Make a frameless chair with your own hands. DIY frameless furniture

Do-it-yourself frameless furniture is: an original bed-book, a sofa made of foam modules, a pear-tent chair. Make them yourself.

Frameless furniture: types, materials used

Having made such items with your own hands, you can furnish them with a nursery, bedroom, living room. If you have a cottage, then place these things on the veranda to relax here in a cozy atmosphere.

Here are the types of frameless furniture that exist:

  • ottomans of square or cylindrical shape;
  • bean bags;
  • balls that are in the shape of a circle;
  • cushion chairs;
  • pyramids that perfectly support the head and back;
  • sofas consisting of several;
  • models in the form of toys, for example, animals, flowers;
  • gift option - heart.
For tailoring frameless furniture, textiles are used, if it is a sofa, then thick foam rubber acts as a filler here. The same is suitable for creating models in the shape of a heart, cushion chairs.

For the rest, small foam balls are used, which fill the inside of a particular piece of furniture by 2/3. The filler is placed in the inner bag, a decorative outer one is put on top, for which durable fabrics that hold their shape well are used.

For upholstered frameless furniture, it is better not to take pile material that collects dust and wool.

For the outer case, the following types of material are perfect:

  • jacquard;
  • flock;
  • durable cotton;
  • natural or artificial suede;
  • Oxford;
  • leatherette or genuine leather.

For one product, several outer covers can be sewn, which can be easily removed using a snake lock. Then in winter you can put a warmer cover on it, and in summer use a light cotton one.

The positive properties of granular foam used as a filler are that:
  1. it is very light, so such products are easy to move or move;
  2. an armchair, an ottoman quickly take the form of a seated person;
  3. such balls have high thermal insulation, so products made from them can be used even in winter;
  4. unlike frame models, it is impossible to get hurt (there are no sharp corners), so this furniture is perfect for a child's room.
It's time to proceed directly to the master classes to learn how to make some furnishings.

This product consists of several blocks. Here's what you need to create it:

  • thick foam;
  • furniture fabric;
  • PVA glue;
  • reinforced threads;
  • scissors;
  • ruler;
  • sewing machine;
  • furniture stapler;
  • tape measure.
The seat consists of two blocks, each is created according to the same principle. To do this, cut out 3 identical rectangles of foam rubber, sew these parts together. According to their size, you need to cut out and sew covers, stitch them in the corners.

Here you will put a foam rubber filler, on your hands, sew one side with a hidden seam. Also, from foam rubber, you need to cut out two sheets for the back and 2 for the armrests. For these parts, you also need to sew covers.

We begin to assemble a frameless sofa. Fasten two pillows with a furniture stapler. If there is no such tool, then sew them on your hands so that you can fold them.

Attach the back to them, you can additionally fix it with PVA glue. In the same way, attach the two small sidewalls.

If you want to make a folding sofa like a chair-bed, then make the upper seat block smaller than the lower one, sew a fabric loop on the edge. You will pull for it to expand the sofa.

Such a product can be made one-piece by combining the back with the seat. The cover consists of a rectangle that covers the back, seat, back and bottom. Large sidewalls need to be cut in the form of the letter G in a mirror image. Each of them is sewn to a given rectangle of fabric. The filler is also foam rubber.

Here's how pretty easy it is to make a frameless sofa with your own hands. Make other pieces of similar furniture, for example, the following.

DIY pear chair: pattern and description

A stylish and comfortable product quickly takes the form of a person sitting in it. You can wash the outer cover of this chair periodically to keep the chair clean.

To sew it, you will need:

  • fabric for the top and inner cover;
  • paper to make a pattern;
  • filler in the form of foam balls;
  • 2 zippers;
  • related accessories;
  • sewing machine;
  • scotch;
  • plastic bottle.

To make a bean bag chair pattern is required, it is very simple.

As you can see, for the fabric base, you will need a piece of fabric measuring 2 meters 50 cm with a width of 1 meter 40 cm. The diagram shows how to arrange the parts to save fabric. Cut:
  • 6 pear-shaped wedges;
  • 2 pieces in the form of a trapezoid with rounded smaller sides;
  • 2 semicircular bottom elements;
  • hexagonal top;
  • rectangular handle to carry the product.
This cutting is done on the main fabric, the inner cover is created in the same way.

Here is how the bean bag chair is made further. With your own hands you will connect pear-shaped parts, grind them. Then the bottom elements are sewn together, they need to be sewn to the lower sections of the pear-shaped wedges. In the same way, create an inner cover, leave room for zippers on the side, which you then sew in. Put one bag inside another.

