10 Christ commandments. Teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ

Every Christian must keep the commandments.

But what commandments are we talking about? What are God's commandments in Orthodoxy? How many commandments are in the Bible? Let's figure it out together.

“What can I do to live forever? Keep the commandments. Dialogue between the Savior and the young man.

(according to Heb. Matt. 19:17)

There are actually 21 commandments in the Bible.

There are 21 commandments in the Bible:

  • 10 biblical commandments God gave to Moses on Mount Sinai (Old Testament, Exodus 20:1-17);
  • The 9 Beatitudes were given by Jesus Christ in the Sermon on the Mount ( New Testament, Matthew 5:3-11);
  • 2 commandments, in which the Savior summarized the entire law of God (New Testament, Matthew 22:37-40).

Commandments are the laws of God

The commandment is the law of life that God gave to man. Therefore, the commandments are the laws of God. The commandments of God are in both the Old Testament and the New.

"Covenant" means "promise."

A person fulfills the Law of God in order to receive the benefits that God promised. Old Testament promised that the Messiah would come into the world, and the New - that the believer would have the Kingdom of God.

« Bible» Greek for book. The writings of the Old and New Testaments were so popular with the merchants of the Mediterranean region in the first centuries of Christianity that they were simply referred to as "books".

The Old Testament consists of 39 books:

  • 5 books of the prophet Moses;
  • 7 books about the history of Israel;
  • 5 books of instructive character;
  • 22 prophetic books.

The New Testament consists of 27 books:

  • 4 gospel books;
  • 1 book of the Acts of the Holy Apostles;

10 commandments of Moses - the basis of the Old Testament

10 commandments of Moses in Russian:

  1. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, so that you have no other gods before me.
  2. Do not make for yourself an idol or any image of what is in heaven above, what is on the earth below, and what is in the water below the earth. Don't worship them and don't serve them; for I am the Lord your God, a jealous God, punishing the children for the guilt of the fathers to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, and showing mercy to thousands of generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.
  3. Do not take the name of the Lord your God in vain; for the Lord will not leave without punishment the one who pronounces his name in vain.
  4. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Work six days, and do all your work; and the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God: on it you shall do no work, neither you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your servant, nor your maidservant, nor your livestock, nor the stranger that is in your dwellings. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
  5. Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
  6. Dont kill.
  7. Don't commit adultery.
  8. Don't steal.
  9. Do not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  10. Do not covet your neighbor's house; Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is thy neighbor's.

Exodus 20:1-17

The Ten Commandments of Moses are the basic rules for the life of the ancient Jews. The first commandment of the Bible and the fourth commandment were especially revered.

There were 613 mandatory rules in total. They controlled the entire life of the Old Testament Israelite. Many rules were household - for example, you can’t sit down for food if you haven’t washed your hands.

An important place in the life of the Jews of the Old Testament was occupied by the study and interpretation of the Pentateuch of Moses. The laws of God were learned by heart.

Moses- one of the greatest prophets who lived 120 years. Of these, for 40 years he lived at the court of the Egyptian pharaoh and studied the sciences. Then for 40 years he lived away from people and herded sheep. For the last 40 years of his life he was a shepherd Israeli people brought him out of Egyptian slavery. God instructed him to lead the Israelites into the promised land.

7 deadly sins - the most serious deviations from the commandments

Deadly sins:

  1. pride,
  2. envy,
  3. anger,
  4. despondency,
  5. greed,
  6. gluttony,
  7. lust, fornication.

The seven deadly sins are also called the major sins. These include sins of a more private nature.

The 7 deadly sins are the most serious deviations of man from God. When a person does them, he becomes ill mentally and physically.

Deadly sins are called "mortal sins" for a reason. A person dies due to alcoholism, drug addiction, excessive fornication. If a person kills, then he can be executed or killed out of revenge.

11 commandments of jesus christ- rules of the New Testament

The commandments of the New Testament are 9 beatitudes and 2 more that summarize all the previous ones. These 11 rules were given to people by Jesus Christ when he lived on earth.

Often they write about the 12 or 10 commandments of Christ, but in fact there are 11 of them.

Bliss Commandments:

  1. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
  2. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
  3. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
  4. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
  5. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
  6. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
  7. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
  8. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
  9. Blessed are you when they reproach you and persecute you and slander you in every way unrighteously for me. Rejoice and be glad, for great is your reward in heaven: so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

(Gospel of Matthew 5:3-11)

The sermon is called the Sermon on the Mount because Jesus Christ gave these commandments on the mountain.

St. John Chrysostom says that the mountain was chosen for preaching not by chance. Away from the bustle of the city, the teachings of Christ were perceived best of all.

2 main commandments of the Bible: love God and neighbor

The Old and New Testaments approach breaking the commandments differently.

The Old Testament says that a person must be punished - up to the death penalty.

In the New Testament - that a person will not receive the rewards that each specific beatitude promises. For example, the meek will own the earth, but the pure in heart will see God. Those who endure persecution for Christ's sake are promised a reward in heaven.

When asked which commandment is the main one, the Savior answered: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind: this is the first and greatest commandment; the second is like it: love thy neighbor as thyself; on these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets” (Gospel of Matthew 22:37-40).

These words are the whole meaning of the Old and New Testaments.

Remember

  1. In Orthodoxy there are 21 God's Commandments.
  2. There are 10 commandments of Moses, 9 beatitudes and 2 main commandments of Jesus Christ.
  3. When we keep the Law of God, we maintain health, gain inner peace and hope to gain eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven

Prophet Moses received the Ten Commandments when the Jews left Egyptian slavery and approached Mount Sinai in the desert. God Himself wrote the Ten Commandments on two stone tablets (slabs). The first four commandments outlined man's duties towards God. The remaining six commandments laid out the duties of man towards his fellow men. For the violation of many commandments, such as: for idolatry, bad words against God, for bad words against parents, for murder and for adultery - the death penalty was due. The Old Testament was dominated by a spirit of severity and punishment. But this severity was useful for people, as it restrained them bad habits and little by little people began to improve. Most of the commandments in the Old Testament tell us what we must not do.

By the first commandment, God points man to Himself and inspires to honor Him. Worshiping God means that we must express our faith in God with all our actions.

The second commandment was written when people were very inclined to venerate various idols and deify the forces of nature: the sun, stars, fire, etc. The idolaters built themselves idols representing their false gods and worshiped these idols. Idolatry is excessive attachment to money and wealth.

The third commandment forbids pronouncing the name of God in vain, without due reverence. This commandment generally prohibits a frivolous and irreverent attitude towards the name of God.

By the fourth commandment, God commands six days to work and do one's duties, and to dedicate the seventh day to God, i.e. on the seventh day to do holy and pleasing deeds. The holy and pleasing deeds of God are: caring for the salvation of one’s soul, prayer in the temple of God and at home, studying the Holy Scriptures and the Law of God, thinking about God and the purpose of one’s life, pious conversations about the subjects of the Christian faith, helping the poor, visiting the sick and others. good deeds. In the Old Testament, the Sabbath was celebrated to commemorate the end of God's creation of the world.

By the Fifth Commandment, God commands us to honor our parents and for this promises a prosperous and long life. To honor parents means: to love them, to be respectful to them, not to offend them by words or deeds, to obey them, to help them in their daily work, to take care of them when they are in need, and especially during their illness and old age, also pray for them to God both during their life and after death. The sin of disrespecting parents is a great sin. In the Old Testament, whoever spoke bad words about a father or mother was punished by death. Along with parents, we must also honor those who in any respect replace our parents.

