What are the dimensions of the bath, depending on the type

A beautiful and comfortable bath will allow you to regularly enjoy water treatments. Combining the optimal shapes and sizes of the bath, manufacturers satisfy all the needs of customers. The dimensions of the product are chosen based on the parameters of the room, the purchase budget, the possibility of comfortable and safe operation. Standard sanitary products of domestic or foreign production are produced from different materials: cast iron, steel, acrylic.

Compliance with the dimensions of the possibilities of the bath

When choosing the parameters of the bath, it must be taken into account that in addition to standard plumbing, a washing machine, furniture are installed, and free space is provided for movement in the room.

It should be borne in mind that with the same dimensions of products, their capacity may be different. The internal dimensions depend on the angle of the walls, the presence of armrests and headrests, roundings and protrusions. However, too large an oval or corner bath will take a long time to fill. Water consumption when using it will be uneconomical.

Standard bath dimensions have the following meaning:

  • length - 1.5 m, 1.7 m, 1.8 m. The value is measured on top of the product along with the sides;
  • width 0.7 m, 0.8 m, 0.85 m. Determined by the upper part without taking into account the sides. For elliptical models, measure at the head and in the drain area;
  • height - 0.4 m, 0.6 m, 0.65 m. To measure the height, a rail is placed on the sides in the area of \u200b\u200bthe drain hole. Down from it to the drain hole, measure the height of the product.

The ratio of the length and height of the product is determined by the rule: with an increase in length, the height decreases.

A small bath, complemented by a good curtain, can be used as a shower. Small plumbing products of non-standard shapes allow even a tall person to comfortably accommodate, in a reclining or half-sitting position. Often, miniature size does not mean limited technical equipment. Baths are complemented by options for hydromassage, maintaining the temperature of the water, air massage.

Let's note what factors should be considered when choosing the parameters of a sanitary ware:

  • when in water, a person's head should be located above the filling level;
  • the width of the product is determined in accordance with the physique of the largest member of the family. When it is immersed in water, the distance from the shoulders to the sides must be at least 5 cm;
  • an oval bath is suitable for tall people. Products of non-standard sizes, angular models are used for medium-sized physique. The seated model is chosen if the room is small or for elderly, sick people;
  • a comfortable position for washing - reclining, when all parts of the body are immersed in water, legs are extended. The height of the bath should allow you to take this position, usually it is 50-60 cm;
  • for a standard room, an oval model is suitable. The size is selected based on the distance between opposite walls, minus a few centimeters for wall decoration;
  • for large areas in the apartment, the installation options are different: along the wall, in the center of the room on legs. There are no restrictions on the size or shape of the product.

A huge selection of models on the sanitary ware market allows you to choose the most suitable option for each consumer. Bathtubs made of different materials have their own characteristics, as well as different parameters.

Cast iron bathtubs

Cast iron products are distinguished by reliability, durability, strength. The water in them does not cool for a long time, although the inner surface does not heat up quickly. The price of high-quality cast-iron bathtubs is high, however, it is justified by a long service life.

The standard considerable weight of cast iron, from which bathtubs are made, requires special installation conditions. For installation, cast supports are prepared, which are fixed on the body. Cast iron is a metal that is difficult to process, therefore, products of traditional shapes are made from it: oval or elliptical. Models have different dimensions:

  • small bathtubs measuring 1.2x0.7 m, with a capacity of 140 liters are the most common. Models 1.3x0.7 m are made to order. Used when you need to save space;
  • medium-sized models are 1.4x0.7 m or 1.5x0.7 m. They are suitable for non-standard rooms. Average capacity - 170 liters;
  • the standard for large cast-iron bathtubs is 1.7x0.7 m or 1.85x0.85 m. Models are suitable for open-plan rooms. Capacity - up to 195 liters of water.

It is possible to manufacture cast-iron bathtubs of any size according to individual orders. To update the old plumbing products, an acrylic liner is used. For safe use, the models have special handles that serve as a support when diving or exiting. During installation, ensure that the bottom is located at a height of at least 14.5 cm from the floor level, necessary for the installation of a drain siphon.

Steel baths

Steel products are a budget option for plumbing. Baths have a weight of no more than 30 kg with a wall thickness of 0.3 cm. The inner steel surface is enameled, the quality of the model is not inferior to that of cast iron. The offered shapes are oval and elliptical.

Steel baths are produced in the same dimensions as cast iron products:

  • depth - 0.65 m;
  • length range 1.5-1.8 m;
  • width range 0.7-0.85 m.
Dimensions of standard steel tubs

When choosing, they are guided by the parameters of the room. Installation methods are different, light weight allows you to place products on legs or on a stand.