The inner cover is 2/3 filled with polystyrene balls. To pour them into a chair, first place a large bottle with the bottom cut off on top of the filler bag. Attach with tape at the bottom. Insert a knife through the neck, make an incision, the balls will begin to spill into the container. Then it needs to be turned over and lowered into a pear chair.
You can cut out double front and hind legs, bear ears, sew them onto a finished monophonic product. Cut out the round muzzle of the animal from the same fabric, draw eyes, nose, mouth with indelible paints or sew on facial features, having previously cut them out of dark fabric. You will get such a charming bean bag chair in the form of a bear. It will be comfortable for a child of any age. For babies, this product is placed horizontally, the baby will sleep in such a cozy chair.

Frameless book bed

If you like frameless furniture, check out the following piece of furniture. This textile product was invented by Japanese designer Yusuke Suzuki, but our domestic needlewomen will recreate it if desired.

For this they will need:

  • dark dense fabric;
  • light cotton canvas;
  • synthetic sheet filler;
  • foam rubber;
  • sewing machine.
Manufacturing master class:
  1. The dark cloth will become the binding. Cut out two rectangles from it, one will be the bottom, the second - the top of the cover.
  2. This size, but without seam allowances, you will need foam rubber. First, connect the top and bottom of the binding, folding them with their right sides, sew along the edges. Leave one side unsewn. This is where you put the foam.
  3. If you don’t have a sewing machine or it’s difficult to create such large details on it, then sit on a clean floor, grind the edges by hand, taking a needle with strong threads. In the same way, you will make “sheets” for a book-bed, but from white cotton fabric and fill them with padding polyester, holofiber, or similar sheet-shaped synthetic material.
  4. Put the created elements on the binding, as you can see, from all sides they are about 10 cm smaller than it. Sew in the center on the hands.

This book bed is an excellent bed for two children. Each of them will lie on one "sheet", it will be a sheet, covered with a second "sheet".

If you want to create a small bed, then sew a soft mattress, and make it out of corrugated cardboard. Decide on the width, such a width you need to cut a rectangle from this material, wielding a construction or clerical knife. It should be much longer than the desired length of the bed, as you will fold this blank into an accordion.

When it's time to put the baby to bed, put this item on the floor, she will take desired shape. On top, place a rectangle of cardboard that will become the base of the bed. It remains to put bedding here and you can relax.

But not only kids, adults will also comfortably fit on this product. But for people with a lot of weight, it is better to use not one rectangle, but many small ones, connecting these sections with adhesive tape. When disassembled, they will turn into a convenient shelf for books, newspapers and magazines.
If you like these creative beds, make another piece of upholstered furniture that resembles a brush.

Make a base for it. Such a blank is made of fabric in the form of a bag. The corners are wrapped on the wrong side and sewn up. Leave one edge free for now, insert a rectangle of thick foam rubber through this hole.

Now you have to create a lot of "villi". To do this, cut the bars of the correct shape from foam rubber. Each of them is sheathed with fabric according to the principle that has just been described.

Here is another soft bed. It is built from separate modules. On the side, large buttons on legs are sewn on, previously covered with the same fabric. To connect two modules, it is enough to put a rope tied into a ring on them.

Frameless transforming chair

It is unique and perfect for a couple. Here are two seats, interconnected by a dense fabric folded in half. It is fixed with buttons.

Such a product will quickly turn into a small double tent. It is enough to lift the fabric, fix it in this position again with the help of buttons.

Kids are sure to love the following frameless furniture as they love to build houses out of whatever they have on hand. Take the idea of the English designer Philippe Malouin into service, you can make such a product with your own hands.

For it you will need:
  • dense fabric;
  • corrugated cardboard;
  • Velcro;
  • stationery knife;
  • long line;
  • pen or pencil;
  • scissors;
  • thick foam.
The basis of this chair of a transformer consists of two pillows. How to make similar ones from thick foam rubber was described at the beginning of the article.
  1. Two soft blocks are sewn together on one side so that they can be folded over and put one on top of the other.
  2. On the upper block you need to sew a handle from the same fabric. When you want to turn the chair into a bed, just pull it towards you.
  3. The back and sides are made from several rectangles of corrugated cardboard. A piece of fabric 1 meter 50 wide, fold in half lengthwise. Sew along the large edge at the bottom, and also sew one small side on the side.
  4. Insert the first rectangle of cardboard there. Stitch this fabric or sew here by hand to separate this first section.
  5. Now nest a second rectangle, make a vertical stitch on a typewriter or on your hands in the same way. If you want a transformer chair to turn into a tent, then you need to make not one, but 2 rows of cardboard rectangles.
  6. When it's time to build a roof for little house, you will need to raise the second side row, connect at the top with Velcro. It is pre-sewn onto fabric blanks.
This is the frameless furniture you will have if you want to create it. To make this process even more clear, watch the video description from a specially selected story. It tells how a pear chair is sewn, but not ordinary, but in the form of a penguin.