By the sixth commandment, God forbids murder, i.e. taking the life of other people, as well as of oneself (suicide) in any way. Life is the greatest gift, therefore no one has the right to take away this gift. Suicide is the most terrible sin, because this sin contains despair and grumbling against God. And besides, after death there is no opportunity to repent and atone for your sin.

The seventh commandment forbids adultery and all unlawful and impure intercourse. Married husband and wife made a promise to live together all their lives and share both joys and sorrows together. Therefore, by this commandment, God forbids divorce. If a husband and wife different tempers and tastes, they should make every effort to smooth out what they have different, and put the unity of the family over personal benefits.

The eighth commandment forbids theft, that is, the appropriation in any way of what belongs to others. Sins against this commandment can be: Deception (ie, appropriation of someone else's thing by cunning), for example: when they evade payment of a debt, they hide what they have found, without looking for the owner of the found thing; when they overweight when selling or give the wrong change; when they do not give the due wages to the worker. Theft is the theft of someone else's property.

In the ninth commandment, God forbids telling lies about another person and forbids all lies in general. The ninth commandment is violated by those who: Gossip - retells to others the shortcomings of their acquaintances. Slander - deliberately tells lies about other people in order to harm them. Condemns - makes a strict assessment of a person, classifying him as a bad person.

With the tenth commandment, God forbids not only doing something bad to others around us, but also forbids bad desires and even bad thoughts in relation to them. The sin against this commandment is called envy. He who envies, who in his thoughts desires someone else's, he can easily go from bad thoughts and desires to bad deeds.

3.3. The process of creative interaction of opposing ideas and antagonistic tendencies in the system of spiritual values of Judaism: ethics and ritual, universalism and nationalism, the "chosenness" of the Jewish people (as the bearer of Divine revelation) and the equality of all people.

The history of Judaism is characterized by a continuous process of creative interaction of opposing ideas and antagonistic tendencies - ethics and ritual, universalism and nationalism, the chosenness of the Jewish people as the bearer of Divine revelation and the equality of all people created in the image and likeness of God, personal redemption and national liberation, unprecedented devotion in history. lost ancient homeland, the desire to return to it and adapt to life in exile.

One of the most significant works of Jewish mysticism, the Zohar (Radiance), speaks of three elements connected one with the other. They are God, Torah and Israel. While these three ideas have evolved over the centuries and that differences in emphasis do exist depending on culture and point of view, there is nevertheless a certain consensus among believers that God, the Torah, and the people are of paramount importance to Judaism. As the Jewish theologian Lewis Jacobe put it without further ado:

“Judaism without God is not Judaism. Judaism without the Torah is not Judaism. Judaism without Jews is not Judaism.”

The difference between secular and religious Judaism can be very useful here. "Secular Judaism" characterizes the philosophy of the Jews, who accept certain Jewish values and then sometimes in religious practices, but without giving them religious significance. They can call themselves Jews and at the same time reject any religious philosophy. Some scientists, in order to draw a clear line between one and the other, propose to introduce new terms. For example, Jakob Nesner suggests the word "Jewish" for comparison with a Jew. The latter is one who belongs to the Jewish ethnic group. By his Jewishness is meant what is Jewish in his culture, in whatever part of the world he lives. On the other hand, a "Jew" is a Jew who furthermore asserts his agreement with Jewish tradition in an important and significant way. Nesner here distinguishes between Jewry and Judaism, which he calls the "Jewish tradition". In his book The Way of the Torah: An Introduction to Judaism, he writes:

“Jewry refers to a set of traits that, in various frames, are considered as characteristic and special for Jews; however, these traits may have little, if any, relevance to the Jewish tradition. Judaism consists of a religious tradition, carefully preserved in sacred books, expressed in sacred words, deeds, lifestyle, principles of faith, brought together under the word "Torah".

The attitude of secular Jewry to the place of religion in the state and public life of the State of Israel is also ambiguous - from the complete denial of the role of religion in the formation of the Jewish state and its life to the understanding of Israel as the incarnation in secular form religious aspirations of hundreds of generations of Jews and the desire to use the religious and cultural heritage of the Jewish people to the fullest extent in the construction of the national state.

Such a polarization of views is a direct continuation of the polar tension that characterized the development of Judaism and was resolved not only in theoretical debates, but also in the emotional experience of many generations of Jews throughout Jewish history, ready for heroic deeds and self-sacrifice in the consciousness of the mission entrusted to them of translating ideals that seem to be utopia.

Law of God is a guiding star for every Christian. This is the only way to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Modern world very difficult for anyone. Therefore, everyone should see the need for the 10 commandments of God and the 7 deadly sins. This applies not only to adults, but also to children. Therefore, many people turn to such authoritative guidance. The 10 commandments of God in Russian appeared relatively long ago.

Interpretation of the 10 Biblical Commandments

God created rules and laws. People should have an understanding of evil and good, of their own intentions and actions. Children cannot understand the commandments in an adult way, which means that they need to be explained in a simple way. Therefore, here are the commandments of God with understandable interpretations for kids.

God is one

The Bible says, "I am the Lord thy God, and there are no other gods but Me." There is only one Creator, and there is no one else besides Him, and therefore one must believe with all one's soul and heart. This is tantamount to believing your parents - mom and dad. The creator who created the world does not forget about people and takes care of everyone. God must always be remembered and honored, and it is necessary to address him only through prayers.

God said so that people do not create any image for themselves, do not serve and worship him. If any idol appears, many forget about the commandments and about God himself. bad child one that is able to exchange father and mother for a computer or dolls.

An example is Kai, who became addicted to evil, therefore, he lost love and goodness, because he chose the snow queen as an idol. The fairy-tale character had different toys, but he did not have happiness. Only after the arrival of Gerda in the ice castle, Kai's heart was filled with goodness and love, after which he came to life again. For Christians, God becomes above everything, and the next lower step is occupied by close people. Idols can be not only things, but also people, for example, celebrities. Therefore, you should not get carried away by popular people who will not do anything good for the soul.

Don't take the Lord's name in vain

The Lord's name should be treated with reverence and not pronounced unnecessarily. It is necessary to speak the name of God only with great reverence and attention. Every appeal to the Lord is done through prayer. Once a priest said that it was like telephone conversation: at one end of the tube they are talking, and at the other end they are listening. Therefore, a Christian person should not cry out to God without reason. The Lord's name is kept in the heart with all frugality and in vain it is not worth letting it out from there. If during a conversation it was accidentally pronounced: “Lord”, then immediately in addition it is pronounced: “Glory to you” or “Have mercy on me”.

Six day work week

6 days you can do all things and work, but on the 7th day you can’t do this - this is God's day and is dedicated only to him. The seventh day is Sunday. On ordinary days, one must fulfill all the commandments and pray, but on Sunday, household chores stop and attention is devoted to the Heavenly Father. To fulfill the fourth commandment, you should go to church and take communion, as well as participate in worship.

Honor your parents

Christ said that the one who honors his parents will be blessed on earth. Children are obliged to help their parents, to obey them. When children are small, parents raise them and help them until they become adults. Adult children should not forget about the elderly mother and father.

