gel, the elements are connected with a two-component sealant.

There are from one to three cameras, the last ones are the warmest plastic windows. For energy saving, instead of ordinary glasses, glass made using special technologies can be used: silver sputtering up to 15 nm, mirror sputtering from metal oxides, tinting. Packages are distinguished by their properties:

energy saving;

reflective;

Multifunctional;

Shockproof (for example, made of triplex).

In terms of design, packages can be ordinary, with external and internal layout, with stained glass and etc.

Classes of plastic windows

What are plastic windows by class? They are classified according to several main parameters:

Heat transfer resistance. From A1 (0.8 sq.m * C / W) to D2 (0.35), in total 10 classes. Less than 0.35 items have no class;

Water permeability and breathability, five grades. Highest - A: water permeability limit of at least 600 pascals, air permeability - a maximum of 3 cubic meters per hour per square meter at DP = 100 pascals. The lowest - D: the same characteristics 150 and 50, respectively;

Sound insulation, 5 classes (A-D). Noise reduction - from 36 dBA to 25. Sometimes the letter "P" is present in the marking. DP means that this sound insulation is achieved in the ventilation mode;

Light transmission. Five classes, from A (over 0.5) to D (not less than 0.3);

Wind resistance class. From A (over a thousand pascals) to D (at least 200), there are five classes in total. The allowable load rating varies with wind speed;

Climatic version, two options. Standard - with an average monthly January temperature of at least minus 20 degrees (control load up to minus 45), frost-resistant - below minus 20 (minus 55, respectively).

By burglary resistance, windows are divided into 6 classes:

WK1 - protection against knocking and extrusion;

WK2 - protection against hacking using hand tool and physical strength;

WK3 and WK4 - protection against hacking by hand and power tools;

WK5 and WK6 - the highest classes, resistance to opening with a heavy tool - grinders, etc.

Problems of plastic windows

If you recently changed Soviet wooden windows to PVC, the first unpleasant surprise is condensation on the glass during cold weather. Moisture flows down, destroys wall materials, leads to the appearance of fungus, rust, rot. The air in the room becomes stale and heavy.

In this case, almost nothing depends on the design and quality of the windows themselves. The reason is the increased humidity in the house, combined with the cooling of the glass. While the old "leaky" structures stood, natural ventilation was carried out through the cracks; now the windows have become airtight and water vapor from the house has nowhere to go.

Steam settles on cold glasses and condenses. This problem should be dealt with in two ways: by reducing the level of humidity and ensuring the normal temperature of the glasses. Eliminate temperature differences.

1. In case of poor-quality or incomplete installation (slopes are not insulated, mounting gaps are poorly sealed), “cold bridges” remain - areas through which street air enters the glass. Exit: insulate the slopes, correct installation flaws. The installer handles the slopes, as a rule, for a separate price, and the installation hack is obliged to fix it under warranty.

2. Too wide window sills block warm convection currents, which, under standard conditions, rise from heating radiators to the windows. Solution: replace the window sill or think of another way to warm up the windows.

3. An important condition is high-quality ventilation in all its forms: a supply valve, ventilation and micro-ventilation, a working exhaust hood in the house, the use of modern climate technology with a dehumidification function, etc. The task is to lower the humidity to normal.

4. For the same purpose, additional sources of moisture should not be placed on the windows: indoor flowers, aquariums, water containers.

5. The only factor that depends on the design of the window is the thickness and number of chambers in the double-glazed window. In winter frosts, the contrast between the temperature outside the window and in the living room is very large, a thin single-chamber package does not cope with its function, it remains cold. Therefore, single-chamber packages in middle lane installed only in cool rooms. The way out is to replace the double-glazed window.

In addition to condensation, icing may appear on the windows - ice patterns. Moisture not only condenses, but also freezes. In this case, the reason is unlikely in the jambs of installation and poor ventilation. Most likely, you have chosen the wrong, too cold model.