How to make a children's frameless sofa chair from foam rubber, you will learn from the second review.

In 1968, Italian designers Francisco Teodoro, Cesare Paolini and Piero Gatti breathed new life into a mattress - a bag stuffed with hay or leaves. Sacco (bag in Italian) was the same mattress stuffed with Styrofoam balls. Since then, frameless furniture has gained popularity in many countries.

A frameless bean bag chair is a fabric cover, 2/3 of the volume of which is filled with foam balls. When a person sits in it, grains under pressure flow into the free parts of the form. Thus, the frameless chair takes every time new form perfectly matching the curves of the body. In addition to the classic version - "pears" - there are many other models, each of which dictates certain poses.

The manufacturing technology of frameless furniture is quite simple and affordable at home. Before starting work, you should decide on the following points:

  1. How many covers will a frameless chair consist of. Ideally, the inner cover, which is the receptacle of the filler, is duplicated by an external removable cover. It is sewn from a beautiful decorative fabric, it can be removed and sent to the wash without filling the filler.
  2. What fabric will the frameless chair be made from? The inner cover will take on most of the load. For it, it is recommended to use a dense natural blended fabric or Oxford 400 polyester material. It is durable (will not diverge at the seams), light (will not weigh down the chair) and impregnated with water-repellent substances. For the outer cover, dense, non-stretch fabrics are suitable. Keep in mind that pile materials will pick up dust particles and pet hair and will need to be cleaned more frequently. It is better to give preference to special furniture fabrics with dirt and water-repellent impregnations. Such materials can be brushed or machine washed.
  3. Children will be comfortable in a chair of any size. But if you make it small, then no one except the child can use it. For a large man, on the contrary, it is necessary to increase the patterns.

In this article we will tell you how to make a do-it-yourself bean bag chair with a low seat and a medium-height back - up to the middle of the shoulder blades. It will consist of one case made of dense Oxford 600 fabric. It has a dense, durable weave, which allows it to be used for sports ammunition. Back side rubberized, which will protect the filler from water penetration and allow you to clean the chair without resorting to washing.

Necessary materials

  • Oxford fabric 600 - 2.5 m.p.
  • Strong reinforced threads No. 70ll
  • Tractor or spiral zipper No. 5 length 30 cm
  • Sewing machine and needles for heavy fabrics No. 100
  • Tailor's scissors
  • Wax chalk
  • Expanded polystyrene in granules 3 kg (or 250 - 300 liters)
  • Plastic bottle
  • Scotch.

DIY bean bag chair. Stages of work

Cut the material according to the following pattern, adding to the indicated dimensions 1.5 centimeters on each side for seam allowances. It is better to cut out the side parts according to a pattern previously built on paper, then the parts will be symmetrical.

Chip the part of the back and bottom facing inward and grind to the place where the zipper will be located, i.e. leave 30 cm of seam unsewn. Sweep with a temporary hand seam, straighten the allowances, baste and sew on the zipper. Open temporary seams.

Pin facing inwards and stitch front and back pieces. Chip and sweep them with the details of the bottom and back.

All seams can be processed with an overlock or a seam - an imitation of an overlock, which is available on modern machines. Alternatively, to reinforce the seams, you can fold the seam allowance in half and stitch over them.

Baste and stitch the front piece. This seam should not be strengthened further. Turn out the product. Lay a line along the perimeter of the front part, securing a fold 0.7 cm high to it. The resulting edging will strengthen the seam and give visual rigidity to the product.

Fill the case with styrofoam balls. For this you need to take plastic bottle 1.5 l, cut off the neck and bottom so that you get a pipe. If the bottle has a "waist" - even better. Open the filler bag, insert a bottle into it and tape the bag with tape. Make sure that the neck of the bag is completely fixed with tape and the balls will only spill out through the bottle. Unzip the chair and put the cap on the bottle. Close the zipper, fixing it on the “waist” of the bottle. Holding this place with your hand, turn the filler bag upside down. Stuff the chair to about 2/3 of its volume. If there is too much filler, the chair will not "hug" and will be uncomfortable. If too little, then his landing will be too low.