Reverence is not limited to politeness, it is necessary to provide specific assistance. Parents will be already at the end of their lives, so adult children should provide all possible assistance, both materially and spiritually. Support means a lot, so you should obey your elders, respect mentors and teachers. To be worthy, you need to treat people well.

Don't kill

The deprivation of human life by another person is truly the most terrible event. God gave life is a priceless gift. No one has the right to take away such a gift from a person. If we take various wars as an example, then killing aggressors is also considered a sin, but to a small extent. This sin is justified, but refusing to come to the defense is truly a betrayal, and such a decision is ranked among the terrible sins. You always need to protect loved ones from invaders.

Adults and teenagers must understand that it is possible to commit murder without a weapon in hand. It is enough to take a sneaky step with the help of a word or deed. Although the one who plotted the terrible intention did not participate in direct contact, but he is the killer who started such an intention. It is unacceptable to mock the smaller brothers: domestic animals, birds, beasts and insects - all those who have life. God created man to take care of them.

Don't commit adultery

Love cannot be crossed. It is also forbidden to betray. This law of fidelity is about those who are loved by a person and love him. To preserve the family, it is important to keep the commandment of faithfulness. It is forbidden for a husband to look at other women - this is adultery. Even thoughts about others grow into lust, which in turn is a sin.

Faithful to each other, husband and wife will remain together forever and live a long and happy life. Any factor of betrayal is treason. It is hard to live with such a feeling of guilt, besides, a person will bring a terrible sin onto his soul.

Do not steal

The next bad thing is stealing, which means to take someone else's things without return. Most people are inclined to believe that if any item was found on the street, then the act is not considered theft.

For example, a person was walking down the road from work and found an expensive phone. There are two options: take it with you, no matter how much it costs, or find the owner of the device. In the second case, the deed will become noble. You can't steal or take someone else's. In this way, God tests the faithfulness of a person, so you should not be tempted and take sin on your soul.

Don't bear false witness

Sometimes people deliberately use lies to hide the truth and overcome some unpleasant situations in life. They think it will help them. It is important to understand: no matter what the deception is, it will always be revealed, even later, but this cannot be avoided. It is a sin if one person invents evil against another. Many engage in slander to defame innocent people.

Don't want anything from someone else

Envy knows no bounds, it destroys joy. Therefore, you cannot be jealous. Usually this happens due to the fact that someone lives better than the other. There is a saying: "The miser pays twice." There are moments in life where a greedy and envious person cunningly buys some product, but after a while, albeit a long time, that person will also be outwitted. You can’t do this, you need to rejoice at positive situations when something good happens to friends or relatives. For such an event, one must thank God, and not grind one's teeth and envy. In Christianity, they do not envy "white envy", they can only rejoice. Such a virtue is much better than envy and greed.

Seven deadly sins

In this regard, there is a widespread opinion that "seven terrible sins" is an equal number of committed actions. This is not true. The list of small sinful acts can be very long, for example:

It's just that the number 7 consists of main groups and has many subgroups of bad deeds. Saint Gregory the Great was the first to propose the idea of such a classification. It happened in 590. But in the church there was a slightly different classification, and there were eight sins.

Deadly sins in Orthodoxy, a list of the main addictions:

  1. pride. A slight contempt for a person breeds pride. If a proud person feels contempt for others because they are low in origin, poor and ignorant, then he independently attributes himself to the wisest people. After all, he is rich, strong, noble and prudent. He resists, mocks the preferences of others. But he can be healed if he turns to God. After all, it was said that the Lord gives grace to the humble, but opposes the proud;
  2. envy. The well-being of a neighbor always upsets an envious person. That's why human soul becomes evil. The vice of an envious person manifests itself in this way: to see a happy man unhappy, a rich man poor, a healthy man poor. The happiness of the envious appears when the happy life of another person is overtaken by disaster. Such a vice that has penetrated the heart forms a launching pad for all other sins, not counting the many upcoming small and big dirty tricks. As a result, a terrible sin can happen - murder, due to the fact that someone lives better and has his own good business. Perhaps the envious person is not capable of committing a crime, but this will always make him feel bad. Vice will begin to intensify and devour the soul. A person will needlessly reduce himself to the grave, but the afterlife will not save him either. There he will continue to suffer;
  3. gluttony. There are three types of gluttony: eating in different time- this is the first kind; the second is oversaturation, and the third is the use of exclusively tasty dishes. A true Christian must be careful: meals are taken at a strictly defined time, one must not oversaturate, one must thank God, even for the most meager food. In gluttony, the stomach is in its own slavery. This is not only excessive gluttony for dining table, but also insane culinary intelligibility with a preference for gourmet dishes. If you look at it from a cultural point of view, then there is a huge gulf between a gourmet and rampant gluttony. Nevertheless, they are doomed to food slavery. For such a category, food is not the usual source of energy, but becomes the main goal in life;
  4. fornication. A person is not omnipotent and succumbs to various temptations, but one cannot stop fighting and repenting of sins. Only in this way is the path to holiness paved. At every step in the modern metropolis there is a mass of various images. These perversions are shown on TV, and the Internet is full of all sorts of bad things. Often a young person covers his good desires with poisonous images and is unable to think about anything else. He begins to take possession of the demon of passion. Passing next to women, a young man perceives them as females. The intoxicated brain is filled with lustful thoughts, and the heart yearns for the satisfaction of dirty thoughts. Such debauchery is not inherent even in animals, but a person is able to sink even to such a level. Fornication is considered not only illegitimate sex life and betrayal, but also similar thoughts;
  5. anger. In a fit of anger, a person entails great danger. He swears at himself, yells at others, comes into a feverish state of anger. Such a person is like a demon. But for the human soul, anger is considered a natural property. The Lord God specially put such a quality into a person, but in order to resist and be angry at sin, and not at people. Over time, righteous anger perverted and began to be directed at his neighbor. Little things cause fights, swearing, screaming and murder. This is a harmful sin;
  6. greed. Many say that only the wealthy who seek to increase their wealth can be greedy. But such a sin applies to everyone: both the rich and the poor. Passion consists in painful attempts to possess things and increase material wealth;
  7. laziness. It is expressed by extreme pessimism and general bodily and spiritual relaxation. A strong-willed person purposefully goes to the goal with jealousy in his heart, which moves him forward. And despondency manifests itself in an unattainable goal. Man sets himself too difficult task therefore, jealousy does not move the will, which in turn results in laziness. A person is upset that he cannot achieve what he wants, and gives up, discouraged for days on end. This happens when a person departs from the Creator and directs all his thoughts to earthly affairs, and not to heavenly ones.

Ten Curious Facts About the Bible

The most legendary book is the Holy Scripture. It was written in ancient times several thousand years ago. It is one of the most famous and bought on the whole planet.

Interesting Facts:

In this article, we have listed the ten commandments of Christianity. We have also prepared for you an interpretation of the laws of God.

Ten Commandments of Christianity

Here are the Commandments that the Lord God of Hosts gave to the people through His chosen one and the prophet Moses on Mount Sinai (Exodus 20:2-17):

  1. Dont kill.
  2. Don't commit adultery.
  3. Don't steal.

Truly, this law is short, but these commandments say a lot to anyone who knows how to think and who seeks the salvation of his soul.

