Teak floors by the pool and bathroom

Burmese teak itself is a very common material with a fairly wide application. But still, its main purpose is to use in places with high humidity. There are many places like this both indoors and outdoors.

The most popular places to use Teak indoors are swimming pools and bathrooms, the main reason for this lies in the fact that Teak covered with oil when wet, unlike tiles, is absolutely non-slip and, accordingly, the risk of injury on the floor or sides of the pools is minimized. .

The technology of laying teak on terraces is no different from any other type of wood, but in the interior there is a very interesting technology for installing teak flooring.

Joint sealing between the boards - this is the main difference from the common floor laying. When laying a terrace or deck board, according to the technology, a compensation gap is left between the boards, which allows the material to move freely depending on changes in humidity and temperature in the environment. Using the sealing technology, all gaps between the boards are filled with a special elastic sealant, after which the board or parquet is sanded and coated with oil. The sealant is very elastic and, with seasonal movements of the tree, shrinks and expands along with the boards, preventing cracks from forming between them. First of all, the sealant was developed specifically for teak decking, because on decks water does not penetrate under it, but sticks to the side, and polished teak coated with oil does not become slippery even when it is wet, but it turned out that it is in demand not only on yachts, but also on the land. According to this principle, it is possible to lay floors on terraces, around pools, in winter gardens, in bathrooms (even on heated floors), and indeed in any room and using any type of wood. There is one "but" - whatever the color of the wood, the color of the sealant is only black with a minimum joint thickness of 5 mm, and such a floor can only be covered with oil.