All materials for the chair can be purchased at regular sewing stores. The only difficulty may arise with the purchase of filler. It is sold by firms engaged in the production of frameless furniture or manufacturers thermal insulation materials. An important point is the quality of the filler. Ideally, the expanded polystyrene granules should be the same size - 4 - 5 mm. If the balls are too small, then the chair will be heavy. If it is too large or of different sizes, then the filler fluidity will be lost, and you will have to distribute it inside the chair with your hands. Also, sometimes the so-called “crushed” is used to stuff frameless bean bags. This is a recyclable material that is made from defective foam boards. Such a filler does not flow at all, but only sags under the weight of the person sitting and makes an unpleasant creaky sound. If the filler has a strong chemical smell, it should be ventilated for several days outdoors, for example, leave a bag of balloons open on the balcony, or even pour them into a cloth bag.

  • If you have settled on a chair with a double cover, then the zipper on the outer should be long enough so that you can get the inner cover with filler through it.
  • It is better to buy a filler with a small margin, because during active operation it will shrink up to 25%.
  • The finished chair should not be placed near heat sources and should not be bathed in the pool.
  • If you have children, then in the place where the dog of the closed zipper will be located, it is better to sew in an additional valve.
  • The faux leather outer case can be fitted with several small grommets to allow air to escape between the outer and inner case.
  • So that the chair is magnificent and does not lose its appearance even when no one is sitting on it, the outer cover can be duplicated with a layer of synthetic winterizer.

Since its introduction on the market, frameless cushioned furniture won a strong place in the interior of residential premises. The brightest representative of this type of environment is a bean bag chair. It can also be found in libraries, cinemas and even parks. Not a single sofa will make you feel as comfortable as on this design. An additional plus of this type of furniture is that it will not be difficult to sew a bean bag chair with your own hands.

Bean bag, beanbag, pouffe chair - there are many names for a soft frameless chair. Not less and its varieties. It can take a variety of forms:

  • square or rectangular;
  • pear shape;
  • round;
  • in the form of a flower, some kind of fruit, heart, puck, etc.

The choice of form depends only on the preferences of the future owner of the chair. As a filler can be used:

  • polystyrene balls;
  • beans, peas;
  • shavings, sawdust, feathers.

It is easy to buy any of the fillers. The most preferred is expanded polystyrene. It does not cause allergies, cannot mold, attract rodents or insects. For country house better to just use it. In addition, a soft ottoman filled with it will turn out to be especially comfortable - it will take a form that is convenient for a person sitting or lying on it, and its granules, unlike beans and peas, are not at all hard. It is better to choose small balls, as large ones will quickly crumble.

The amount of padding depends on the size of the bean bag. A chair for an adult may need from 250 to 350 liters. It is better to purchase 400 liters of polystyrene foam. The rest will come in handy for the future, since the material is crushed during operation and can be refilled about once a year.

The appearance of a do-it-yourself pear chair determines the material from which it is made. The fabric can be very different. First of all, it must be durable and practical. Better if it can be machine washed. Due to the variety of materials, a handmade pouffe can fit into any interior. For a concise, strict style, classic or modern design fit bags made of leatherette, faux fur, velvet, velor. For a nursery, you can choose a fabric with pictures, bright colors.

Before proceeding to study the question of how to make a bean bag chair with your own hands, it is worth deciding on the purpose, shape and size of the structure. The amount of fabric, filler, and other materials that will need to be purchased depends on this.

What will be needed for work?

In order to make an easy chair with your own hands, you need the following materials:

  • lining fabric;
  • fabric for an external decorative cover;
  • filler;
  • strong colored threads for sewing;
  • two zippers for fastening covers;
  • graph paper for drawings.

The lining fabric of a do-it-yourself ottoman bag must be durable, even rough. You can take an old duvet cover or pillowcase that you no longer plan to use (provided that the fabric is intact, without scuffs and holes). Threads and a snake for the main cover must be selected in a color that matches the color of the fabric.

From the tools you need to prepare:

  • sewing machine;
  • Ruler, pencil;
  • Scissors.

If there is no sewing machine, and there is no desire to purchase it in order to make the ottoman yourself, then you need to prepare a thick needle for sewing, strong threads, a thimble. In this case, the process will be much longer and more laborious.

The main stages of manufacturing a chair

A do-it-yourself master class on an easy chair can clearly demonstrate how to make an ottoman. You can consider the most popular version of the pear-shaped bean bag chair. This design is convenient in that it has a kind of back that gently supports the neck and head.

First of all, you need a pear chair pattern. It consists of a round or hexagonal base and four or six petals. The combination of elements may be different, but these options are the simplest and most common.