Anyone who does not understand with his heart this main God's law will not be able to accept either Christ or His teachings. Whoever does not learn to swim in shallow water will not be able to swim in depth, for he will drown. And whoever does not learn to walk first will not be able to run, for he will fall and be broken. And whoever does not first learn to count to ten will never be able to count thousands. And whoever does not first learn to read in syllables will never be able to read fluently and speak eloquently. And whoever does not first lay the foundation of the house will try in vain to build a roof.

I repeat: whoever does not keep the commandments of the Lord given to Moses will knock in vain at the doors of the Kingdom of Christ.

FIRST COMMANDMENT

I am the Lord your God... Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.

This means:

God is One, and there are no other gods besides Him. From Him all creatures come, thanks to Him they live and return to Him. All strength and power resides in God, and there is no strength outside of God. And the power of light, and the power of water, and air, and stone is the power of God. If an ant crawls, a fish swims and a bird flies, then this is thanks to God. The ability of a seed to grow, grass to breathe, a person to live, are the essence of God's abilities. All these abilities are the property of God, and every creature receives its ability to exist from God. The Lord gives to everyone as He sees fit, and takes back when He sees fit. Therefore, when you want to gain the ability to do something, seek only in God, for the Lord God is the source of life-giving and mighty power. There are no other sources besides Him. Pray to the Lord like this:

“God, Merciful, inexhaustible, the only source of strength, strengthen me, the weak, give me greater strength so that I can better serve You. God, give me wisdom so that I do not use the power received from You for evil, but only for the benefit of myself and my neighbors, to magnify Your glory. Amen".

THE SECOND COMMANDMENT

Do not make for yourself an idol or any image of what is in heaven above, and what is on the earth below, and what is in the water below the earth.

It means:

Do not deify creation instead of the Creator. If you climbed a high mountain where you met the Lord God, why should you look back at the reflection in a puddle under the mountain? If a certain person longed to see the king and after much effort managed to stand before him, why would he then look around to the right and left at the king's servants? He can look around for two reasons: either because he does not dare to stand face to face before the king, or because he thinks that the king alone cannot help him.

THIRD COMMANDMENT

Do not pronounce the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave without punishment the one who pronounces His name in vain.

What, are there really such people who decide to commemorate, without reason and need, the name that leads to trepidation - the name of the Lord God Most High? When the name of God is pronounced in heaven, the heavens bow, the stars flash brighter, the Archangels and Angels sing: “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts,” and the saints and saints of God fall on their faces. Then who among mortals dares to commemorate the Most Holy Name of God without spiritual trembling and without deep sighing from longing for God?

THE FOURTH COMMANDMENT

Work six days, and do all your work; and the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.

This means:

The Creator created for six days, and on the seventh day He rested from His labors. Six days are temporary, vain and short-lived, and the seventh is eternal, peaceful and durable. By the creation of the world, the Lord God entered into time, but did not leave eternity. This mystery is great...(Eph. 5:32), and it is more fitting to think about it than to talk about it, for it is not available to everyone, but only to God's chosen ones.

FIFTH COMMANDMENT

Honor your father and your mother, that your days on earth may be long.

This means:

Before you knew the Lord God, your parents knew Him. This alone is enough for you to bow to them with respect and give them praise. Bow down and give praise to everyone who has known the Highest Good in this world before you.

THE SIXTH COMMANDMENT

Dont kill.

This means:

God breathed life from His life into every created being. Life is the most precious wealth given by God. Therefore, whoever encroaches on any life on earth raises his hand on the most precious gift of God, moreover, on the very life of God. All of us living today are only temporary bearers of God's life in ourselves, custodians of the most precious gift that belongs to God. Therefore, we do not have the right, and we cannot take away the life borrowed from God, either from ourselves or from others.

SEVENTH COMMANDMENT

Don't commit adultery.

And this means:

Do not have an illegal relationship with a woman. Indeed, in this, animals are more obedient to God than many people.

THE EIGHTH COMMANDMENT

Don't steal.

And this means:

Do not grieve your neighbor by disrespecting his property rights. Don't do what foxes and mice do if you think you're better than a fox and a mouse. The fox steals without knowing the law on theft; and the mouse gnaws at the barn, not realizing that it is harming someone. Both the fox and the mouse understand only their own need, but not someone else's loss. They are not given to understand, but you are given. Therefore, you are not forgiven what is forgiven for a fox and a mouse. Your benefit must always be subordinate to the law, it must not be to the detriment of your neighbor.

NINTH COMMANDMENT

Do not bear false witness against your neighbor.

BUT this means:

Do not be deceitful either towards yourself or towards others. If you lie about yourself, you yourself know that you are lying. But if you slander someone else, that other person knows that you are slandering about him.

THE TENTH COMMANDMENT

Do not covet your neighbor's house; do not covet your neighbor's wife; neither his servant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is with your neighbor.

And this means:

As soon as you desired someone else's, you have already fallen into sin. Now the question is, will you come to your senses, will you catch yourself, or will you continue to roll down the inclined plane, where the desire of someone else leads you?

Desire is the seed of sin. A sinful act is already a harvest from the seed sown and grown.

1. I am the Lord thy God, and there are no other gods but Me.

2. Do not create for yourself an idol and no image; do not worship them and do not serve them.

3. Do not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

4. Work for six days and do all your work, and the seventh is a day of rest, which you dedicate to the Lord your God.

5. Honor your father and mother, may you be blessed on earth and long-lived.

6. Thou shalt not kill.

7. Do not commit adultery.

8. Don't steal.

9. Do not bear false witness.

10. Don't wish anything for someone else.

FIRST COMMANDMENT

I am the Lord thy God, and there are no other gods but Me. (Exodus 20:2-3)

This means: there is one God, and there are no other gods but Him alone. He is the Almighty, Almighty, All-Wise and All-Good God All creation came from Him, it lives by Him and will return to Him. He is the Holy, Strong and Immortal God, unchanging, peaceful, beginningless and endless. He has no need or dissatisfaction. All ascend to Himcountless lights (Angels standing before the throne of God are often calleddivine lights . Their number is uncountable) and move around Him. He rests among them, like a fixed axle in a wheel. The axle holds, and the wheel rotates. All power is in God (our life , the energy of creation with our hands and thoughts) and there is no power outside of God. And the power of light, and water, and air, and stone - is the power of God. The power by which the ant crawls, and the fish swims, and the bird flies, is the power of God. The power that makes seeds grow, grass breathe, and man live, is the power of God. All power is the property of God, and every creature receives its power from God. God gives to everyone as much as He wants and takes back when He wants. Therefore, when you seek strength, seek it only from God, because God is the source of living and great strength, and there is no other source besides Him. He directs and gives inspiration for righteous and right deeds.

All wisdom is in God , and there is neither wisdom nor the slightest knowledge apart from God. Everything that is created is created by God, and in every creation God has put something of His Wisdom. Therefore, in order not to sin before God, do not think that God gave wisdom only to man. Wisdom has a horse, and a bee, and a fly, and a swallow, and a stork, and a tree, and a stone, and water, and air, and fire, and wind. The Wisdom of God abides in everything, and nothing could exist without it. That's why, when you seek wisdom, seek it only from God, because God is the source of Living and Great Wisdom. Apart from God, there is no other source.

All goodness is in God. That is why Christ said: "No one is good, except God alone." His goodness lies in His mercy, longsuffering, and forgiveness of sinners. God has put His goodness into every creation. Therefore, every creation of God has God's goodness. So, even Satan (the devil) has it, it is thanks to her that he wants good for himself, and not evil. But out of his stupidity, he wants to achieve good by evil, that is, he thinks that by doing evil to all God's creations, he can do good for himself.