To minimize the significant drawback of steel baths - high noise level, special rubber gaskets are used or a layer of mounting foam is applied to the outer surface.

The high soundproofing properties of rubber and foam will ensure quieter operation of the bath. Also select special mixers. For people who are significantly overweight, it is better not to choose steel bathtubs. The lower area under high pressure may bend, the enamel coating will be damaged, and the service life will be reduced.

Acrylic bathtubs

There are models of acrylic of various parameters, however, standard products have a length of 1.2-1.9 m, a width of 0.7-1.7 m. and unusual: triangular, asymmetric, trapezoidal.

Achievements in the production of sanitary products - acrylic bathtubs have a lot of advantages:

  • the light weight of acrylic products will allow you to install them quickly and easily;
  • acrylic is a heat-resistant material with bactericidal properties;
  • the opportunity to purchase the product in the color that most harmoniously fits into the interior of a standard room.

Dimensions of acrylic bathtubs

To install the bath, prepare supports or place it on adjustable screw legs. For ease of use, the upper edge of the bath should be no higher than 50-60 cm from the floor. The disadvantages of products made of acrylic include the high fragility of the material, which imposes a limitation on the possibility of using products. Gentle care and cleaning is required, without the use of abrasive substances, sharp objects.

Application of acrylic liners

Acrylic liner is a bathtub insert that is made from an ABS+PMMA polymer material called sanitary acrylic. The liner is used in cases where it is necessary to update an outdated bath. As a result of the installation, a new acrylic bathtub on a cast iron frame is obtained. An acrylic liner is made from a 6 mm thick polymer sheet, there are products of various shapes.

The liner must have dimensions exactly corresponding to the dimensions of the cast-iron bath, a difference of 2 cm or more will lead to depressurization and cracking.

The acrylic liner is attached to the base with an adhesive. Installation takes 1-2 hours, and a day later you can use the bathroom. To install the insert, it is not necessary to dismantle communications or wall coverings. An acrylic liner has a price lower than a new acrylic bathtub, but it is as good as it looks and performs. The updated oval bath, subject to the rules of operation, will last up to 15 years.

Corner models

Corner bathtubs can have a different shape: triangular, asymmetric, trapezoidal, rounded. The variety of models allows you to choose the most functional option for any room.

The standard length of the corners of the product does not exceed 1.5 m, however, you can find both products with dimensions of 0.9x0.9 m and 2x2 m. The capacity of corner models does not exceed 400 liters. The most popular triangular models have dimensions of 1.2x1.2 m and 1.5x1.5 m, the depth varies from 0.45 m to 0.8 m. Products with a hydromassage function are usually large, for example, 1.8x1.8 m.

Many corner models have built-in shelves for storing bath accessories. When installing a standard corner model, a flat wall surface is of great importance for a snug fit. Installation is carried out on a special basis or the product is installed on legs or brackets.

Models from non-traditional materials

Recently, wooden bathtubs are gaining popularity. They are made from solid pieces of oak. Wooden products are made to order, based on personal preferences and room parameters. The traditional shape is oval, but it is possible to produce asymmetric, triangular models. Wooden products are installed on legs or stands. Such baths have unique properties - with prolonged use, their strength increases. The high price that wooden fonts have is justified by the considerable price of wood, the complexity of making a bath, and the healing effect on the human body.

Another option for exclusive bathtubs are made of natural or artificial stone: marble, granite, sandstone, onyx, travertine. Products have individual dimensions and heavy weight, each bathtub is unique. With proper operation, the service life is up to 50 years.

Plumbing products for taking water procedures while sitting

A sitz bath is often used when there are medical indications for taking water procedures in an upright position. It is made of acrylic, steel, cast iron. Products are produced in various shapes: rectangular, with rounded edges, triangular. The sitting model is suitable for small rooms and allows you to rationally use the free space.

This bath is made with different dimensions:

  • the smallest sitting bath is 1m long and 0.7m wide;
  • medium-sized models, whose length is 1.2 m, width 1.1 m, are the most popular;
  • a sitting bath with dimensions of 1.2x0.7 m or 1.5x0.7 m is close to the standard options. The considerable length of the model allows it to be used even by large people.

The small capacity of such products allows you to save water, as they are filled with water only to the level of the lower abdomen. Modern sitting plumbing is equipped with a door, like a car. It simplifies the process of adopting water procedures for the elderly or the disabled.