Click to enlarge

With the preparation of a pattern for a bean bag chair, work begins. A drawing of all the details of the covers should be done on a scale of 1x1 on millimeter paper. Thus, it will be clearly seen how much fabric is needed for a do-it-yourself ottoman.

To increase or decrease the size of the future bean bag, if those indicated in the pattern do not suit you, on paper, all measurements of the details must be changed to the same centimeter value.

Having drawn a diagram on paper, the parts are cut out and, having secured with pins on the fabric, they cut it along the contour, leaving an allowance (about 1.5 cm of fabric after the border of the part). When stitching the elements, the allowance ensures that the chair does not spread along the seam.

Then you need to sew covers on a typewriter or manually, sew in zippers. The zipper in the inner case allows you to conveniently stuff it with Styrofoam and add it later. The zipper of the outer cover is needed to remove it for cleaning or washing. The joints of the parts should be sewn on the typewriter from the inside out, and at the outer cover, lay a line with a large seam along the front side. The seams then need to be smoothed out with an iron. You can attach a handle to the chair for easy portability.

After the covers are ready, you can fill up the filler. If it is polystyrene foam, then this should be done carefully, since it is very electrified and does not fall asleep neatly, but scatters throughout the room. You can insert the bag of material inside the cover, cut it open and carefully pull it out, holding the edges of the zipper. You can also build a funnel out of a plastic bottle or paper and pour the granules through it.

The cover should be filled in such a way that it keeps the shape of the pattern, but does not clog it to capacity, there should still be empty space for the most comfortable effect.

At the end, the outer case is put on the inner case, the zipper is fastened. A chair made by hand at home can be considered ready for use.

Finished product care

A handmade soft bean bag chair will last a long time if you take care of it. The options for this care depend on the material from which we sew the main cover. Not all fabrics are machine washable. This should be known in advance. For a nursery, it is better to choose practical fabrics that you can not be afraid to get dirty.

The design stuffed with foam balls is less whimsical than in the case of other fillers. An armchair stuffed with everything except polystyrene foam requires periodic replacement of the filler due to the following reasons:

  • Dampness can lead to the formation of mold;
  • Some natural materials, caking, not only decrease in volume, but form a dense layer that must be removed;
  • The appearance of insects inside the upholstery will entail the replacement of the entire filler and special treatment of the covers (it is better to change the inner one).
  • Styrofoam also shrinks over time, but in this case, simply adding a new one is enough, and the ottoman will regain its former properties.

Having tried a ready-made easy chair for the first time, you can immediately understand whether it is done correctly or not. If the body does not fall to the floor, but lies on the stuffing and is gently enveloped from all sides, then the proportions are calculated correctly. Errors can be corrected by suturing the cover or by adjusting the amount of filling material. A well-made pouffe is so comfortable that every member of the family will surely want to have their own.

Habitual furniture is not always comfortable when you want more comfort and coziness. An alternative to traditional furnishings can be a bean bag chair (or bean bag). It is characterized by soft and loose . The bean bag chair does not have a frame like other home furniture.

This is a thing that transforms under load, which can be found in many modern homes.

Frameless chairs, as a new trend, have recently entered our daily lives and immediately won one of the first places among the most comfortable pieces of furniture. Due to the absence of rigid guide supports and back, the bag easily takes the shape of the body. The spine when sitting does not experience almost any load. It is good to relax in such an armchair after a busy day, sitting comfortably with a book or tablet.

During the rest in such a chair, the back muscles relax well.

From the point of view of everyday aesthetics, the bean bag chair reduces the number of rigid linear structures in the space due to its shape. home interior– the atmosphere in the room becomes softer and more harmonious.

Loose filling allows the chair to take the shape of your body, in whatever position you are.

The third point is the ergonomics and light weight of the models. At any time, they can be moved to any corner or taken to another room, or even removed altogether (relevant when washing the floor).

The chair provides thermal insulation, keeping your body warm, which is equally important if you have back problems.

In the decor of the model, you can use different materials, especially if you sew the bag yourself. An additional plus of the bean bag chair is at a relatively low price.

Compared to traditional pieces of furniture, these models are several times cheaper.

The bag is easy to clean or wash completely, you can change the contents to fresh or just ventilate. Frameless designs are very fond of children.

From a safety standpoint, this is the most suitable furniture option for a child's short rest.

The benefits of creating models with your own hands

Purchased products are sometimes too expensive, but in terms of manufacture they are quite simple design. So someone is looking for ideas how to sew a bag chair on one's own.

Materials for work can always be found at home or bought at a reasonable price without overpaying.

For sewing a bag, any, which is easy to process on a typewriter. For inner case you will need a material of greater density that does not allow small particles of filler to pass through the weave.