Oh, how great is the goodness of God, poured into every creation of God: in stone, in plants, in animals, in fire, in water, in air, in wind. All of it is received from God, the Beginningless and Inexhaustible and Great Source of all virtue. And when you want to grow in virtue, do not look for it anywhere but God. He alone has what you need in abundance. That is why the Lord commands us: You cannot have other gods but Me". (Ex 20:3)

(And we, like blind kittens, pray to pictures with other faces (idols) depicted on them, bowing our heads and kissing the hands of the priests (as if they are Gods to us), who, in serving God, should explain the true faith to people, and not exalt themselves before people to worship - them, but not God.)

And why do you need other gods, if your God is the Lord Almighty?

Is there anyone wiser than God?

God directs through your righteous thoughts about good for yourself and your neighbor.

Satan - manages, setting traps of temptation. If you have two gods, know that one of them is the Devil.

You can't serve both God and the devil at the same time just as one ox cannot plow two fields at the same time, and one candle cannot burn in two houses at the same time. An ox does not need two masters, because they will tear it to pieces. The forest does not need two suns, because it will burn. The ant does not need two drops of water, because it will drown in them. A child does not need two mothers, because he will be left unattended. And you do not need two Gods, because you will not be richer, but poorer. Because the more gods, the weaker they are. If you have as many gods as people, your gods will be weaker than people, and if you have as many of them as ants, then they will be as weak as ants. So honor these numerous gods as nothing and, taking a broom, sweep them out of the threshold of your house. Stay yourself with the only Lord your God, who has all the power, all the wisdom and all the goodness, indivisible, inexhaustible and infinite. Honor Him alone, worship Him and fear Him.

Oh my God! You own an innumerable multitude of creations, but I, Your creation, cannot have a god other than You alone. God Merciful! Drive away all my empty thoughts and dreams about other gods. Purify my soul, sanctify it and expand it, and dwell in it like a King in Your chamber. Strengthen me, teach, correct and renew me, the One True One, glory and thanksgiving befits You, who rises above all false deities, like a high mountain above the plain.

THE SECOND COMMANDMENT

Do not make yourself an idol and no image; do not worship them and do not serve them.

This means: do not deify the creation, do not revere it as the Creator. (all icons and other pictures with the "saints" called by the church, whom people worship, do not have the Power of God. Is there anyone wiser and more powerful than God?)

“Do not make for yourself a carving or any other image of what is in the heavens above, on the earth below, or in the waters below the earth. Do not bow down and serve them, for I am your God, Jehovah, who requires exclusive devotion! (Exodus 20:4 -5)

If you climbed a high mountain and met the Lord God there, why do you look back at the shallow marsh growth at the foot of the mountain? If a person wanted to see the tsar and, after long efforts, achieved a meeting with him, will he look around at this meeting and look at the tsar's servants and lackeys to the right and left? He can behave like this only in two cases: either he cannot bear the presence of the king and seeks support from those around him; or sees that the king is unable to help him, and is looking for a stronger patron.

Why can't man bear the presence of the King of God? Is this king not his father? Why is he afraid of meeting his Father? Human! Didn't God think of you even before you were born? Did He not keep you in a dream and in reality, even when you did not know about it? Did He think more of you every day than you cared about yourself? Why then are you afraid of Him? Truly your fear is the fear of the sinner. Sin is always fraught with fear. It generates fear where there is no fear, where there is no place for it or its consequences. Sin diverts your eyes from the King to the slaves. In their midst, sin is the master himself, feasting among his slaves. But we must remember that the Tsar is more merciful than the slaves. Let us not turn away from the merciful King - our Father. The look of the king will burn away the sin in you, just as the sun burns germs in water, and this water becomes clean and drinkable.

Or maybe you think that God cannot help you, and therefore you turn to His servants? To the apostles, for example... But if God cannot help you, then even more so, His servants cannot. After all, they themselves are God's creations and are waiting for help from God. Not a single step is taken by them without the command of God to his actions. What help do you expect from them? If a thirsty person cannot drink from a mountain stream, how can he get drunk by licking the dewdrops in the meadow?

Who deifies a sculpture or a painting? The one who did not know the artist and carver. He who does not know God and does not believe in Him is doomed to deify things because it is human nature to deify something.

God, like a sculptor, fashioned mountains and valleys, carved the bodies of animals and plants, He, like an elegant artist, painted meadows and fields, clouds and lakes. The one who understands all this praises and thanks God as a great Artist and Sculptor, and those who do not know this are forced to worship only the statues and pictures of God.

Diseases of the soul

If a person devotes all his thoughts and all his zeal to his family and wants to know nothing but his family, then his family is a god for him. And then it is a disease of the soul of the first kind.

If a man devotes all his thoughts and all his zeal to gold and silver and does not want to know anything else, then gold and silver are his deity, to whom he bows day and night, until the night of death finds him doing this occupation and covers him with his darkness. . And this is the disease of the soul of the second kind.

If a person directs all his thoughts and all his zeal towards being the first among all and commanding at all costs, so that everyone glorifies and praises him, considers himself the best among all people and the best among creatures, that he has no equal in heaven, not on earth, then such a person is his own deity, for the sake of which he is ready for anything. And this is a disease of the soul of the third kind.

If someone writes the name of God on paper, or on a tree, or on a stone, or on snow, or on earth, then honor this paper, and this tree, and this stone, and snow, and earth for the sake of the Most Holy Name of God, written on them. But do not idolize that on which this holy name is written. Or when you have material on which the face of God is depicted, do not bow to Him, and know that you bow not to matter, but to the great and living God, whom the image reminds of. Or when you see the greatness of the stars of heaven at night, you can bow, but not to them - the creation of God's hands, but to the Lord Most High, the highest of the stars of heaven, the radiance of which reminds you of Him.

Lord, One Many-Merciful! We will know the One, recognize and praise you.

THIRD COMMANDMENT

Take not the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

What? Are there really those who dare to mention in vain the terrible and mysterious name of the Lord God Most High? When the name of God is pronounced in heaven, the heavens bow in fear, the stars shine brighter, the Archangels and Angels sing: “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts, fill heaven and earth with Thy Glory,” and the saints of God fall on their faces. How, then, can mortal lips dare to commemorate the Most Holy Name of God without spiritual trembling, without deep sighing and yearning for God?

"Do not use the name of your God inappropriately, for God will not leave without punishment anyone who uses His name inappropriately" (Exodus 20:7)

When a person lies on his deathbed, no matter what names he calls, none of them can make him brave and restore peace of mind. But the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, uttered at least once, gives courage and establishes peace in the soul of a person. The remembrance of this comforting name lightens his last breath.

Human! When you lost faith in your loved ones and felt lonely in this endless world or tired of a long lonely journey, remember the name of God, and it will become your support for your tired and heavy hands and feet.

Scientist! When you are exhausted over the solution of a difficult riddle of nature and, having used all the possibilities of your small mind, you cannot find the right answer, remember the name of God, the name higher mind, and the light will illuminate your soul and the riddle will be solved.

O wonderful name of God! How omnipotent You are, how beautiful, how sweet! Let my mouth be silent forever if it is spoken carelessly, impurely and in vain.