Drafts in the house can appear for various reasons:

"leaky" mounting seams. If a guarantee period already out, close up you. If not, the company is obliged to correct this flaw under warranty;

Worn seal. This happens after a few years of use. The condition of the circuit can be assessed visually and by touch: a worn seal is hard, has lost its flexibility, and cracks have appeared on it.

air valve for plastic windows

Replace the sealing tape with a similar model from the same manufacturer. To extend the life of the circuit, it is recommended to treat it regularly (once or twice a year) with silicone lubricants;

Adjustment required. For several years of operation, the sashes become loose under their weight - sag, shift to the side, the pressure weakens, etc. Opening and closing the window becomes difficult. Adjustment can be done on your own or call the wizard;

The need for one of the adjustments is provided for in the design of the PVC window: the transition to another seasonal mode. In winter, the clamp is strengthened, in summer it is weakened so as not to create an unnecessary load on the seal. If a draft appears during a cold snap, first of all you need to check in which seasonal mode the window is operating.

How to choose

Window structures are selected according to several criteria:

The size and shape of plastic windows. When building a new house, these parameters are determined at the design stage. Standard models will cost less than custom-made ones. But if the house is made in an individual design, you can’t do without an overpayment. If you change windows in an old house or apartment, then how lucky you are: in old houses, there are also standard and non-standard openings;

The quality of the components. Not only the service life depends on this: low-quality windows can serve poorly and create problems from the very beginning of operation. It is better to trust reputable companies and pay attention to whose components they make their products from;

Design. Windows should be in harmony with the rest of the architectural ensemble and interior;

functionality and price. These are related features. The cost depends on the complexity of the profile, the thickness of the package, the features of the fittings, additional features. You should study the design of the window and decide which functions are mandatory for you and which you can save on.

What should be plastic windows

First of all, the window must be warm. In the living room double-glazed window - at least two cameras. Single-chamber ones are usually installed on semi-warm balconies, in outbuildings, non-residential premises.

For example, in a garage: if it is used only for its intended purpose, it is enough to maintain a positive temperature there. In residential premises, it is also not necessary to overpay for the extra thickness of the package, it is enough to provide a comfortable microclimate.

Attention: the choice of package depends not only on the climate zone, but also on the location of the house/apartment: open space, on the top floor of a skyscraper) it is better to choose windows with higher thermal insulation characteristics than for the same, but closed from the wind. And the strength properties of window structures with this arrangement should also be better.

On the websites of window manufacturers, all the main characteristics are indicated: the level of thermal insulation, sound insulation, light transmission and others. For owners of private houses and residents of the first floors of urban high-rise buildings, an important selection criterion is burglary resistance of at least WK3 class.

Which type of opening is right for you depends on your personal preferences and the overall style of the house. General requirement fire safety: all windows in the apartment / house cannot be blind, at least one must have opening sashes. Decide how the ventilation will be carried out. At least on a blind window, it is desirable to install a supply valve, otherwise the microclimate in the room will be unhealthy.

Rehau, KBE, Veka, Salamander, Trocal, Thyssen - Germany;

Aluplast, Actual - Austria;

Deceuninck - Belgium;

Montblanc, Tantronix, Proplex - RF.

For the manufacture of fittings, ROTO takes the first place in the ranking. Other brands you can trust:

Schuco, Siegenia-Aubi, Hautau, Gretsch-Unitas - Germany;

Maco - Austria;

Kale - Turkey.

Material for the manufacture of handles, hinges, etc. - High alloy stainless steel. Products made from soft materials may look attractive, but they will wear out faster and need to be adjusted more often. When choosing, pay attention to the number of operating cycles declared by the manufacturer. Optimal - 50 thousand.

In addition to the basic functions, accessories may have additional:

Micro-ventilation. The ability to slightly open the sash to a minimum, from 3 millimeters to 5 centimeters;

Tipping limiter - for safe ventilation;

Microlift - to adjust the sagging sash;

Blocking mode switching without closing the window;

Turn limiter;

Slam safety device;

Child lock - to ensure the safety of small children, etc.