For the outer cover, a fabric that is softer in texture, including with a small pile, is suitable.

Do-it-yourself bag chair can be made more original and stronger than ordered in the store. Choose any shape you like.

Cleaning the room is not difficult, because the low weight of the chair allows even a child to move it.

Sew the bag is easy enough, and this is also the advantage of creating products with your own hands. Just pick up the base, connect, handle the seams . Any housewife who has the skills to handle a sewing machine will cope with this.

By choosing the right color of the cover and the type of material, you can support the design of any interior.

Necessary materials and tools

To sew a bean bag chair for your home , you will need inexpensive blanks and tools.

materials , which are necessary:

  • dense - "raincoat fabric", satin, polyester, etc .;
  • loose (preferably polystyrene foam, about one and a half kilograms);
  • Strong threads;
  • Paper for making patterns (graph paper or whatman paper);
  • Short lightning.

Materials for the manufacture of a bag chair.

For outer case choose a softer fabric (flock, velor, etc.), although some prefer a more practical material, like a tapestry. Textile for a frameless chair, you can buy or use from home supplies.

Acquire the filler in specialized departments of furniture or construction retail chains.

To make straight seams , you will need a tailor's machine - manual or foot. You will need chalk, pins and scissors to trace, secure and cut the pattern.

Design and construction: which one to choose?

Can do model in various forms. The most popular are the sphere, “drop” and “pear”. Another option is rectangular. It is "consonant" with the shape of a traditional frame chair. Its only drawback is that when sitting on it, such a design will not look too symmetrical and neat.

To sew a bag chair with your own hands, look at samples from publications on specialized sites.

It must be remembered thatunder load, it will sag and wrinkle, so choose a more streamlined shape - so the folds are less noticeable. To sew your model, you can useany color that you like best and suitable for the interior. Inner case dimensions calculated depending on the age category for which the chair is intended.

The parameters of the outer case will be slightly larger.

materials for the design, select based on the intended shape so that the bag looks beautiful when unfolded. Allthink about the decor in advance.

Manufacturing process: step by step instructions

Sew beautiful armchair bag can be done fairly quickly. If you have already selectedand prepared the tools, then you can proceed directly to the implementation of your idea.

The option below is for a pear-shaped bag.

Pattern.

First you need make a cutout.

  1. Prepare patterns by which you will measure the necessary parts, taking into account the overlaps for the seams. Usuallyare made in the ratio: 6 (wedges) : 2 (bottom) : 1 (top).
  2. Take designed for inner case and straighten it out. It is better to do this on the floor, since the volumes are large.
  3. Attach the patterns and secure them with tailor's pins.
  4. Cut carefullyalong the marked lines.

It is recommended to remove excess threads from cuts of cotton fabric before use.

sweep away and stitch in turn. This must be done carefully and slowly.

To sew all the pieces, use the medium stitch mode on your sewing machine.

Too large will give "gaps" through which it will wake up. seams must be made double so that the structure is stronger. At the bottom, leave one open segment - pour through this “neck”. After that, carefully sew the zipper.

To make it convenient to pour the filler, you can use the method shown in the picture.

Internal seams must be swept in order todidn't fray and didn't fall apart.Repeat the same steps for cutting and sewing the outer cover. Insert a small zipper into it. This is necessary in order to remove it for washing.

Attach a zipper to the bottom of the canvases with pins and sew it on a typewriter.

Fully flatten the cover to the shape of the bag and close the zipper.

If you want to sew chair-"drop", then the details will need less. There are 2 sides, 1 bottom and 1 top.For the “sphere” or “ball” shape, you will need 12 pentagonal parts and 20 hexagonal ones.As you can see, the “drop” is a less labor-intensive type of bean bag and the most convenient in tailoring. However, all forms will require skills in calculating patterns and the ability to sew and process joints.

And most importantly, do not let pets near the filler. Otherwise, it will be very difficult to clean them from the foam balls later.

The final stage - decoration

For inner case finishing is not required - this is the basis. And the outside can be decorated with decorative elements. Its role can be performed by a simple fabric with a pattern - the same tapestry.

By saving a lot of money and acquiring useful skills, you will get a comfortable and stylish interior element for your home.

If a monophonic, it is possible do application in the form of asymmetrically arranged geometric shapes or images. Such additions look quite interesting and unusual. To do this, take a material of excellent color and make patterns using the cut patterns.

AT modern interiors usually use frameless chairs that correspond to the main color scheme premises.