Parable

One goldsmith, working in his workshop, constantly used the name of God in vain: either as an oath, or as a saying. A pilgrim passing through this village heard these words and was extremely indignant. He loudly called the master by name to go outside and hide himself. And when the master went outside, he found that no one was there. Surprised, he returned to his workshop and continued to work. After a while, the wanderer calls him again, and when he leaves, he pretends that he did not call him at all. A very angry master called out to the wanderer: "Are you tempting me, wanderer, or are you joking when I have so much work? You call me, and then pretend that you did not call me." The wanderer answers him peacefully: “Truly, God has much more work to do than you, but you remember Him all the time in vain, and you are offended by me for distracting you. Who has more reason to be angry - God or you, gold deeds master?" And the master felt ashamed. He returned to his studio and has kept his mouth shut ever since.

Let the name of the Lord, like an inextinguishable lamp, unceasingly glow in our soul, in thoughts and heart, but do not touch our tongue without a significant and solemn occasion.

Parable

A doctor came to practice in one hospital; he was given an assistant with whom he had to spend time from morning to night, operating and bandaging the patients. The assistant had a habit of swearing dirty. He spared no one in his expressions. His dirty swearing did not pass even the God of hosts. One day the doctor was visited by his friend, who came from the city. The doctor invited a friend to attend the operation. The patient was opened an abscess. The guest felt sick at the sight of a terrible wound from which pus flowed. In addition, the doctor's assistant kept on swearing dirty. Unable to bear it, the guest asked: "How can you listen to these vile blasphemous words?" The doctor answered: “My friend, I am used to the fact that there are dirty wounds and that pus often flows from the wounds. If there is a purulent abscess on the body of the patient, then the pus becomes visible due to the wound, and this abscess can be cured. But there is pus in the soul man, and it is possible to detect it only when it expires through the mouth. My assistant, cursing blasphemously, reveals for us the accumulated evil that pours out of his soul, like pus from a wound.

O All-Merciful God, even the frogs do not scold You, but man scolds! Why does a toad have a better larynx than a human? O All-Suffering One, why do not serpents blaspheme You, but a man blasphemes? Why is a snake closer to angels than a man? O Most Beautiful One, why does not the wind that crosses the earth turn in vain to Your name, but a man does? Why is the wind more God-fearing than man?

O Wonderful Name of God, how omnipotent you are, how beautiful and how sweet you are! Let my mouth be silent forever if it is spoken carelessly, impurely and in vain.

THE FOURTH COMMANDMENT

Six days you work and do all your work, and the seventh is a day of rest, which you dedicate to the Lord your God.

This means: in six days the Lord created the world, and on the seventh he rested from His works. Six days are located in time, and therefore they are transient and restless, and the seventh belongs to eternity, therefore it is imperishable and calm. The creation of the world is a manifestation of God in time, but this does not mean that He ceased to be at this time in Eternity. "This mystery is great," and it is indecent to speak fussily about it. It requires prayer and reverence. Therefore, this mystery is not accessible to everyone, but only to God's chosen ones. The chosen ones of God are in time with their bodies, but with their spirits they are in the Unapproachable Light, in which there is eternity, peace and bliss.

Not everyone knows, or rather, few people know that the time period of Divine time differs from the earthly time of Man. And church ministers do not explain this, and biblical translators do not write about it into the languages of different peoples, and the creators - interpreters of these books mention it in passing, without explaining, in order to attract as many people as possible to their religions by religious rites and customs, instilling fear and enriching themselves with material but not the Wisdom of God. If you study the Bible (or other biblical writings), it becomes clear that the age for us is set at about 1000 years, but for God it is only one day. Therefore, we are not talking specifically about the seventh day, it was established for the first people living on earth, further in the "New Testament" Jesus explains that "you can turn to God on any day and in any position of the body", that is, standing, lying , sitting, floating in the air, floating in the water ... - in any, and you can work not to the detriment of yourself (and therefore to God) on any day. But the day of rest itself was left in the scriptures, designating it as the "seventh" according to the scriptures of the "Old Testament". If you like what you do, then your work becomes your rest. Creative people: artists, writers, masters of any direction of creative works, are happy to create their masterpieces on any day, and it is not for nothing that people call many works the phrase "given from God", because they see this or that value of the creator and the need for humanity.

And for you, brother, it is useful to work, and after labor it is useful to rest. It is useful to work, because God has blessed labor; it is useful to rest, because God has blessed rest after work. Let your labor be Creativity, since you are a child of the Creator, so do not destroy, but create!

Consider your work as co-working with God. And then you will not do evil, but good. Before doing anything, think: would God bless you for this work or not? Because the most important thing is to remember that the Lord does all the work; we are but His helpers. And if the work we are starting is blessed, then we must fulfill it sparing no effort. Your heart and lungs work day and night and don't get tired. Why can't your hands work too? And your kidneys work without rest day and night. Why can't your brain work?

Parable about laziness and rest

In one city there lived a rich merchant with three sons. He was an industrious merchant and amassed a huge fortune with his labors. When asked why he needed so much goodness and so many worries, he answered: "My only concern is that my sons be provided for and that they do not have such worries as their father had." Hearing this, his sons became so lazy that they left all activities, and after the death of their father began to spend the accumulated fortune. The father's soul wanted to see from the other world how his beloved sons live without hassle and worries. God allowed this soul to go to his native city. Here comes the soul of the father home and knocks on the gate, but opens some stranger. Then the merchant asked about his sons, and they told him that his sons were in hard labor. The habit of spending time idly in drunkenness and amusements first brought them to indecency, and then led to the final ruin of the house and death. The father sighed bitterly and said: "I thought I arranged a paradise for my children, meanwhile I myself sent them to hellish hell." And the distraught father went around the city, addressing all parents: “Don’t be, people, the way I was. Because of blind love for my children, I personally sent them to hell fire. Do not leave, brothers, children any property. Teach them to work and leave it to them as a legacy. Distribute all the rest of the wealth to the orphans before your death. There is nothing more dangerous and more soul-destroying than leaving a large fortune to children as an inheritance. Be sure that the devil, and not the Guardian Angel, rejoices most of all in a rich inheritance. Because the devil most easily and quickly catches people through wealth. So work hard and teach your children to work. And when you work, do not look at work only as a means of enrichment. See in your work the beauty and pleasure that labor gives as a blessing of God. Know that you are degrading this blessing if you seek only material gain from labor. Such work, devoid of blessing, does not benefit us, and it does not bring any benefit.

Rest on the seventh day! How to rest? Know that rest is only from God and in God. Nowhere else can righteous rest be found in this world. For this world is restless, like a whirlpool. Dedicate the rest of the seventh day exclusively to God, and then you will be able to truly rest and be filled with new strength. Everything good in your work on any day is for the good of God.

On the seventh day, think about God, talk about God, read about God, listen to God and pray to God.

Parable
One atheist did not honor God's commandment to celebrate the Sunday and continued to work on the Sabbath on Sunday as well. On Sunday, when the whole village was resting, he worked in the field with his cattle, which also did not rest. On Wednesday next week he was completely exhausted, and his cattle were also exhausted. And now, when the whole village was working in the field, he lay at home in exhaustion, anger and despair. Brothers, do not take an example from this atheist, so as not to destroy your strength, and health, and soul. Therefore, work with God for yourself for six days with love and pleasure, diligence and reverence, and devote the seventh day whole to God. I truly tell you from my own experience that right work and right celebration of Sunday inspire a person, make him younger and make him strong again after the work done.

