We make partitions for the bathroom from drywall

The problem with small apartments is known to almost every second citizen in our country. Not surprisingly, it is often necessary to go to tricks to make modest housing more comfortable for living. For example, you often have to face the need to install partitions for a bathroom, turning it into a separate one. What can they be made from?

Advantages of drywall

Until recently, the word “wall” was associated with brick, but now this material has lost its appeal due to the incredible cost. And there is no need to talk about the convenience of erecting capital walls on the top floor.

Drywall bathroom partitions can be an excellent way out. It is lightweight, cheap and very easy to install. You only need to buy material, and spend a little on a steel frame.

How is the work carried out?

First you need to decide on the size of the opening, on the basis of which you can cut the required amount of profile. We note right away that only metal should be used, since the use of wood for bathrooms is categorically not recommended.

Yes, wood-frame bathroom partitions are cheaper, but wood is not very stable. It swells easily when exposed to moisture in the air. As a result, the tree increases in size, the wall "leads".

We think it’s not worth talking a lot about the fact that during work you need to constantly use the level and plumb line, otherwise unpleasant surprises may await you. The profile is attached to the walls. The structural details themselves are connected to each other with 25 mm self-tapping screws.

So, after installing the profile, you can start cutting drywall. It is attached to the frame using all the same screws. First you need to install it on one side, constantly monitoring the process with a level.

Note that the installation of the second side of the wall without filling the gap between the two sheets with a layer of thermal insulation is not very justified, since in this case the partitions for the bathroom turn into a kind of drum. Given that the room is very intimate, this effect must be avoided by all means.

Other options

It should not be assumed that piers can only be made of drywall, since plastic partitions for bathrooms will perform their functions just as well. It is better to make them on the same steel frame, screwing PVC panels onto them. The space between the two layers should also be filled with thermal insulation.

In addition, hot and cold water pipes are often passed between them, which would otherwise spoil the interior of the room. Note that they will have to be wrapped with a layer of thermal insulation, since otherwise a huge amount of condensate will form.

Where else might they be needed?

It should not be assumed that only in capital apartments partitions for bathrooms may be needed. Toilet cabins, which are installed in country houses, also require isolation from prying eyes. A simple drywall construction is ideal for such purposes.