If you don't want to be seen seams , then you can hide them with a special cape. It may not completely cover the chair. For this, any soft material with a pile is suitable, even long like the skin of a wild animal, artificial astrakhan fur and other options. They make the seat even more comfortable, and give the interior a cosiness and informality. It is only necessary to process the edge of the cape before covering the structure.

This decor is suitable for the bedroom, and for the nursery, and for the living room.

If there are several frameless chairs, then they can be decorated either in the same style or in different ones. In the living room, place them in the appropriate areas - next to the coffee table, sofa, in front of the TV.

Having made repairs, simply order or sew a new cover, and the chair will not violate the design harmony of the room.

Do-it-yourself frameless furniture made from improvised materials will help to accommodate your guests with convenience and comfort, if necessary. The fact is that it is cheap, easy to manufacture, and also fits perfectly into almost any design. In addition, it is highly mobile and can be quickly and easily moved to another room or to another area.

Construction of frameless furniture
In order to know how to sew frameless furniture with your own hands, you need to have an idea about its design. Yes, main distinctive feature of this furniture is the lack of a rigid frame. As a result, it can take any shape, which makes it possible to place it in any room. Such premises can be cafes, clubs, living rooms in residential buildings, bedrooms, children's rooms.

From a technical point of view, this type of furniture consists of 2 fabric bags. The first of them is sewn from durable fabric and covered with a special filler. Since it is placed later inside the second bag, it is called the inner, and the second outer. The latter not only ensures the reliability and durability of furniture, but also forms its design.
As for the materials used for tailoring the described products, they can serve as:

artificial and natural leather;
various fabrics;
plastic.

In order for the inner bag to be easily removed, a zipper is sewn into its side seam or bottom. In addition, buttons can also be used for this, although a zipper is preferable, since it is hardly noticeable. It should be borne in mind that the buttons can become a design element of your frameless furniture.

If you want to understand how to make frameless furniture with your own hands, in addition to studying its structure, you will also have to understand what kind of material it is filled with. It is a high-quality filler that will allow it to successfully compete with conventional spring furniture. In most cases, Styrofoam is used to fill the inner bag.

This filler consists of white granules. They are round in shape and about 3-6 mm in diameter. These granules are good in that they quickly restore their original shape at the end of the mechanical impact on them. This makes frameless furniture soft and comfortable.
You can buy both the material for sheathing and the filler in "fabric" stores or ordinary supermarkets. In addition, if you are interested in DIY frameless upholstered furniture, you should also explore the various options for combining bags. You can find them on handmade thematic sites, where information is posted on the issue of making frameless furniture with your own hands, you can also find patterns and photos of such furniture there.
Pros and cons of frameless furniture
Like any other type of furniture, frameless furniture has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantages include:

Convenience and elevated level comfort. The fact is that the filler creates the effect of weightlessness, which makes it possible to relieve tension from the spine and completely relax it.
Absolute security. This type of furniture does not have sharp corners, which means that children cannot get hurt about them. In addition, the bags weigh no more than 10 kg, so if such an item falls on you, nothing bad will happen.
High degree of mobility.
Ease of maintenance and high degree environmental friendliness. The fact is that the materials for the cover or for the filler of frameless furniture are completely natural. They can be: satin, eco-leather, tarpaulin, genuine leather. Furniture covers are removable and easy to clean, and the filler must be replaced every six months. This allows you to easily and simply get rid of dirt, dust and harmful microorganisms that accumulate in it.
High degree of maintainability. So, for example, to repair a frameless chair, it is enough to replace the filler in it or sew up a torn cover.
The opportunity to become a memorable feature of the interior, as this type of furniture can have a variety of colors and shapes.

Cons of frameless furniture There are few of them. Its main disadvantage is the removal of the filler. The fact is that over time, polystyrene foam balls lose their shape over time and frameless objects begin to “sag”. As a result, you have to replace the filler, which costs money.

Note! In addition, this type of furniture can not be used in all interiors. In the event that you have a classic or business environment in the room, ordinary cabinet furniture is suitable for you, rather than soft multi-colored balls. In addition, they cannot be used where there is high humidity, as it can damage the polystyrene foam and fabrics.
Anyway this option decorating the situation should be borne in mind, since do-it-yourself frameless furniture is made quickly, simply and is relatively inexpensive. Classic designs require carpentry skills, special tools, as well as very complex drawings and sketches.

Having mastered the sewing of bags, you can not only furnish your house with them, but also organize a small production at home. Usually such furniture is in steady demand because of its originality and simplicity. In addition, it can be easily moved to another room or raised if not needed to the attic.