FIFTH COMMANDMENT

Honor your father and mother, may you be blessed on earth and long-lived.

This means: before you knew anything about the Lord God, your parents knew about it. And this is enough to bow to them and give praise and reverence. Bow down and respectfully thank everyone who has known the Highest Good in this world before you.

A wealthy Indian youth was traveling with his entourage through the Hindu Kush valley. In the valley he met an old man tending goats. The beggar old man bowed his head in respect and bowed deeply to the rich young man. The young man, quickly jumping off his elephant, prostrated himself before the old man on the ground. The old man was surprised at such an act of the young man, and all his servants were surprised. The young man said this: “I bow to your eyes, which before mine saw this light, the work of the hands of the Most High, I bow to your lips, which before mine pronounced His holy name, and I bow to your heart, which trembled before mine from the joyful discovery of the Father of all people on earth "King of Heaven and Lord of all."

Honor your father and your mother, because your path from birth to this day is secured by the efforts of your parents and their suffering. They accepted you even when all your friends turned away from you, weak and impure. They will accept you when everyone rejects you. And when everyone throws stones at you, your mother will throw wildflowers. The Father accepts you, although he knows all your shortcomings. And your friends will reject you, even if they know only your virtues. Know that the tenderness with which your parents receive you belongs to the Lord, who accepts His creation as His children. Just as a spur makes a horse run faster, so does your guilt towards your parents make them care even more about you.

parables
One rude and bad man rushed at his father and plunged a knife into his chest in blinding. And the father, dying, says to his son: "Hurry, clean the knife of blood so that you are not seized and condemned."

In the Russian steppe, a licentious son tied his mother to a post in front of a tent, and in the tent he got drunk with bad women and friends. The robbers came across them and, seeing the mother tied up, they said that the scoundrels should be punished. But the bound mother gave a voice and thereby warned the unfortunate son that he was in danger. And the son was saved, but the robbers flogged the mother instead of the son.

Son, do not be proud of knowledge in front of your unlearned father, because his love is greater than your knowledge.Without it, there would be neither you nor your knowledge.
Daughter, do not be proud of your beauty in front of your hunched mother, because her heart is more beautiful than your face. Both you and your beauty came out of her meager womb. Learn, daughters, to honor your father, and through this learn to honor all other fathers on earth.
Exercise day and night, son, to honor your mother, for in this way you will learn to honor all other mothers on earth.. Truly, children, it is not right to honor only your father and mother, and not to notice other fathers and mothers. Your reverence for your parents is necessary for you as a school of respect for all people and all women who give birth in agony and raise their children in labor and suffering. Remember this and live according to this commandment so that God will bless you on earth.

THE SIXTH COMMANDMENT

Don't kill.

This means: God gives life from His Life to every creature, to all created being. Life is the most precious property of God, hence, whoever dares to encroach on someone's life, he dares to the precious possession of God - to the very Life of God. All of us who live today are temporary bearers of the Life of God in ourselves, keepers of God's precious possessions. Therefore, we do not dare and cannot destroy this borrowed God's Life in ourselves and in others.

And this means: first- we have no right to kill;second- we can't kill life.

Parable
One potter fashioned a clay vase, and when negligent people broke it, the potter became very upset and demanded compensation for the loss. A man is also made of the same cheap material as a vase, but what is precious in him is that a man has a soul, which forms a man from within, and the Spirit of God, which gives life to the soul.

So, neither father nor mother have the right to take the life of their children for it is not the parents who give life to the child, but God through the parents. Parents are a vessel in which God kneads life, and a kind of oven in which God bakes the Bread of Life. But parents do not give life, and therefore, if they do not give, then they do not have the right to take it away. If the parents who work so hard, care for and care for their children, do not have the right to take their lives, how can those who accidentally met in this world with the children of these parents have this right?

Parable
In America, in the city of Chicago, there lived two neighbors. One of them coveted the wealth of his neighbor, made his way to him at night and cut off his head. Then he took all his money, put it in his wallet and went home. As soon as he went out into the street, he saw a murdered neighbor who was walking towards him. Only instead of a severed head, the neighbor had the head of a murderer. In horror, the killer crossed to the other side of the street and ran without looking back, but the neighbor with the killer's head on his shoulders again found himself in front of the running man and walked towards him. The killer, drenched in cold sweat, somehow got to his house and did not fall asleep that terrible night. But the next night he again saw his neighbor in front of him with his own head on his shoulders. And so it was all night. Then the killer took the stolen money and threw it into the river. But that didn't help either. The neighbor appeared to him every night. The murderer surrendered to the court, admitted his guilt and was sent to hard labor. But that didn't help either. And in the dungeon the killer saw his neighbor every night with his head on his shoulders. In the end, he begged one old priest to pray for him, a sinner, to God and allow him to take communion. The priest replied that he must repent before taking communion. He replied that he repented of the murder of his neighbor. “Not that,” the priest told him. “You can’t understand and admit that your neighbor’s life is your own life. And by killing him, you killed yourself. That’s why you see your severed head on the body of the murdered one. a sign to you that your life, and the life of your neighbor, and all human life together are one and the same life.
The defendant understood this. And he also understood and recognized everything else. Then he prayed to God and took communion. And then the spirit of the murdered man ceased to haunt him, but he continued to spend days and nights in repentance and prayer, and told all the other condemned men about the miracle that had been revealed to him, namely, that a man cannot kill another without killing himself.
Ah, brothers, how terrible are the consequences of murder. If it were possible to describe them to all people, there would truly be no one who would raise a hand against someone else's life.

God awakens and irritates the conscience of the murderer so that his own conscience gnaws at him from the inside like a worm gnaws at a tree. The man thrashes and roars and barks like a mad lioness; neither by day nor by night does the unfortunate man have rest, neither in the mountains, nor in the field, nor in this life, nor after the grave. It would be better for a man if his skull were opened and a swarm of bees settled in him and stung him from the inside, rather than what his impure and criminal conscience does with his soul.

Therefore, God commanded people for the sake of their own peace and happiness: "Thou shalt not kill!"

O Lord, Good One, how sweet is every commandment of yours, like fresh nourishing milk. O Lord Almighty, save me from an evil deed and a avenging conscience, may I glorify and praise You forever and ever. Amen.

SEVENTH COMMANDMENT

Don't commit adultery.

And that means you can't have an illegal relationship with a woman. Verily, animals are more obedient to this commandment than many people. For animals enter into a relationship with each other exactly at the same time and exactly as the Creator predestined for them. And many people do not recognize either time or order in relationships between men and women.Their minds have become dulled from fornication, so that they do not distinguish between legal and illegal intercourse with a woman, just like a sick person does not distinguish between salty and sour. Therefore, it is often possible to hear from an adulterer justification of his sin, because they do not care at all whether their own wife or someone else's, the right time or the wrong time, it does not matter. As if a sick person would say, when they put salt in his mouth first, then pepper, then sugar: "All this is equally tasty. These are the same things, with the same taste." If it were all the same whether you live lawfully or lawlessly, then God would not have commanded the people of Israel through Moses: "Do not commit adultery." God gave Adam one wife, Eve. And the men of the eastern countries have sorrows, but at the same time they pray to their Allah. Slavic men have mistresses. How do you think their prayers are sincere in appeals to God for forgiveness?