It is better to choose a manufacturer and installer of window blocks based on the recommendations of real friends. If this is not possible, at least according to reviews on the Internet. Window design quality indicators - DIN EN ISO 9001 and GOST R / ISO 9001 certificates. The manufacturer must have certificates for both blocks and (separately) for double-glazed windows.

The last moment: when finished windows were brought to you, check the quality.

First of all, this applies to glasses. During transportation, the package could hit something, microcracks appeared in the glass. You need to inspect the glass very carefully: cracks can be almost imperceptible, but in the future they will lead to the destruction of the package.

The profile should be smooth, without waves and scratches. Make sure that the lamination film does not come off anywhere, grains and damage are not visible on the surface. The quality of the fittings should be assessed visually, and also check how well they function.

Now you know what plastic windows are, you have seen the photo and you can decide on the choice that is right for you.

From metal-plastic there are the most bizarre shapes: round and arched certainly will not surprise anyone. Lancet windows are also not a novelty, and design designs are made to order, and embody almost any client's fantasies. But besides this, metal-plastic windows have the most important characteristics, the knowledge of which will help you choose high-quality structures for your balcony.

  • Turning section. The sash in it can open inward, which entails a large flow of air. Outward sash opens in rare cases.

Features of the choice of metal-plastic windows

The most important thing in choosing is to take into account the features of the room where the window will be located.

  • Apartments, houses, offices require windows with two-chamber and three-chamber double-glazed windows - they are warmer, more comfortable, and in general, more perfect. Single-chamber windows are used for storage and various non-residential premises.
  • Reliable thermal insulation is the most important criterion for choosing a metal-plastic window if the building is located on the windy side.
  • Darkened metal-plastic windows are needed if the room is on the sunny side of the building, and other buildings do not block the house. Windows can be with a special film that has a reflective dusting, or with a silver-based coating.
  • If the building is located in the city center, or in an industrial area, they are not protected from dust. Therefore, the window mosquito net required in this case.

  • In the absence of natural ventilation, you need to choose a special profile. It is constructed in such a way that even with the doors closed, a small air circulation is maintained. Otherwise, you will have to keep the ventilation mode all the time.
  • If the apartment is on the lower floors, the owners are not immune from the attacks of the "windowers". So that they cannot cause harm, you need to arm yourself with additional locking fittings, which are usually installed on handles. A glazing bead is also used to close the gap between the impost and the sash.
  • If the double-glazed window is intended for shops or office buildings, then the windows on the outside can be pasted over with a special impact-resistant film. In some cases, armored glass is ordered.

These are just the main selection criteria, which, in principle, are enough not to miscalculate with the acquisition.

The quality of metal-plastic windows - what to look for

The seller can assure that the window is durable and warm, but you can verify this by looking at the construction yourself. Thermal insulation and strength depend directly on the wall thickness, as well as the width cross section profile. Usually, as already mentioned above, the average statistical conditions in our country suggest the choice of a three-chamber or two-chamber profile.

Narrow frames are also popular, but they only make sense in houses where there is external insulation. And, for example, in panel house this window will not be protection from the cold.

As for the color, the most popular is of course white. But even if the seller cannot offer a profile of your preferred color, today many of the most paste over it with a special film or acrylic varnish. But the window will definitely look better if a coloring pigment was added to the PVC during the manufacturing process of the profile.

How to choose a good seller

There are many companies offering window installation. And the flyers look promising.

In order not to miscalculate, it is advisable to pay attention to the following points:

  • Request certificates for components and finished windows.
  • Check what the seller includes in the total cost of metal-plastic windows, whether there is window dismantling in this list. This is especially important when it comes to installing balcony windows.
  • The warranty period should be long enough.
  • Do not be lazy to look at the showroom of the company that manufactures windows.

Nobody canceled word of mouth, so listening to the reviews is never superfluous.

Today, metal-plastic double-glazed windows open up more and more opportunities - for example, it is thanks to them that a balcony can be turned into private room. Whether it's a place with a bed and a lamp, where you can read and just relax. Or a mini-bar with a table for two and a beautiful view of the city. Or maybe the balcony will turn into a workshop of the hostess, where she will store everything that helps to make the house cozy.