Selection of material and filler
If you understand how to make frameless furniture with your own hands, you should proceed to the stage of selecting and purchasing material for covers, as well as filler. At the same time, it is worth immediately abandoning the use of materials such as calico, silk and satin, since during operation they will very quickly lose their appearance. In addition, you should not use artificial materials, such as plastic, because of its high fire hazard and tendency to release harmful substances when heated.

Most suitable material For this work, it is considered:
Velor, that is, a fleecy fabric that is vaguely similar to artificial fur, soft to the touch, velvety.
Flock is a distant analogue of velor. Great for kids room decor. This is due to the fact that this fabric does not fade, it is perfectly cleaned and easy to clean.
Chenille is a natural fabric with the addition of synthetics. These fibers increase the strength of the fabric, make it easier to care for, and also prevent it from rolling.
Jacquard. It is very similar to chenille, as it contains synthetic fibers. Outwardly, it looks like another type of fabric - boucle, while its loops do not unravel when an accidental puff is formed. The fabric is very durable, easy to wash, well sewn.
Faux suede. This type of wear-resistant fabric with pile perfectly "breathes", does not fade, this fabric is easy to care for.
Artificial leather. Has an embossing, is not afraid of moisture, beautiful and durable fabric.
Tapestry, which is a natural fabric with a visible weave made of multi-colored threads, which allows you to create various patterns. This fabric is antistatic and heavy duty.

To make, for example, a frameless chair, you will need to purchase fabric for sewing the outer and inner bag. In addition, approximately 200-300 liters of artificial filler, zippers, reinforced sewing threads, scissors and a sewing machine will be required. Also, if you need frameless furniture with your own hands, prepare patterns for it. For this purpose, you can take the schemes posted on the Internet on specialized Internet resources.
As for the paper for its implementation, then you will need cardboard, wallpaper or other thick paper for this. Patterns made with it can be used repeatedly, so do not throw them away at the end of work.
Making a bean bag
Making frameless furniture with your own hands should start with simple products, for example, sewing a bag-chair. This piece of furniture will easily fit into any interior of the room. At the same time, even novice handmade fans are quite capable of sewing such a chair.

To begin with, you will need to take ready-made patterns and transfer them to the fabric with chalk, while in the mandatory case it will be necessary to leave seam allowances of about 1-1.5 cm. Thus, you will need to prepare a blank for 2 bags: external and internal. In any case, it is necessary to calculate in advance the dimensions of such furniture so that there is enough material for it, and also so that it is “written” into the dimensions of the room.
After the patterns are ready, proceed to the process of stitching the parts together. To do this, sew the side edges of the wedges, and then sew the top and bottom. At the same time, you will need to sew a zipper.

This way you complete a small bag. A large outer bag is also made in a similar way, with a large zipper sewn into the last facet. If any are used decorative elements such as pockets or loops, they must also be sewn on at this stage.

After the bags are ready, it will be necessary to insert the outer bag into the inner one and start filling it with granules. To do this, you can use either a funnel or a regular plastic bottle. To do this, the bottom and neck are cut off from her so that one pipe remains.

This pipe will need to be inserted into a bag of polystyrene foam granules and secured well with tape. After that, the zippers on the bags are unzipped. The bags are put on an impromptu pipe and fixed with locks.
Next, the container with the granules is carefully turned over and waiting for them to begin to pour into the inner bag. It needs to be filled approximately 50-70% of the internal volume. If you want to adjust the rigidity of such furniture, then pour more filler - it will become stiffer.

Note! If you are going to make your chair out of dense fabric, you will also need to sew special valves into it so that excess air can be released. In this case, it will quickly adapt to the shape of your body in a timely manner. In addition, additional ventilation will not allow excess moisture to accumulate in it.
Business on frameless furniture
Do-it-yourself frameless furniture production can be established in industrial scale and open a small business on this basis. At the same time, the minimum initial investment for its opening will be only 10,000 rubles in the provinces and $ 20,000 in major city. As for profitability, such a business can bring a profitability of about 30-40% in Russia and somewhere around 200% in the regions.

Frameless furniture is purchased mainly by young people with an income above the average, as well as young families and families with children. For them, the use of such bags is good because they are soft and do not have sharp corners that the child can get hurt about. Thanks to this, frameless furniture can be delivered in educational institutions: schools, children's centers and kindergartens.
The price of the simplest frameless chair is 2,500 rubles and it is made within 3 days. To begin with, you can sew them right at home, and later you can rent additional space. If the business expands, it will be possible to attract hired seamstresses.
You can sell finished furniture both via the Internet and through various sales exhibitions. Selling goods through the World Wide Web can bring you about 40% of your sales. If you want to increase your revenue, rely on dealer sales and corporate orders.