The meaning invested in the prayer of forgiveness shows God that the Man has realized his mistake, which he will never make, will not repeat.

Adultery destroys a person physically and mentally.

Adulterers are usually twisted, like a bow from a harp, before old age they end their lives in wounds, torment and insanity. The most terrible and most vile diseases that science knows are diseases that are spread in multitude by human adultery. The body of the adulterer is constantly in sickness, like a stinking puddle, from which everyone runs with a pinched nose and great disgust. But if the evil ended with those who committed this evil, things would be less terrible. But it becomes terrible when you think that the children of adulterers inherit the diseases of their parents: sons and daughters, and even grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Indeed, diseases from adultery are a scourge for people, like a phylloxera worm for grapes. From these diseases, humanity declines, degrades, and more from these diseases than from any other.

Their sight is quite terrible when we think about those bodily torments and ugliness, rotting and decay of the body from prodigal diseases. But their sight becomes even more terrible, to the point of a nervous fever, when we see how spiritual abomination grows out of bodily deformity, as the consequences of this prodigal evil. Therefore, brothers, God, who knows everything and foresees everything, gave the commandment against adultery, against adultery, against extramarital affairs between people, against slavery. (We are not slaves, but children of God our Father). Especially the youth should hide and hide from this evil, as from a poisonous snake. Because a nation in which the youth has given way to debauchery and illicit bodily life has no future.

Such a people will in time have a generation of weak people, until they fall into captivity to a healthier people, who will easily subdue them. Who is not stupid can read ancient history peoples, and learn from this what terrible punishments come upon adulterous tribes and peoples.

AT Holy Scripture the end of the two cities of Sodom and Gomorrah is described, in which even ten righteous and pure people could not be found. For this, God sent a fiery hail of sulfur on them, so that both cities were walled up together, as in a coffin.

In southern Italy there is still a place called Pompeii, once a rich and luxurious city, but now miserable ruins, on which people gather and, seeing them, sigh in fear and horror. The history of Pompeii, in short, was this: wealth brought this city to such immoral and prodigal life, which cannot be remembered since the creation of the world. And suddenly the punishment of God came upon him. One day, Mount Vesuvius opened up near Pompeii and filled a volcano from there, and fiery lava with ash and stones covered the city of Pompeii with all its inhabitants, as in the graves they cover the earth of the dead.

May God Almighty help you, brothers, not to get lost and not to stand on slippery and dangerous path adultery. May I. Christ the Guardian help to keep peace and love in your house. May the Mother of God teach your sons and daughters Her Divine chastity, so that their bodies and souls are not stained with sin, but pure and bright, so that the Holy Spirit may be with them, instructing them and enriching them only with what is Divine, what is from God.

THE EIGHTH COMMANDMENT

Don't steal.

And this means: do not offend your brother by disrespectful attitude towards his estate. Do not treat him as foxes and mice do, if you honor yourself more than animals. The fox steals without knowing the law about theft, and the mouse gnaws at the barn without knowing that he is harming someone. Both the fox and the mouse know only their own need, but do not understand the loss of others. It is not given to them to know, but it is given to you. Therefore, you are not forgiven that the mouse and the fox are forgiven. Your benefit must always be below the law, and your benefit must not be to the detriment of your brother.

Brother, only those who do not know go to theft, in other words, those who do not know the two following truths.

First truth- something that a person cannot steal, and another- that a person cannot benefit through theft.

How is this possible? - many ignorant people will ask and be surprised. Here's how: our universe has many eyes. It really is all stuffed with eyes, like a plum tree with white flowers during flowering. People see and feel a certain number of these eyes, but they do not see a larger number and do not even know about their existence. First of all, the sun is the first such celestial eye, and so are the stars. But besides the sun and stars, there are millions and millions of many-eyed spirits who, without closing their eyes, look at what is happening on every centimeter of the earth. How then can a thief steal without anyone seeing, without revealing it? You can't put your hand in your pocket without a lot of bystanders seeing it. Still less do you have the opportunity to stick your hand into someone else's pocket, so that millions of higher forces are not alarmed; and this is the first truth.

The other truth is that a person cannot gain by stealing. Because, what will be the benefit if so many eyes have seen, and the theft will still be revealed? When the theft is discovered and the thief is revealed, the name "thief" will remain for him until his death among his neighbors. There are a thousand ways in which the powers of heaven expose a thief.

Parable (don't steal)
In one Arab city, the unrighteous merchant Ismail was trading. Every time he weighed the goods to the buyers, he always underweighed a few grams. Due to this deceit, his wealth increased greatly. But his children were sick, and he spent a lot on doctors and medicines. And the more he spent on the treatment of children, the more he deceived again from his customers. But what he stole from his customers was carried away by the illness of his children.

Once, when Ismail was in his shop and was very worried about his children, the sky opened up for a moment. He raised his eyes to the sky and sees that something unusual is happening there. Angels stand around huge scales, on which they measure all the blessings that God gives to people. The turn came to Ismail's family, and Ismail sees how the Angels, giving health to his children, put less than necessary on the cup of health, and instead put a weight on the scales. Ismail got angry and wanted to shout indignantly at the Angels, but one of them turned to face him and said: “Why are you angry? This measure is correct. We put a weight on your children that weighs as much as you steal from your customers. And so we do the truth of God." Ismail was shocked by the answer and began to bitterly repent of his grave sin. And Ismail began from that time not only to weigh correctly, but also to give beyond measure. And his children recovered.

So, brothers, a stolen thing always reminds a person that it was stolen and not his.

If it's not yours, it won't be yours. You take someone else's, you lose yours, which is more expensive than someone else's.

Parable
A certain young man stole a watch and wore it for about a month. After a month had passed, he returned the watch to its owner, confessed his crime and told him that every time he took the watch out of his pocket and wanted to know the time, he heard it ticking: "We are not yours; you - thief".

The Lord God knows that stealing makes both unhappy. And the one who stole, and the one from whom they stole. And so that people, His children, would not be unhappy, the All-Wise Lord gave this commandment: do not steal.

We thank You, Lord God, for this commandment, which we really need for the sake of our peace and happiness.

NINTH COMMANDMENT

Don't bear false witness.

And that means: do not lie to yourself or to others. Even in your own kitchen, don't lie. When you lie to yourself, you yourself know that you are lying. When you lie about another, he will also know that you are lying about him. When you exalt yourself and boast before people, people do not know, but t you yourself know that you are giving false information about yourself. If you constantly repeat some lie about yourself, people will still know that you are telling a lie. You yourself can begin to believe in your lies, and the lie can become the truth for you. And you will get used to lies, as a blind man gets used to darkness. When you tell a lie about another person, that person knows that you are lying. This is the first witness against you. And you yourself know that you are lying to him. Thus, you yourself are the second witness against yourself. And God is the third witness. And know that one of the three witnesses will convict you before the whole world.

This is how God rebukes false testimony against a neighbor.

Parables (don't lie)
Two neighbors, Luka and Elijah, lived in the same village. Luke was angry with Elijah because Elijah was a better person than Luke, who was a drunkard and lazy. Tormented by envy, Luke declared in court that Elijah had spoken blasphemous speeches against the king. Elijah defended himself as best he could and finally waved his hand and said, "May God Himself reveal your lies against me." But the court sentenced Elijah to imprisonment, and Luke returned home. When he was close
